Brilliant Cut Grinder

SEARCH for the treasure...
Damn, i just ordered a medium and a large one. I have the feeling I’ll order an SS in the very near future…

Unless the steel version is able to give better final results, I’m just fine with the two aluminum sets I have. I’ll only be curious on how much $$$$$$ a STEEL version might be. If I were younger, and no grinder, I’d buy a steel one.

Bad Dog

Yeah I pissed on the rug...... so what
I'm a little more than 3 months into ownership of my BCG and the honeymoon continues! I'm still blown away by the consistency 😲😯😧😦😮 ............. the smoothness 😶 and the beauty😭!!!!!!! I didn't mess around and got all 3 plates, I love 2 the other is ok....... I took a risk with the colour of my fine plate and went with orange despite the reports of the colour was not as pictured on the website ?!? its grown on me  and is my most used plate, second is my course hematite which I also love! the Amethyst medium is actually my favourite colour with my emerald top and bottom but I almost never use it? sad but true, I find the grind to be the least consistent, it's a mix of fine and course sized pieces and not really a medium grind. at least that's been my experience with it, fine for smoking and also fine for vaping but I much prefer my other 2 plates, though I suppose I should experiment with grinding upside down a little and see what that is like? all in all I'm very pleased with my purchase the wait was totally worth it!

New here. I just emailed them and they said the stainless version they were hoping to get out by year-end. I'm doing ok with my POV 4 piece grinder but can't wait to get a Large BCG. The lead times on the non-anodized silver are very short which is what I want.

Do I wait for the stainless or dive in for an aluminum now. I don't think I'll be getting another grinder for a very long time after the purchase.

Life is short...don't wait...the aluminium used in the BCG is very hard compared to a lot of other grinders (7075 compared to 6061 that most other manufacturers use due to easier machining). So it will probably outlast you, the S/S version if not 316 would not be much better IMO...if it is 316 S/S it will outlast you and your children.

Old & In the Way
On its way to me is a large Sapphire/Gold/Sapphire, ordered Aug. 4.
Shout out to Kathleen, who was nice enough to send a picture from the finished batch, to help me feel good about my color selection.
I'm feeling great about it, and very excited!
My initial concept was Swedish colors.

They will show up the anodizing missing bits as they wear off more than other colours...I should have stuck to silver for the grinding plates :2c:
Thank you for ameliorating some of my cognitive dissonance surrounding my colour choice. That was one of my initial reasons to opt for hematite top and base as opposed to onyx (also because my old shitty grinder was black and had severe chipping/scratches inside and out and I needed a change of function AND appearance).

I still love my hematite top, base and medium plates cause of the way it seems to refract different portions of the light spectrum in response to different lighting environments (optical illusion changing colour).

Whereas, feel like onyx looks kinda like any old black grinder (which, don't get me wrong; has always been my go-to colour), but a little too plain for me; hence my purchase decision. (EDIT: too plain in comparison to the hematite).

I bought my grinder back in May and was 100% confident, but the onyx seems so purdy now for some reason. I may have a Large onyx medium in my future......

Yeah I think I'm going to get another small, regular size, with the course plate, sapphire with amethyst plate maybe?... I do like my large, but I think I do prefer the original still maybe since I already have a few in rotation, I mean I do like my large a lot too, I just don't need two larges not that I need three the regulars but you know lol what about steel though, hopefully we'll know soon enough?

I received my order yesterday (medium and large onyx) and I definitely prefer the smaller one. The large one has already a new home.

Totally with you. All my grinders are black (apart S&B and TB Grinder), but seeing the onyx in reality I should have picked a lighter color or even the silver one. Buyers remorse. The upcoming SS version might be really nice if it has the same silky finish like the current aluminum ones. The BCG feels nearly like polished wood if the cold of the metal wasn’t as obvious.

But after “milling” for some weeks, it feels kinda wrong, squeezing the bud for a first initial turn in a classic grinder with teeths…

So i just ordered a large, fully onyx BCG a week ago. Had no idea it might be the most prone to chipping. What is the strongest color ya think? Silver? Or does it just not show as much wear?

It is not really chipping, just slowly anodizing wear over time at certain points (center mostly underneath), if you are careful closing and opening it, shouldn't really be much of a problem, it takes a while for any wear to show if you are careful... The aluminum here is very high grade, it's not chipping! But yeah you might see it easier with the darker color, and you would hide it easiest with silver, but I don't think it's such a big deal. If you are concerned you could email them to try to switch your order!

I did send them a quick email asking if they recommend a color for best durability. Ill let ya know if they do.

You are totally correct. Just some standard 20/20 hindsight vision rubbing all the "what-ifs" in our faces.

I mean.... its not even worth pining over what couldve been. A more important question to ask is "what should my second BCG colours be?" :brow:

Edit: my fine plate is onyx and Ive been using it exclusively the past week, so I keep visualizing a full onyx grinder in my head and its nice af.
