I should have also picked up the Sai banger attachment for $6 when POTV was selling off all that stuff. I'm glad POTV is still running, but a lot has been sold off, and with PIU and others completely down it is a very uneasy feeling. It's a shame that even with the trend of cannabis being more mainstream and a democratic government in place that our community is still running scared.

Yeah I saw that, they had the steepest sales I saw, PIU was also though, I almost got that piece until I realized it was only for the regular bottom flow Sai!

Having access to good concentrates is a blessing. I have vaped very little flower lately, in fact I will probably use my rosin press to squish what flower I have sitting around, but with fine badders and live resin available I haven't had the want or need to bother pressing anything. However, with availabilty and politics constantly changing I am glad I have the ability to make my own rosin if necessary.

I haven't much experience with badder, been unable to tell looking at it if it is good or not, but it is high quality? You would dab it the same way as a resin or rosin??

Yeah these are being saved for my Sai sessions, had a tiny taste of blueberry in banger and it was amazingly delicious (this was the more expensive one I shelled out for, twice as much as the others)

PXL-20210328-054344445.jpg

I knew cannabiotix was good because I've had it at my buddy's, this is the first time I got it for myself though, and I wish I got twice as much!

I also got three more raw garden, that seemed better than the one I had, obviously fresher (unfortunately they substituted the two fruity ones for floral ones) plus Humboldts Farms Mango Tangie and ABX Lava Cake live resins...

My main consumption is still wrapping concentrates in cotton and using my vapcaps. I just love the slower session and great flavor. I have enails and torches too, but the hits are too powerful. So my next method is the terp pen which is easy and quick. I am currently practicing with my Sai because I want it to be another method in my arsenal. I want it to be a great method for me to use, in between the vapcap and the terp pen. It is a great technique for a lot of people. So I keep at it, and the posideon will be my newest trick to try. I used to hate my vapcaps, but after working at it and discovering IH's it went from my worst to my number one. I want my Sai to work for me also. I have the DT V4 stuff also, but think my Sai stuff is much studier.

Tried using my og vapcap once for concentrate without success lol I've also had coil things from Yocan and Xmax, but they always taste so bad after first use and cannot be fully cleaned easily... Also Tubo Straw though it needs glass bubble cap custom made too... Aside from torch dabs at my buddy's (he has a enail that I've tried as well though he never uses it anymore, some e-rig stuff too, now a Source Versa) For the most part on my own at home, I was doing pure convection dabs running my Splinter Z in very high wattage through water using steel mesh concentrate pad in RBT wpa 19/19 male to male adapter, and this worked pretty well for me! I did some fairly similar successful dabs in my tinymight and tafée bowl as well, though the splinter z was best in my experience for pure convection dabbing (oh also direct torch convection like HydroBrick, DLX, or Essence, all work quite well!)

Yeah I had been watching DivineTribe stuff from a distance and had been focused on finding something that used buckets (got Linx Blaze to test and it seemed nice at first, but I am pretty meh on it now, especially comparing to Sai) and I love how this stuff seems more sleek, machined, durable, even if I'm not sure I'm going to be using on-the-go at all, I like the setup and the spare bucket / heaters... Once I try Sai through water I wonder if I will even want to use the torch at all anymore!

@Shit Snacks, best wishes with your new toys!

And Happy Passover to anyone who celebrates! Vape your Marijuanaka.

Thanks and likewise to you and yours, yum Matzojuana :spliff:

Your concentrates look very tasty. They should work nicely in your Sai. Badders, waxes, sugars all have to do with the consistency after extraction. I don't know a lot about how to get one versus another, but the consistency doesn't necessarily tell you its quality. For me, it has more to do with flavor and effect. Most of those concentrates are extracted in a lab. The dry sift rosin, from what I understand, is different. They collect the dry sift and then press it through a mesh bag using a rosin press. Dry sift rosin has less plant wax and residue compared to flower pressed rosin. I have yet to try dry sift rosin, but would love to someday.

For fun, try taking a small piece of plain cotton (organic if you have it) and flatten it. Not a big hunk, but just enough to make a thin dime-sized disc. Place a small piece of concentrate in it, like a half rice grain size, and wrap the cotton around it. Put that in one of your newer vapcaps and go slow. Heat just to click and slowly taste the flavor that develops. After 2-3 heat cycles you'll start to get some clouds. I usually pull the cotton out after 3-4 hits and pull it like a taffy to coat the cotton fibers and spread the concentrate out, then stuff it back in. Not necessary and can get a little sticky, but you'll get 1-2 massive hits. Then toss the cotton and start again next time. Sorry, I know this is the Sai thread but just wanted to mention it.

Anyway, back to practicing with the Sai.

Thank you so much for that, definitely made the right call grabbing the dry sift rosin, yeah I will get it again from CBX along with their sugar whenever possible... Raw garden is usually a sauce, with some diamonds, hit or miss, although the sugar petals sauce was nicer than I expected, should do better than the purple unicorn I had tried in my Sai+ before, the slymextreme seems to be a bit gassier, I should post photos I guess, I haven't tried that one yet, but the other one I got indica called campo de flores is more of a dense sugar and pretty nice as well... It is similar to the ABX live resin lava cake I also got, that one was pretty good, but a bit gassier maybe? (I'm not such a fan of gassiness personally lol) then the humboldts farms mango tangie is also diamonds in sauce live resin... So yeah I'm thinking primarily I will use the CBX in my Sai, and maybe try some of the other ones in my plus? And regular torch banger

Ah thank you for this tip as well, I did get organic cotton bamboo q-tips so that has been great for security with these new products, as well as my other vape cleaning, but I actually only have the OG all glass vap cap, so perhaps that is why, I don't have any of the newer ones or new tips, I used to have the old TI tip and a Omni original but sold those long ago as I never had much success with them like the OG all glass... Anyway yes off topic here! I'll be back once I try my Sai!

Here in Maine we get a lot of “luminosa“, which is basically of the wax/crumble consistency. Keeping it on subject, I’ve used badder, crumble, luminosa, live resin, and a couple other types of extract in my Sai TI bucket coils and haven’t found any difference in the way they vape, the temps that work for me, taste, or effect. I have only one concern....if the substance is too sticky I avoid it because it becomes a complete pain in the ass to work with.

And speaking of Sai, seems like aromavapes.com is still shipping. Don’t know much about them but from my searches they seem legit. They still have some Sai coils....I’m likely going to order a couple spare TIs just to have on hand. Which probably means the ones I already have will last forever.

Imagine a world where concentrate vape sales come to an end, suddenly. Then all the vapers (at least the 'trate users) start coming up with homebrew fixes and makeshift stuff just to keep their devices going. The vape world would almost become like Cuba. Guys doing whatever it takes to keep their 40 year vapes running. :ko: Hopefully not.

My posideon is due to arrive on Wednesday. I have a Ti and quartz bucket, plus one of those flattened Kanther SS coils. Once those are gone, that's it for a while. I think I'll go back to the Ti bucket and look to dial that in. I still use a pico 75. I almost picked up a new mod, but with a working pico, I decided to save some cash. @arb recommends the voopoo drag, and it looks like the best single battery mod for the money.

@mitchgo61 I haven't heard of luminosa, but that waxy, crumbly badder is popular around here. It is pretty easy to work with. I did recently go for the real saucy stuff with the little crystals. The smell was awesome and it was just so exciting to try something really different. I'm just happy to have the options available. I keep an eye on my dispensary FB pages, and when they show something sticky good I go running down there like it's a candy store. Right now I love the ones that look like the terp sugar @Shit Snacks has. I read that Maine is having some trouble with the state wanting to fuck with the medical program. I hope it works out for you guys.

Yeah we have what many of us think is a near perfect med system...tons of local delivery services with lots of products in all categories at great prices. Our selection is ridiculous. (And you can get a med card on the phone for fifty bucks.) They are trying to overlay some stupid rules about testing and tracking products, inspections, crap like that. Unnecessary and costly regulations that could force some small guys out of business and/or raise prices a bit. Looks like they might pass a quick law to freeze the current program so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Way off topic, so now I'll go fire up the Sai TAF with my new Geek Vape mod. I don't wanna do it, but it's important to stay on topic. The things we do for this community!

Ugh....I think I fried the coil on my SAI TAF using power mode while learning the other modes.

It won't heat up even after taking it all apart, cleaning and putting back together.

The worse part is that I can't find a place to buy a replacement coil for it 😥 Nobody has them in stock or have closed due to the ban.

@Alegre, I don't know if this helps, but I use a pico 75 with my Sai. I had fired it up in the wrong setting and it stopped heating up immediately. The pico would go straight to temp protection and not heat the coil. I assumed I had blown the coil, only to find that it would do the same thing with a replacement coil.
After fucking with it for some time, I discovered that I had the resistance locked on the wrong value. I'm not sure what caused it to switch to a locked resistance, particularly after just messing with it, but after unlocking the resistance the unit started heating the coils again.
A long shot since I don't know what mod you use, but figured I'd mention it.

Set the below up to try because of the matching purple and it actually fits together pretty well I must say! Thanks to @510MOD & @710Coils for the bottomless banger and bubble cap, I can now try my Sai+ through all my various glass pieces and really get testing properly...

PXL-20210403-015825237.jpg

Finally trying out that CBX terp sugar, at 45 watts, some pulsing, only a tiny amount, tough for me to load more because I really want to finish in one hit at a time... Will need to figure out temp control, maybe I'll just do that when I set up the regular Sai and its wpa gear... So for now this worked really well, I think maybe lowering the wattage slightly helped me avoid overcooking along with the pulsing, having the larger longer vapor path was more comfortable, but also this was a tiny dab and still overall a small hit that probably could have been taken further? Effects are nice and taste was fantastic, these are the best concentrate I got of course though!

I now see another benefit of a multi-battery mod. A weighted base to support a nice dab arrangment. Great setup @Shit Snacks! Looks like you have glass beads loaded in your J-hook also?

I knew I should have picked up a bottomless banger when POTV was offing them for 6 dollars each.

Oh no, this is the O'Connell inception jayhook, has a spiked inner stem... I have a nice OGB hook with right angles for great cooling as well, and a custom heady Phineas hook with spikes on the way, which I will be testing eventually in addition to my inline honeycomb bubbler and perhaps fc-mod devastator with a few hydrotube setups...

I knew I should have picked up a bottomless banger when POTV was offing them for 6 dollars each.

I think the ones they had, were the ones for the bottom flow Sai though, they wouldn't work with the top airflow quartz Ti SiC buckets... Glad I grabbed a Poseidon though for $12 for use with my Sai TAF and I also got the whip WPA from HVT with the Sai and coils. That is basically a two-part bottomless banger with a whip to connect them (fortunately I have a lot of silicone tubing from Amazon) but yeah these bottomless bangers from 510 & 710 are more expensive, but still discounted for FC and very nice!

Continued having some good results with the CBX cereal milk terp sugar 45 to 50 watts through the inception j hook... So decided to switch to water using the ABX lava cake live resin sugar, tried to do temp control, but maybe my settings were off because it was not getting hot enough so switched back to wattage and tried a hot start dab which also did not work too well... So I just went back to normal as I was doing before and got a solid hit again finally!

PXL-20210404-055937518.jpg

So yeah I have much more testing to do obviously, but I am already liking the performance I am seeing, just need to get things dialed in, so that is not exactly an easy task with concentrates! Will try though

Also maybe did something stupid, and did a lot of burn offs at 50 watts, 5 second intervals, afterwards to clean the quartz, which it did quite well, so everything got really hot and that is when I remembered it was steel lol think I cooled it down okay...

Yep I hit the wrong link. (I should know better since I bought the TAF coils myself.) Sorry for the confusion! I’ll edit my post.

Oh should we be locking resistance for temp control? I didn't see that mentioned anywhere in the various instructions... Setting it to nickel and a wattage, then setting whatever temperature, still seems too good to be true lol but I'm also not sure what temp range I should be using for these

Okay cool, thanks again, So when I tried it at 300 and 350F, maybe that was too low? Sugar was melting and bubbling, but no vapor yet... since I am not used to using this way, I kind of panicked and qtipped it, wasting the dab lol My wattage was set to 30, not sure if that is too high or too low for quartz temp control? Using 45 to 50 in wattage with it successfully so far...

I thought quartz was higher watts.....didn't I fuck up the quartz and titanium bucket settings a while back?

Edit for a Checkity check 50 watts for quartz 30 for titanium.
Raise your temps if not hot enough I think I was using 380 for low end on those.

Haha yes yes I have it straight now after that initial bungle with the titanium bucket (I even got a spare now anyway but I'm sticking with quartz I think for a while anyway)

I saw someone else mentioned for temp control though, they were not maxing out the wattage, I saw 25 watts, I think with Sequoia /plus, I think with the quartz bucket, So that is why I put mine to 30 watts just in case? I could increase that, or I could increase temp settings, or both?? Which to do first lol

Watts in that configuration is just how fast it gets to temp.......like a gas pedal.
Won't go over that and it is rated for it so if you wanna get up to temp faster do that if not keep it lower.......the beauty of the system.

The wattage will get you to your temp faster as you go up, so if you're chasing flavor, try upping your temps and play around 370-390, from there you can play with the wattage for fine tuning.

I'd give you my settings, but I'm still rocking the Ti buckets. I bought a bunch when I first got it and haven't bothered to try anything else. I like a little lower wattage and a little higher temp with a slightly early draw. It's a great cold start hit for me!

One of the reasons I like the bubbler is that you can see the amount of vapor forming. Without that reference I have no idea what's going on in the metal housing. It gives me the ability to pulse the button and adjust vapor production. Otherwise it's like guessing what's behind the curtain.

Not sure if I understand what tcr really means. Using a Ti bucket, I don't understand the difference between setting it to Ni then maybe 28 watts and temp 390F, versus going into the memory section of my pico and setting it to tcr 315? What is this tcr thing? I hear this being used interchangeably for temp settings.

Also you don't need TCR, that is just for other vapes, not needed here!
