"Hmm, there seems to be a titanium-heater in the herborizer?
Over 610°C titan frees up titandioxide, and this stuff is bad for your health (risk of lung-cancer when inhaling).
And the herborizer reaches that temps easily? They tell you to use over 600°C for "free-burning", this is not the temp of the air, but of the heater."

To clarify again, titanium dioxyde is what give titanium low oxydation after geting covered by.
Titanium dioxyde is used as food colorant E117 (like in M&Ms etc...)
Just to mention:
Mars did invest over 1 Million Euros to develop a new coating-procedure to get away from Titandioxide as colorant for their M&Ms in 2019.
In France it is forbidden to use it at all, in Germany and in the whole EU soon, too.
This is how "secure" it is.

And there are older studies that show particles of the heating-wire in the hot air of heat-guns. The outer microscopic coats of the wire fall off because of the thermal expansion of the material. They are not made from titan, this is just to clarify that simple thermal expansion in usage can make tiny parts fall off. This is why they wear out and need to be replaced from time to time.

I don't say, THERE IS TiO² in the air of the Herborizer, don't get that wrong.
No one can tell unless being tested in a laboratory.
And to be honest, i don't think there would be found noteworthy ammounts.
But i am not 100% sure, and this scares me (personally) enough to not risk using a Ti-Heater myself.

That doesn't mean, anyone else shouldn't, too! But i wanted to get clear what i meant and why i wrote that.

No offense, just to clarify, english is not my native language (not even near that^^)

Yes, here they tend to prohibate as soon as there is an unknown.
But food powdery is different from the anodize coating.
And for now, no carcinogenic relation have been proven with the powdery form...

And there are older studies that show particles of the heating-wire in the hot air of heat-guns. The outer microscopic coats of the wire fall off because of the thermal expansion of the material.

Only desolidarisation of solid structure could happen, at nanoscopic lvl,

As i said, Ti02 could have nanoparticles break over time if low maintenance (humidity, low anodizing..)
But "a" nano particle will have to pass through the herb (which work as a filter) then the bubbler water.
As herborizer may use good quality titanium, it must have really low ti02 desolidarisation over time.
From low grade titanium it would be different.

Desolidarisation may be happening with most of the vaporizing coumpound used.
Low cost rubies/boro beads, or any metal used, or wood (sticky brick issues)...

For now, quite none vaporizer can be certified "medical grade"

U're Still in honeymoon, i will not say to use lub  .
But it will stop to overstick after only few months, i used to put the finger on the bowl to clean the hit with heater lift. But now i could do it without hold the bowl.
But i've bought 2x14 and 2×18, i take no risk .. with glass
Why do you think your device stopped sticking with use? I find mine is worse if I let it the heater sit to long and the glass expands more. Not that it gets that bad with glass in glass. The Shovelhead in the Sphere is another story, I can't remove it once it heats up enough until it cools down.
It allows me to put a silk SS mesh over it. Which is needed for my full of kief sativa.
SS mesh over top of the screen or do you mean you use a totally different screen (higher micron)? I didn't think any screen could handle kief so that's interesting to know.

It's because of the 18mm of your big sphere.
14mm forms a basket with the screen. Which can hotspot if u pack too much and draw too fast.
but for 0.1g and less it's the fastest extraction, without even stiring.

And that's how to avoid pop-corn taste ;)
Most people surestimate the efficiency of their device (or how they drive it), and overload by simplicity...:myday:

That's good to hear on the 14mm bowl, I'll have to get one at some point. It's always nice to have a smaller bowl option otherwise my tolerance can drift.

I load large for maximum effect in as short of time as possible. Smaller bowls are definitely more efficient and taste better at the end but I love the way the Herborizer can smack me upside the head with a big pack. Those first 2 hits are so overloaded with flavour they almost make up for the eventual worse tasting later hits.

I never let it sits on glass female (ceramic stand).
But even with no bowl expansion, it was sticky at first, and now it's good.

Kief size down to 50 micron, so i use #325 but #400 are good too, #500 must restrict too much the airflow.
Be sure it is grade 316 though (food/medical grad), not the 304.

With iso cleaning weekly it never clog.
and the regular screen, i use below because #325 is silk, build up more reclaim

With the potency of strain those days, no need of huge bowl.
I'm already mouthfull with lower than 0.1g, playing with her without fast exhale, (some people mention the "secret breath", which seems a bit too forced, but i was doing without their mechanical rythmic )
i just play with her, we share a too short time..

While I understand your concerns, if I remember correctly, TiO² forms at higher temperature than necessary for vaping. If you keep it below 500 or even 600 Celsius it should not form at all, does anyone here have the background to comment on this? The DigiTi as the analogue Ti should heat up slowly to the desired setting and sits there as I think it works. Seems ok to me, no expert though

Already said many times...
I repaeat myself with "other" words..

""
after heating in air for half an hour, the surface of titanium heated at 200 ° C is silver white, 300 ° C is light yellow, 400 ° C is golden yellow, 500 ° C is blue, 600 ° C is purple, 700 °C (to) – 800 ° C for gray red, 900 ° C for gray, the entire color change can be described as colorful. The ignition temperature of natural gas is 270-540 °C, the ignition temperature of liquefied petroleum gas is 365-460 °C, and the ignition temperature of city gas is 270-605 °C, which can reach the temperature of oxidative discoloration of titanium. If your titanium pot can change color, it means that you have bought a pure titanium pot.

The oxide film of titanium not only changes the color of titanium, but also greatly improves the corrosion resistance of titanium. However, the thicker the oxide film of titanium, the better the corrosion resistance. When the heating temperature is below 500 °C, oxygen and titanium will form a dense oxide film of TiO2, which has a certain protective effect on the surface of titanium; When the heating temperature reaches 600 °C-700 °C, the oxide film on the surface of titanium will become thicker; After the temperature exceeds 700 ° C, although the thickness of the oxide film increases, it becomes loose, easily broken, and loses its protective effect. Therefore, titanium generally has good corrosion resistance at normal temperature.

""

The issue with too high temp +600C is the gas and coating desolidarisation, period.

Thanks @Shadooz for rolling the stone up the hill again :) There should be a basic FQA for any vape thread.
I have another question like that, a quick search didn't help: What is the the whip size Herborizer uses (diameter/strength) I'm looking for alternative tubing in europe. Any recommendations on that?

whip size Herborizer
Whip size ?

The last time i used whip was with my mflb, they are just shit to clean...
after many years of cleaning vap, i can't be bothered by whip again... reason i choose the herborizer, all glass.

And the bowl have the regular size, 14mm or 18mm...

So I Don't understand your question..

But I do from time to time. I am looking for a high quality temperature resistent silicone tubing and I want to replace it sometimes. I did not like the whip from Herborizer, as it hat a strong smell. So the question is still out there. I would like to avoid trial and error and would like to know which diameter/strength (wall thickness) the tubing should have - I am a total Noob with whips.

As sneaky pete do the same "sphere" kind, their silicon tube may be good. avoid china, or even amazon.

But to me, i would avoid any silicon in the pathway..

Same material?, Glass is made of silica? silicon hose made of silica?
Because they use silica dioxyde doesn't give them the same proprieties...

Silicone have oil absorption propriety which is a cons here.
Iso is gentle on it, but make it swell, mechanical reaction.
but with time, oil/reclaim will seeps more and more. Taste deterioration before being harmfull.
It can't seeps in glass.

And be carefull, only medical grade silicone can handle 200C...
Never put it straight to a bowl, or the chamber for any vape.
Only for the mouthpiece, after water.

"
At around 200 °C in oxygen-containing atmosphere, PDMS releases traces of formaldehyde (but less than other common materials such as polyethylene [28][29]). At 200 °C, silicones were found to have lower formaldehyde generation than mineral oil and plastics (less than 3 to 48 µg CH2O/(g·hr) for a high consistency silicone rubber, versus around 400 µg CH2O/(g·hr) for plastics and mineral oil). By 250 °C, copious amounts of formaldehyde have been found to be produced for all silicones (1,200 to 4,600 µg CH2O/(g·hr)).[29]
"

The reason i choose herborizer and glass. i don't want to change it every couple of months...
like i did with my craftys...
But if you can afford change it every months, why not..

Volute of Vapor
Hi, I bought a 2nd hand Herborizer XL system which came with a Sherlock by Herborizer, by the past I owned a Ti system but didn't kept it for long, i think the XL will be a keeper! Taste is awesome, really, incredible and you can get pretty large clouds after some understanding how it work, I noticed the need to "prime" by a first hit with fast inhale and low vapor production, right after you can take a classic convection hit (long&slow) and clouds will come!

I'm very late to the party but I'm very glad I took the plunge on this old device!

Hello - I've tried to search this thread, but can't find an answer to my questions. I'm about to pull the trigger on an Herborizer Ti Sphere setup straight from France.

1. What accessories should I get?
2. Enail or not enail? Is there a disadvantage to vaporizer/enail combo besides extra cost? I press my own rosin and have a couple of basic dab rigs and Shenzen Crossing Core for dabbing them, but more ways to dab are always fun.

Thanks!

I would get a stand OR better yet (imo) buy a Sherlock which isn't much more (€25~) and use that as a stand. I picked up an extra heater cover just in case. You may want to do the same for the bowl piece.

I shipped the enail option because I didn't hear great things about it when compared to dedicated dab rigs (and the VROD iirc). I already have dual functionality on my VROD anyways otherwise I may have tried it.

Are you looking at La Centrale Vapeur? There are some coupon codes floating around, I posted one (or 2) recently.

Thanks! I was looking at buying directly from Herborizer. I'm in the US. It seemed to be the cheapest option, but will I have to pay customs or something?

That'll be hit or miss afaik. I'm in Canada and purchased from La Centrale Vapeur (which was a little cheaper with a coupon code than directly from Herborizer) and I managed to avoid any extra charges.

Is this a...what day is this?
I'd definitely recommend grabbing extras of the glass bits like a heater cover, bowls, screens. I have the enail cover, and I've honestly never used it and don't plan to.

A stand is definitely a must have for the Herborizer, as is the silicone sleeve for the injector handle.

I know that Scott over at Vgoodiez got in a few Herborizer kits a few weeks back, he might still have some? If you're looking for a US based purchasing option.

As for customs when purchasing overseas, in my experience it's been a crap shoot. Sometimes your item will breeze right through with no customs charges, other times you'll get an email requiring you to log on & pay the customs fee before your item is released to the local carrier.

Thanks. I don't see much mention of this in this thread, but a 2017 post way back at the beginning said that Sebastien said that to the US, anything under $800 doesn't pay import taxes, so I should be good.

Thanks, this is very helpful! I added most of that but not the silicone sleeve or heater cover.

I tried Scott first. I'm on his list, but he doesn't know when he's getting more and I'm impatient. :)

Okay the really big question: I moved to dabs and joints because my throat can't take vaping anymore, or bong hits.

Will this irritate my throat? My Mighty and POTV One are useless to me--it's too hot, too irritating. I cough tons.

If you run the Herborizer through water, I think it's quite smooth. You can also run it at lower temps which will make it more comfortable.

I'm surprised you moved to joints, they're so much harsher to me. I agree with @3migo that through water it's pretty smooth. Have you tried water with your other vapes? Ice water or hot water are both worth trying. I like the cooling properties of cold water but hot water takes away the dryness which I prefer. I don't have issues with any vapor really but the Herborizer is one of the smoothest vapes which is surprising when it can hit so hard.

Thanks for your feedback. I should have said, not a plain joint--I'm packing King Palms, so they have a filter. I have tried water w/the vapes occasionally and it does seem to help.

It is true you lucky bastards lol! ;) $799?99 and it's zero added VATvor Import Tax (not the same), while us Brits have forever been slapped with 20% (maybe 17.5 in past(?) VAT PLUS a cheeky £8 postal handling charge on top- to pay the bill FOR us and kindly charge us for the service.

Royal Mail that is. Others charge up to £15 handling fee.

So a £15 overseas item with say, £6 shipping, if they are "generous" enough to exclude the postage from VAT... costs £32 minimum!

I mean, that really is just an all out piss take right??

That's just an example but those are the plain facts of the matter.

£577.46....would be swell!

It's ordered! Buuuuttttt....ack. I missed ordering the extra "heater cover." Is this what is called "Injector Ti" on the site? Sigh. Oh well. Already emailed Seb a bunch because *three* of my credit cards were rejected by the payment processor. Finally got an order through, and now am kicking myself for not reading more carefully. I got an extra 18mm bowl and screens but had I thought it through a little more I would have also gotten a set of the 14mm accessories. Oh well.

What I got: Vaporizer Sphere Ti (no enail), Sherlock body for stand, extras: 18mm bowl, 4 injector O rings, silicone injector sleeve, locking clip (?) and cleaning flask. Cost w/shipping was 490 Euros.

Should have added (?): extra heater cover or 2, 14mm bowls, plug for cleaning? I'll just be super careful with my heater cover.

Does Scott at Vgoodiez usually sell things like the heater covers and bowls as accessories or will I always have to order from overseas? I did not think about how a 10 Euro accessory is going to cost 40 to ship.

I would email Seb to cancel and try to order yet again but I feel silly since I had literally five chances to edit the order. :bang: Stoner life! Thought I had it all dialed in last night when I filled the cart.

Thank you to all on this thread for the vast amount of info and feedback. Can't wait to try it out!

You likely won't need a new heater cover for a long time, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I suggested grabbing a spare since it is a breakable part and you might need a replacement in the future. Ultimately, it shouldn't be something you need to replace often or ever as long as you're careful with the glass.
