The Nomad From Morwood

Dead sexy. I'm thinking I should have stayed on the wait list for the Nomad 2. I bailed over eighteen months ago. Is this the first batch of Nomad 2s in the wild or were there some earlier ones delivered?
This is the first batch but Dan did get his feet wet and finished a couple from batch 1 early. I admit it, I was a lucky one who got a Nomad 2 early. I’ll try to edit this post with a link to my picture.

Edit: let’s see if this works... https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-nomad-from-morwood.21143/page-172#post-1523170

Looks for @Dan Morrison post with pictures. I’m proud to say the amboyna burl is mine. It’s the first pictured vape in his post.

Mine is third from the bottom, Curly Koa, African Blackwood and a Blue Labradorite button . The button doesn't look very vibrant in the pic but it all depends on how the light hits it and changes the chatoyancy (looks different in other pics Dan has sent). The wood will also change a lot, as will it in the other gorgeous Nomad's that have been posted. I couldn't even tell you what I'd pick for another design as there are just so many that I love! I'll have to take a video when mine arrives to show off the chatoyancy in the wood and button as it's hard to capture in a photo even once the devices are fully finished.
I was wondering who scored that one! I think that's my favorite in this batch. Beautiful...

I see mine.

Inspiration for this came from my favorite ukulele. I wanted Koa for the body, Rosewood for the collar and bottom, and mother of pearl like a fret marker for the button.
Dan is the freaking man. These are all amazing looking pieces.
I would also like to thank @SquirrelMaster for adding to my vocabulary. Koa Nomad bros.

As someone who is on the waitlist for Batch 3 but still a little undecided on choices, I'm hoping to get more of those last pictures dropped identified. Especially...

What are the wood/button choices on the 2nd pic?
What are the bottom/collar woods for the 3rd pic in Part 4 (#33)?
How many of those dark bodies in this drop are African Blackwood (I'm trying to get a feel for the variation on Blackwood)... Are #4, 9, 28, 32, 33 all Blackwood bodies?
Where did the fossilized dinosaur bone make its debut?

Sorry to be the pain...Could we just identify all of them?

Damn, Dans button tech has definitely evolved for this batch. So many of those are incredible looking. Also lots of fantastic woods, going to be an awesome batch.

I love the Nomad 1 and the Nomad 2.

I think my lichen has paint of some sort and it turned out perfect, you can't tell any unnaturalness looking at it, just makes the colors enhanced back to how it probably looked on the tree, and the little bit of color really helps tie the whole nomad together.

Still love my Nomad, don't forget they vape as good as they look.

Oh man... That's very clean. I have a beautiful Koa Kanile that reminds me of this piece, I may be using you for some inspiration. Though I just got on the list, so it'll be a good while :(

I'll be excited to see your finished product!

That's mine, with the spalted tamarind body, blackwood accents & lichen button. 🥰❤️
(I think it has a twin in the group!)

They're ALL gorgeous. Can't wait to see them develop their curves!

(click thumbnail to enlarge. That spalting is so pretty! I expect it's gonna patina nicely)

I'm a looong way out from getting one of these but I'm still waiting eagerly for this thread to update... I feel like a kid who can't sleep because he's going to Disneyland tomorrow.

Or... I guess because his friend is going to Disneyland tomorrow but sending pics.

@Mr. Me2 lol!

Cases! These turned out super cool. I am making the wooden buttons to match whatever accent/body wood that's used on the Nomads inside.

I'm really diggin' the naturally dyed cotton, it adds a subtle variation that you just don't get any other way. Makes these look very organic.

Dan just sent out an e-mail update about batch II. Thinking I may switch to the new high heater based on his description of it (originally went with low). Also want one of those soft cases!
You may want to think about getting both heaters. I have the low, which I really like, but have a high on its way to me. Call me fickle...
