Tetra P80

I find i like basket too. Joint seems a little too far from heater, although I add a screen to bring distance closer. Still not as ideal or even roasted as basket on a WPA.

I might be the odd one cos I cruise at 445F. Takes me 4-5 bong hits max with zero stirring to get that dark brown fully spent look on avb. The avb is comparable to my enail desktops. To me, that says a lot.

Don't really like waiting for the warm-ups for temp stepping. Prefer cruise for hands free operation with a rig 99% of the time.

The capsule stem is not very good quality. Already flaking at edges after only a few uses. I'd recommend getting stems from Alan of HI and iHeat. Cheaper, thicker and more durable than the Lamart one. My iHeat stem works with my P80 but the inner diameter won't fit the capsule. I prefer it without anyways.

Yeah I love joint packing my TP80 and running it in session mode at about 190°C/374°F with a preheat (3 clicks) before I begin. I fill it and then cap the load with a basket screen making sure to stir every hit or two as I gradually temp step up.

If I use it in on demand I'll load the basket directly and I start with a little lower temperature.

This is a pretty versatile vape with a real artisan feel to it with industry leading performance. Congrats to all the new arrivals!

is this thing on?
Microdosing is a charm with basket, preheating then straight to 220C Cruise. Three puffs and done, coffee brown.

I think that's how I will use it to get the job done fast. One time I took accidently a hit while it was preheating and I had a surprisingly huge cloud. No combustion. One Hit and coffee brown. That makes me guess there are faster ways than mine, what is your fastest vaping routine with the Tetra?

Received my green bendy stems and J-Hook ! Will be able to try my P80 tonight, hurrah !!

The J-Hook will wait a few days more for my adapter to arrive.

Edit :

Tried with the bendy stem and a basket (these seem to be around 0.1g).

Think this little cute greenie and myself will match.

Vapour is tasteful, with no metal taste or other, just pure weed taste. On-demand mode, began at 200°C, then raised to 220°C. Found that beginning to heat something like 5sec before gives better results. Then raised temp to 240°C, launched the warm-up mode, took a puff during warmup and another after as I was in cruise mode (didn't understand how...). AVB was even dark brown. The vapour is a bit cooler than with the TM, but it's the stem which is far greater (at least at home) because it never gets hot, only gently warm.

Only 1st try, so take it with a pinch of salt, but I felt the hit was less immediate than with the TM which strikes pretty quickly. But it isn't less efficient, writing these lines proves to be more difficult than anticipated... :spliff:

Same question as on the TM thread : do you prefer coarse or fine grinded weed in your P80 ? I'm looking for a new grinder.

I would have given you the same answer over there, but figured I'd hit them both with one answer......

That all depends on how and how much I'm loading in both units. The more I'm loading, the coarser I prefer the grind, the less, the finer. That's the general rule.

Both vapes have plenty of power and are very versatile......how are you using them is the first question!

@MonkeyTime : well, I'm using P80 with basket load, and my TM bowl is set around the same amount, so around 0,1g.

What do you prefer with fine grind ?

Actually, I bought a new grinder because my small Alchimia freebie was... too small. I've chosen a Thorinder, but it grinds coarse. Read everywhere vapes prefer fine grind, so was planning to buy another model. Not so sure now...

Guess if I buy another one, it makes more different weeds grinded to choose from

With smaller loads like that, I tend to be looking for flavor so I'll use a fine grind, light tamp and keep the temps lower.

If I'm trying to blow thru it quickly, a course grind keeps the stirring away!

Thanks. Will see if I pull the trigger. The Thorinder is a good grinder, but the big lightning shape of the holes makes me think it'll be difficult to have something fine.

But back to P80 ! Finally, the double 18mm male adapter I've ordered is not in stock, but the store sent me a 14/18mm male male with an additional 14 female/18 male adapter.

Long story short : I've tried the P80 with my new mini J-Hook. And I absolutely loved it. If the bendy stem didn't get hot, I'd say the J-Hook didn't get warm. Or just a bit. And the vapour is even cooler. Almost combusted my bowl (some black AVB), and was warned only by taste. I mean, no coughing, no hot sensation on the tongue, nothing but a bit of burnt taste. Have to thanks @Shit Snacks for its insistence about J-Hooks, it's a great addition to the P80. My bendy stems may gather some dust...

Can't wait to receive the proper adapter to try it with the Tinymight too !

With basket loading I actually prefer a bit finer of a grind in my Tetra, not too fine, but a consistent medium fine perhaps? If I am joint loading I would do more coarse, but I have done coarse basket loading without any issue honestly!

Read everywhere vapes prefer fine grind,

This really depends on the vape, I think it is common to find that everywhere because conduction vapes especially prefer fine grind, but a lot of pure convection does better with more coarse grind, however that is not a universal truth!

so was planning to buy another model. Not so sure now...

Haha yes this is how I justify buying more and more grinders, although now it is just going to be more and more brilliant cut grinders (already have three of those lol)

With smaller loads like that, I tend to be looking for flavor so I'll use a fine grind, light tamp and keep the temps lower.

This is interesting, because many prefer coarse grind for more flavor, fine grind faster extraction, just goes to show how much it really depends on the individual and so many variables... However I never ever stir with my tetra, again I am pretty much always basket loading, if I joint load I might take the stem out and blow through to shake things up, but yeah I don't find stirring necessary with basket loading regardless of course or fine grind... However the extraction will be more even, the more evenly consistent the grind is, regardless of fine or coarse in my experience.

Thanks. Will see if I pull the trigger. The Thorinder is a good grinder, but the big lightning shape of the holes makes me think it'll be difficult to have something fine.

You can grind anything fine, by grinding upside down, I find that useful to do to get more consistency, regardless of the grind. Some grinders do better with this than others (ie BCG is amazing because it does not really need to be cleaned, never jams or locks up)

Why am I suddenly feeling stupid ?

@Touf2n1 : like this pattern. Enjoy now !

A pic of mine with its bendy stem, and FC's main page in the background . Might take one with the J-Hook too. Only criticism I could make so far is it literally eats batteries. Make three session max with my Molicels, sometimes a bit less. So either it draws a lot more than my TM, or it's more conservative when it comes to warn about low battery.

I'm a bit drunk (woooooooo, knock off drinks) so may be missing something, when you all are saying basket pack, you mean putting in a rimmed basket and packing that, yeah? Rather than putting in a non rimmed screen then packing it, then adding the basket screen?

Edit: nvm, went back and reread the posts and you do mean what I thought you meant. Basket packing is how I like to use most of my vapes. I like the material being closer to the heater.

Looking so good dude, and I'm not even the biggest fan of green!

Yeah three bowls is not unreasonable here, there is a very high power drain with the 70 watts, make sure you have eco set to 1 btw if you are using cruise, so that the power adjusts when you are not inhaling from it... You should be able to get your usage to four bowls average with improved technique perhaps, I'd say three to five bowls with the Mollicell is a fair estimate, and with my usage as well it tends to be closer to three since I am not focused on the battery efficiency at home... If you really want to, you could try limiting the wattage to be 50 instead of 70, could see better battery life, though I'm not sure how that will affect performance... I have never tried this with mine, though others have.

I don't think i mentioned it here but i listened to @west-elec and got myself some hammer pipes, to use dry. Results are incredible. I get almost Sticky Brick type hits from them. Vapor so cool it's rather ridiculous lol. Don't get dirty easy at all.

Something like this. Hope you guys like it as much as I do.

Damn it I have so many jayhooks, but now I want one of these too lol

Haha yeah, that is how I use all my glass stem based pure convection vapes, most efficient especially for milking the low temps I like!

it's santos rosewood
(much more beautiful than in the photos of Lamart! and surely more beautiful than in my photos! difficult to pay homage to him)

@purepotstill
I like this one too 😁
yours is not bad either 😂
and yeah I agree, he's an ogre !! he eats batteries ... 2-3 bowls per battery ... but hey, I just did 2 sessions in bad conditions !!

@funkyjunky
thanks! thanks a lot!
I like the wood, its color, the touch, I like the design, I like the flavors ... the rest, I'll learn!
I am really not disappointed !! great job !!!
(news from me soon for accessories ... i don't really know how but i already cracked my tank very slightly ... but i really like this mouthpiece !!)
in short, well done and thank you!

@Shit Snacks
Will you stop promoting Lamart's mini j-hooks please, they are out of stock !!! 😉😁

It's not really a problem, have enough batteries home. Will try this economy mode though, especially as I think I prefer the cruise mode on my P80 (unlike the TM which I use on demand).

Well, male ones are out of stock, but he still has female ones :D. Just a male to male adapter to add, and you have this :

is this thing on?
I need a different WPA with a 14mm connection. I would prefer a carbhole too. The 14/18mm combo doesn't work well with my favorite bubbler. Are there other options for WPAs? 3rd Party would be cool but also like the baskets...

are you still using it while in warmup? i'm a little nervous to do so. but i hear it's how to get the juiciest pulls or maybe finish the basket in one shot.

does anyone here consistently use it while in warmup? is it recommended?

Have to say I didn't use warm up again. With no warm up in cruise mode and stepping the temp, I can take 3 to 4 draws. I'd rip my bowl taking one draw during warm up. Might have one other after, but I guess no more.

No need for a third party WPA, pretty much any 18 mm male to male will fit the TP80 and basket screens, although glass can vary so you may want to get a few different ones from different places? Ebay is the easiest and cheapest for these

I never use warm up, I only use cruise, and I just wait a little bit before hitting it the first time... Also depends on the temp settings, so if I cruise at 445F you can get one hitter bowls (I wouldn't load the basket full though) pretty quick!

just another set of subjective data points, but after logging 64 cycles across 4 batteries (molicel P26As/sony VCT5As) in the last couple of months since i got the tp80, i've been averaging around 4 basket packs running at w2c at 220c/430f, session done in <2 min. admittedly i often go back-to-back and load another while it's already warmed up though, so that's probably increasing my battery efficiency. that and a lot of the time i use the unit quite discretely and where time is of the essence - so i'm not exactly having drawn out, relaxed sessions. i haven't really used mods before and have only had the tp80 for a few months, but i don't notice a difference in performance or number bowls/cycle between the two battery types. of course that's only specific to my usage.

nice, thanks! i think i'll try just cruising for bit at higher temps.
