@Abysmal Vapor do you get more even AVB with the female jointed version?
Depends on how you pack. Abv is pretty even with both :). The bowl structure is essential. I move away from the aquarium bowls to a more narrow one that is the same od is the male opening.
The female 19/26 is insane ,especially the 150mm ones that i made recently , it can cash 0.25 in one hit and it is golden brown.
The 14/23 male can be used with a smaller torch and is my favorite these days.
There is a technique you hold it with the male joint upwards while heating and you are left with a cool end, and you can remove the heater at any time :)).. which is not possible with elevator. I always remove heaters before i finish my draw,i can smell combusted condensation otherwise, my nose is very sharp, but i must say 99% of the people dont care for it
The one with the clear joint was my favorite but they were 120mm so i moved to 150mm lightly grounded, cause they are more easily available. IT is a pleasure to watch things melt inside.
@Bananiq was also a fan of the big one ,but now he is sold on the efficient one. :)) @Dutch-Mic If you want i can hook you with a heater for your vapocane set ,you will retire the stock heater, vapor withing 30 secs :) and you can remove it between hits.

@invertedisdead Annealing is very precise process ,if is not done right, breakage is very likely .You will be surprised how durable the properly annealed simax can be .
I can make a quartz Gn0me but the simax/lenz quartz joint alone costs as 12 boro glass joints... ,i have mastered the technique and dont experience breackages, focusing the torch at one spot can do that. I would most likely break a heater by dropping it ,than break 10 in operation.

The G0blin/Gn0ck-off from Green Dream vaporizer: https://greendream.shop/Goblin-Convection-Vaporizer-GreenPower/en.

I never used the Gn0me, but I own a Vapocane. I prefer the G0blin for the following reasons:

- Shorter heating time (60 -70 seconds with a kitchen torch. The Vapocane needs at least 90 -110 seconds).
- Better heat retention (more hits in one heating cycle).
- I can grab the bottom of the heater/glass when it's HOT. Very convenient for a quick stir.
- The Dreamwood Glow can be used to finish the bowl.

I would love to try the Elev8r, but so far the Goblin serves me well!

Oh cool, I have a gn0ckoff gotten from a member here that I never really used, but started using the 18 mm female bowl with my new G43, which reminded me I should probably try gn0ming again now that I have a proper torch for dabbing... Still just feel weird about this type of heating though, like why I got vapman with a station lol

Honestly for torching this is probably better than its competitor as this has quite a bit more heated surface area from the proper Vigereux spikes, and the heater sits outside the bowl instead of inside, which generally heats the bowl more evenly. I wouldn't expect the basket screen to even need stirring?

I much prefer fused Quartz over borosilicate for torching though.

Yeah I do really like this way better, having the heater be female and the bowl be male, so you can use basket screens for one hitter rips and just better efficiency in general without stirring too... Was thinking about maybe trying my Phineas Vigreux tube as a female heater too (although it's vigreux spike pattern may be pointing the wrong way for heating the air? They are pointed down for cooling the vapor) but yeah I was having some concerns about them all being glass instead of quartz?? Really I was thinking, it would be so cool to put an enail around the Phineas tube, again because I don't like the idea of the torching (not that I have a controller box or plan to get one now though lol) but figured for that especially it should be quartz?? No clue really lol

A little off topic, but speaking of G43, @inverted I am going to swap the boro beads with rubies, should mean better performance and heat retention? Especially since I am using the bowl further away, "injector style"...?

And nice work @Abysmal Vapor !

I think for electrifying a heavily dimpled heater you're better off wrapping in a more flexible resistive wire type coil rather than a stiff enail coil, as the dimples throw off the concentricity, which affects the contact area of your enail coil; in other words the dimpled areas won't make contact with the coil.

I would think it would help a lot in the G43 since it's being heated just by the small wire coil wrapped around the glass rod ; essentially a wax pen coil. Ruby/sapphire conducts heat better than stainless steel and titanium so I think it would definitely help in the G compared to glass balls.

Thanks my dude!!

Yeah that makes sense with the heating element around the glass, I remember RBT rigged something up with one of his male cooling tubes and his steel mesh heating element wrapped around it... Not something I feel comfortable trying to do myself, but it would be awesome if someone makes a vape like that someday! It would be like a mini cloud evo you could drop on top of rigs with an adapter

I have tried it, i prefer the ball heaters :). Invertedisdead is right ,Putting a nail coil will be a challenge due to the unevenness of the structure.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread @Dutch-Mic , I've often wondered what the gn0mes looked like and how they worked but never researched it. Now it looks like I need one of these style heaters!

Also thanks so much for your pictures @Abysmal Vapor I finally understand 👍

Edited to add I've got a vapocane but never really achieved a good hit from it. Maybe I'm not heating for long enough *shrug*

@Cheebsy Glad you like them, it took a lot of trial and error and it wasnt until a basic glass blowers class, until i come with the right architecture( i call it spinal structure) , which is kind of my own finishing touch/signature to this great concept :). I have a couple of fans, but other than that ,this concept has been massively obscured and under appreciated, especially here in the EU . Wish the OG maker was still around , his work was next level.

I made these a year ago for similar reason! Wanted to get to the bowl easier, also I have long hair so I really like that the heater is “recessed” when in use so you can’t really burn yourself on the glass.

It’s just a quart joint filled with pearls. When the Terp Torch came out I was like WTF, it’s just like the torch vape I’ve been working on....! These have been in various videos in my thread!

Sorry for the condensate marks, not everyone I’ve shown it to manages to “pull out” in time 😂😂

Hahah! Thank you @Abysmal Vapor !
I totally agree, firstly I was obsessed with 19-female heaters due to "better airflow" but they are just big gas spenders. After some time I started to love 14-male as you love due to better focused (still evenly spread) and quicker heating...
hahah that 19f pic back then ! I would prepare better photo if I knew I will find my cats here after several years lol 🤣
