just a low content post & mostly saying hi.

but also i am thrilled b/c i was able to find someone nice enough to go through the somewhat tedious process of figuring out how to send one of these from north america to germany - thanks again @youknowwhoyouare

i think it will embark on its journey soon enough & there is is some waiting & reading to do in this thread in the meantime.
i know batteries must have been discussed ad nauseam so i hardly dare ask. i have an older vct6 from the tm lying aorund (should work yes?), but will buy a fresh one to mark new beginnings, my local battery store carries sony vtc5a, lg hg2, & samsung 25r. the sony vtc5a is specifically named on the firewood website, so i guess this is the one i should go with (?).

Sony are great, VTC6 is what I use most with mine, but also LG HG2, VTC5A will be good too... Samsung wrapping could be a little thick, be careful inserting and removing the batteries at first, to protect the wrapping, press them against the spring to make it easier to remove and insert them.

i will also receive the wpa adapter. not really a water user (so far), but i would like to get a j-hook at some point i think. the o'connel inception looks really nice, but does anyone know of a good EU source for all things glass?

Yeah check out that thread, a lot of other options for European folks, you may want to get a customized version of the TM hooks from France actually, a nice male jointed L hook would be awesome with the WPA...

Glad you were able to find someone who can help hook you up with this little beast!

I have all the cells you listed and for your new Firewood7 I'd go with the LG HG2. Be careful not to damage the battery wrapper/sleeve when inserting or removing them. Push the negative side all the way in first.

---

In other news, did something break off my FW7? I could have sworn that negative battery contact had a cute little metal piece on it and not this fucked up looking spring and bare copper wire business. :hmm:

I don't recall mine ever having any kind of plate or anything else. I've had mine a little over a month, and it's a spring with the copper wiring.

The Sherlock from Herborizer works great and it's quite stable :

Glad you’re getting one! The other battery I’d recommend is the Molicel P26A, but when I first got my FW7 it was extremely tight with those batteries. If yours loosens up like mine has though, you might look into those next time you buy batteries. :)

Also, the O’Connell inception j-hooks do work well with the Firewood 7 (with a 14mm male to male adapter), but there are other good hooks out there too. I do think they’re a real step above the basic cheap ones though. :)

the unit coming to me is (lightly) used, so maybe the battery compartment has loosened up a bit. the molicel is not available at the store i usually like to shop, but i will keep those in mind. will be interesting to compare my older vct6 with a new battery in any case, i have zero sensitivity for battery differences (i just had the one for the tinymight), but those safety remarks re potential damage to the wrapping when inserting are much appreciated.

i have also had a look at those tm hooks in the linked thread, and they seem great (& too bad i never tried one with the tm). the idea would be to get a custom hook with a male 14mm end, yes? i'll look into that. would be nice to not need another adapter. wow. i am really in a spending mood now.

Haha yeah if you get it with a 14 mm male connection then it can connect right into the FW7 WPA and you don't need a separate male to male adapter, useful if you are not getting a hook to use with anything else (although yeah they are great with the TM obviously too!) My VTC6 is also old now, came with my TM, but still works well, as well as the HG2 if not better! Have fun

I recently got a pair of cheap Chinese j-hooks from dhgate, recommended upthread by @Shit Snacks, for less than $20 (must buy two) and maybe three weeks of waiting. Fit well, work great and gives one a spare, although the glass is surprisingly robust. I was happy with the built-in dimpled glass stem, but this is a definite step up for next to no investment. Highly recommended!

Nice! Did you get the ones with the male fitting? Would love to see how they look with the FW7 (can use imgur or imgbb .com btw)

@Shit Snacks - I did get the ones with the 14 mm male fitting, but I'm actually out of town for a couple days sans my Firewood. Will attempt to photograph (the easy part!) and post early next week. They fit into the WPA attachment and ones hand quite comfortably, and more importantly they deliver voluminous hits with very little effort!

Well my fw7 arrived today 2 days early! And even though I didn't specify when ordering, I emailed Marc asking if he could swap out the stem for an amber one. And low and behold it has an amber stem. Now comes the hard part waiting to get home to try it out.
Enjoy. You are in for a treat. Just remember not to pack above the ring of airflow holes in the bowl.

The device is excellent! The flavor is honestly some of the best of all the vapes I own. It even beats out my bowle and tinymight for flavor. The only thing I dont like about the device is the fact that it is super hot after use and damn near impossible to place back in your pocket afterwards. If I were to change anything on this device it would be to add wood mass so to keep the heat away from leg after use.

Do you do cool down hits to clear the chamber after every hit? I find that helps in mitigating temperature. I’ve never found mine too hot to stick in my pocket, but then again I don’t think I ever store mine in my pocket 🤷🏼‍♂️

Normal use for me is at least 3 bowls then back in my pocket. I use this vape at work so not many other places to put it other than my pocket. As far as cool down hits go yes I use them which is how I end up able to put it in my pocket but it still take a few mins to cool off enough.
