Tetra P80

Hello, this is Clem Fandango. Can you hear me?

Yesterday, I received this custom birdseye maple beauty with random inlay from the Sept drop.

After spending the evening getting to know it, I can say that THE HYPE IS REAL. It’s easily the best portable vape I’ve used. Perfectly extracted AVB that had nothing left, as tested in a FP Showerhead @ 700+ def F.

I had been using a Stempod on a P80 mod for on the go use, but NEEDED to mix some wax or rosin in a basket screen enclosure to get any kind of quality vapor. That baby is going on entexchange and I’ll be using the Tetra whenever I find myself away from the desktop.
Beautiful man, the inlay is amazing! Enjoy

My new P80! It is Wenge with an inlay and a silver fumed green bendy.

Hi guys, i've been searching on the thread but it seems to be mixed opinions about this.

Is there a consensus on which batteries are the best? I have some old VT6 but they start showing the low battery message at like 60-50% and my high ass doesn`t notice the message or that the led doesn't light up.

Also which mm basket screens should I buy to replace the ones the stems, nub, bendy and j-hook?

Thanks for your attention!

Is there a page for pictures of what the wood choices look like? I don't think they're all in that one picture on the p80 page, I'm just wondering what iroko and merbau look like

Try going back through this thread, I'm not sure about iroko but merbau units were shared here from in two batches ago

Does anyone know what the "preheat" setting in the menu does? Is this for the warmup mode? If I think the warmup mode is lasting a little too long what can I do to shorten it without affecting the result too much?

Thanks!

Thanks!
you need warmup + 10-20 seconds of cruising, the coils are set inside glass tubes, they also need to be warmed and that takes additional time..
just on 225c you can use it on-demand, almost, like 5-10 seconds waiting overall.. on 190-210c you need to wait 30 seconds+

if you really need in on-demand, start at 225c or 230c and then lower the temperature.... it can be worked on-demand, just not on low temps!

Thanks for the help! I'm never sure how long to wait before pulling when in on demand since the unit displays the target temp so quickly.

Also unrelated follow up question: do you guys use a mesh screen when using the WPA or do you just load the joint as is since there's already a sort of glass screen built in? It seems like there's a bit more space than the other stem joints if you don't put in a 15mm screen.

I never use warmup.
I find a few seconds on a deep inhale gets the coils HOT for big clouds on first draw every time. As Funky says, P80 LOVES airflow.

*Edit*
Just got back from the mailbox, and my replacement stems have arrived! Spiked bendy is back in session, definitely my favored stem so far.

Also included in the package is a beautiful red amboyna burl stem. It is BEAUTIFUL in person, and longer than I anticipated which should be good for cooling. I am STOKED to try all the different configurations too: I now have the option to use glass tube inserts [or not], and received both spiked and standard tube inserts. For the standard tubes, I'll also have the option to use the amaze coolers. There is also the option to use the S&B capsule baskets and screens. In total, I got 5 capsules, 3 glass standard tube inserts, 2 amaze coolers, and one glass spiked tube insert.

For those also using the woodies, what is your preferred configuration?

Do you prefer with or without the glass inserts?

Do you prefer the spiked insert, or the amaze cooler?

Do you use the S&B capsule system?

On first impression, the capsule lids require a bit more dexterity than I anticipated. I am hopeful to give them a try, but these may present a challenge as my hand has not been 100% since a surgery a few years ago... are the S&B loading tray systems worthwhile? Do they make the process much easier? FWIW, I am having difficulty pulling the lid off the capsule.

So my pick head fell off and now the metal part of the pick is stuck in the vape. It’s in too deep so i cant use pliers or anything. Is it stuck for good?

@Potato - Can you post a picture?
Perhaps you need a set of hemostats?
You can get hemostats just about anywhere, real nice sets with beefy grips and stronger materials can be found in fly fishing stores.

The first combo I tried on my new amboyna burl was with spiked tube insert and S&B capsule with lid. It did do an exceptional job cooling, but the restriction was too strong for me. Using the capsule without the lid would lessen restriction, but I think I am going to prefer to ditch the capsules all together. It will be less restrictive and less parts to keep clean.

Yeah don't worry about the display, if you wanted to use it in on demand mode, at any temp even low, just hold down the button and count to five or even ten, before you start inhaling, to get a heat soak going... And try to take nice long hits if at low temps too!

I only ever load the rimmed baskets themselves basically, and I use my stems inverted so the TP80 is upside down, I keep it in cruise and just remove it to clear each hit so things stay warm at any temp.

I never use warmup.

Yeah I think the S&B capsules are crap personally, I also used them first without the lid, it was okay, but much better using mesh basket screen... what is unfortunate is that they do not fit in the wooden capsule stems, I kind of finagled something else in there, but it's not ideal and because of this I hardly ever use it at all now... A shame since I really really like the amaze cooler actually! Had it in the long bent insert (I would prefer to use glass inserts in all wooden stems for taste purity and cleaning ability) but I've still not tried my short insert with it yet... I think I should take my amaze and put it in my plain old long bent stem probably!

I've been using them now that I switched to a Crafty+ and I love their convenience!

The cap is a bit tricky to remove, but once you get the hang of it (or once you've opened and closed the same capsule multiple times?) it gets easier. I gently pull up on the edge of the lid with my fingernail two or three times, going all around, until it pops open.

I sometimes use the plunger tool to put the lids back on, but usually I just do it with my hands.

I only vape three times a week or so, so I haven't really needed to get a special tray to fill multiple capsules at once.

What I do is:

1. Take the lid of the capsule magazine and put it on top of an open capsule. The opening on the magazine lid fits right over.
2. Grind some herb and dump it onto the lid
3. Use my finger or a brush to push it into the opening
4. Tamp it down with the little poking tool.

Hello !
When you kept the cruise mode is it to constantly keep the heat in the p80 evenly? And you kept the cruise until the end?
And in on-demand mode you have to keep the trigger pressed during inhalation?
So for you which rod does the best cooling work with few restrictions for the p80?
Thank you.

Hello !

Yeah it keeps it nice and warm throughout, and also nice to not have press the button, just hold the stem upside down like it's a pipe and then the TP80 becomes like your lighter! I turn off the cruise whenever I want to and restart it as needed, not always necessarily the most battery efficient (make sure you have eco turned on and set to 1 though to help that), but I have plenty to swap so that's not usually a concern of mine...

And in on-demand mode you have to keep the trigger pressed during inhalation?

Yes you have to keep holding down the button to keep the heater activated, unless you are using cruise (that is what Cruise is, holding down the button for you!) It is less like you are in on demand mode, basically if you press and hold down you are activating the heater, or you can press twice to go into cruise without having to hold it down... Using on-demand mode, without keeping tetra on top upside down and removing it to clear a hit, I would let go of the trigger before I finish inhaling so I can clear the hit that way instead, if that makes sense?

So for you which rod does the best cooling work with few restrictions for the p80?
Thank you.

When you say rod, do you mean glass stem? The old plain long bent stems are great, and the old long custom spiked bent stem, but I don't know if those are available anymore so the short spiky bent stem is also pretty great!

I have not tried the tank yet, but I find the nub not so useful with my tetra personally (I use it with RBT Vapes instead) amaze cooler is really great, but I don't like the wood stems really because of the capsule...

I also have the mini j-hook which is fantastic, but mine is the older female style, I am sure the new male style are also great though!

With a WPA you can use any j hook, I have quite a few now, really that is the best way for cooling in my experience... Very comfortable to use with TP80 upside down like I like!

i guess somebody refunded twice(155CHF is the exact price of the TETRAx) , and he contacted lamart for a private listing sell, and the slots are just a mistake lol? should be only 1 slot tho, so that's why 'do not buy'

about the 400$ / 275$ tetra-evic entx... karma will catch them, just LATER.... ;)
This was for something with his developer, not for a customer. There was an odd behavior that he needed to point out. Not sure if it was settled. If still up, maybe the developer never addressed the issue.

even the CEO of some 'x' c.c company wouldn't buy a 155 chf item which is labeled as 'do not buy this item'
nobody likes to lose 2$ about the c.c payment-refund
;)

edit: seriously tho, i'm 99% it's for funkyjunky special orders.. and he created that page, not some bug

If you are referring to demand mode, what temperature do you begin with? I still have difficulty getting any vapor until the 3rd hit. There is no problem with the unit - it's a problem with how I use it. It is a beautiful piece of work !!!

Thank you, everything is clear regarding the use of cruise mode 😀
Yes actually I mentioned the glass cooling rods.
And I didn't know about j-brackets at all.
I will also go to this configuration. This will allow me to keep the tretra clean and to use it upside down more easily.
Would I be forced to use the female j-hook with a male WPA? and conversely the male hook with a female WPA?
The tank I no longer see on the lamart site and I do not have the impression that there has been a return on this rod and it looks like it is no longer in production?
For the capsule rods since I know they should be used with aluminum capsules for optimal use outdoors are no longer for me.
I don't want aluminum in my vape.

I do not use On Demand mode as I don't like to leave a bowl partially vaped. I find it less efficient.

I go straight to cruise and take in all the goodness back to back to back to back until it fully exhausts my material, usually around 2:30-3:00 mins. Try this mode and see if you don't notice a tremendous difference on your first draws.
