I've had a couple days with my new Azure VapBong B-Stock and all I can say is wow! Starting with the packaging everything is packaged very secure and the only thing I would recommend is that they tape the ball into it's cardboard spot as mine was rolling around a little but didn't have anything to smash against (except more cardboad). I like the art work and there was extra foam pieces inside the cardboard box to keep the breakables safe. These are beautiful devices in person, pictures just don't do justice. My B-stock azure isn't as blue as the original and there are a few imperfections (hence why it's a b-stock) but they don't take away from the device and make it more unique imo. Where I'm using mine I can't tell if it's just the reflection of a light I have near and/or the change in angle when I go to hit it but I swear I can see some more yellow in the finish that looks kinda trippy.

I gave mine a good 20 minute burn off at full power and then dropped the voltage down to around 11v which drops as the power supply heats up. Mine is settling around 10.7 volts now I believe. I was giving about 10 minutes for heat up in later sessions but it needs a little longer for best results, 20 or 30 minutes works really well. My ambient temperature is only about 15°C/59°F where I have it set up so that may have something to do with it.

Talk about free flowing! Each draw is barely noticable on my lungs except for the nice chug the VaporBong makes as I inhale. There are roughly 6 holes on the down stem and it feels like a good set up with just the right amount of diffusion.

Loading is very easy with the included loading tool but dumping straight from my grinders isn't an issue either as the opening is really big in the herb ball. Stirring is required as I get a hot spot on the back side of the screen but all that means is picking up the ball, giving a poke at the bottom of the screen to loosen the flower, a little shake to mix everything up and then lightly tamping it. The more I pack the more I notice a need to stir basically.

The flower doesn't last long at my current settings, the first hit is lower vapour more flavour and then the 2nd and 3rd hits make me feel like a dragon with big clouds. Leaving the ball packed to preheat may increase that first draw. How long it continues after that depends on how much I pack. It's odd because with my modded Elev8r and SSV I feel them hit harder but the VapBong has been hitting me harder in effects. That just means more testing I guess :D which I have no problem with, this device is a pleasure to use.

Between the artistic look, heavy feel, built in water filtration, large bowl, powerful effects and good flavour I am extremely happy I discovered Art of Vapor.

I had a laugh when I added roughly 300mL of water and for some reason decided to weigh the device and it came came out to exactly 4.20lbs. Coincidence? Yeah probably but it made me pretty happy.

This works great for me. I Start off by heat soaking at full temp for 30 minutes. Take the ball/bowl off after 20 minutes to kool off a bit so it's easier to handle. and turn my vvps down to 9. I then tear a nice bud into small fluffy pieces using the funnel cup to hold the pieces. When you have as much as you need/want fill ball/bowl to desired amount. Then I shake and break up pieces after 3 hits, then I repeat. temp stepping all the way, approximately .20 each time. I'm usually done at 10.25

I find hand torn pieces to last longer and not break down so fast. The more surface area the more vapor.

Nice piece by the way

How much cheaper are the b-stock units vs. the full price ones? The b-stock still looks great!

Skim through the thread, I mentioned the US end price between a b stock and classic, also shared a bunch of photos of past b stock... Often it is just something superficial, imperfect glaze or even just different than how it is supposed to look, so yeah sometimes it is one of a kind even more unique and potentially cooler looking...

I cleaned my plum jelly bandit today, easy rinse with a tiny bit of iso (wiped to the downstem a bit too) and water, followed by another rinse with hot water. Did the first few hits of the fresh herbs I picked up, some nice cereal milk (a creamy fruity 5050 cookies hybrid), dry before filling it up with water. It really does seem to just be better with water overall, how It is designed regardless of the form factor, it really is simply a vapor bong!

Just easy delivery, everything I've had in quarantine is from that basically, not sure if my go to dispensary is still operational even... right now I've got the cereal milk, lemon meringue, blue flame, candyland cookies, grease monkey, strawberry shortcake, OZK, tiger's milk, blueberry cheesecake, plus nugs of a few others!

I'll have to try playing around with the voltage and grind, so far I've been using a medium/fine grind but some good chunks are always great for flavour. Makes me lick my lips just thinking about it . I wasn't sure how much I could reduce voltage after it heat soaks but if you're going that low I'll have to give it a try. Do you keep your unit on for long periods of time? If my memory serves me correctly these can be operated like a log vape right? I wasn't sure with the coil glowing when I looked up inside the heater soni reduced after the initial burn off and I was going to read back through the thread but I'm sure pretty sure it's fine.

@Shit Snacks
Does you prefer the VapBandit or the VapBong or are they similar enough to be a draw? I could see myself adding a VapBandit, they're sharp.

Yeah it can be kept running, and supposedly normal for the kanthal to glow constantly... Not sure anyone else mentioned to burn off, doesn't seem necessary, but I guess it happens naturally just letting it get warmed up... For the most part I just plug in my vvps and it goes to whatever it wants, today was 11.8, it fell down to 10.8 by the time I started my first bowl, then settled at 10.5 and is now at 10.4... I don't typically adjust it much during a session but sometimes I do crank it up later... I do try to always use a coarser grind with mine though, although often finer than it should be, easier to keep clean with the chunkier consistency and yeah preserve flavor... It works with anything of course!

That is a stunning shade of purple.

hey i actually kinda need some help to figure this vape out. i've tried fine, medium and coarse grinds, light pack and no pack, big and small bowls, and it just seems all over the place. i always let it heat soak for at least 20-30 minutes when i turn it on and when i change temperature. i've had it for a week and i still haven't managed to find a good temperature, it's always either close to combustion or not strong enough to get good clouds. i did combust once btw, at 11.4 with a medium-large bowl, but i've also gone higher than that on other occasions and it was fine. 10.4 is nice for large bowls, but then it hits more like a drawn out session than a bunch of strong hits. i think i'm expecting too much precision from that voltage knob tbh, should i just stop messing with it once it's on? i always try to keep it fixed at the same temperature, i don't let it "wander", and since i'm still in the testing phase i change temperatures often. does leaving the ball attached all day make a difference?

other than that: shipping took 3 days to another EU country and it looks stunning. it's crazy smooth and i love how it chugs. the heater gets really hot to the touch, but it doesn't seem to radiate much which is great. maintenance seems easy enough, the screen is easy to pop out and torch and you can clean the bong part easily by just letting hot water run through it (watch out for the electronics!). also, i would've gladly paid a little more for a better voltage adapter. i hope they figure out this new backwards compatible power supply they talked about lol

My advice is to set it somewhere in the range of 11v to 11.5v and leave it. When you see voltage drop as the Vapbong warms up, I think that’s just a function of the resistance of the heater wire increasing as temps increase. It’s not actually lowering the temperature. I set it to 11.5v and by the time I go to use it, it’s more like 10.7v. And that works great for me. If I were to bring it back to 11.5v after it was already heat soaked, that would be way too hot. Let it warm up for at least 30 mins. This is the kind of device you turn on and leave on. I like to fill up the hole for the screen with finely ground flower.

the Vapbong is going to take a while to react when you turn the knob because the entire ceramic head needs to settle in at the new temp. so figuring out your favorite voltage may take some time. Adjust by .1v at a time and give plenty of time for everything to settle at the new temp

High,

You should start off with just enough to make a small torn up mound on the screen. Temp step a little every time you shake/stir the ball/bowl. I turn mine down and start at 9. volts. If your not getting a good hit step it up to 9.5 You'll find your sweet spot eventually . And it's usually a succession of temps Mine is 9-10.5. Make sure to keep stirring/shaking the ball/bowl between hits and if you wanna take a break leave the ball/bowl off the vapbong. I use a roll of electrical tape. The ball/bowl fits perfect.

I personally turn mine off when I'm done with it for the night.

I'm on my 3rd one and they all used different temp setting. Each one is unique so they all work a little different

I posted this on here just before.

Technically more surface area more vapor produced would apply to grinding more instead of handbroken pieces, that actually reveals more herbal surface area for more vapor... but yes it would extract quicker, particularly at upper voltage, depending how much you load and how large your hits...

I actually used 11 volts last night, with some medium fine ground grease monkey, still lasted a decent while, though if too much is loaded could get a little scorched at the top during a long hit. I never go below 10 volts, I feel like I wouldn't be as satisfied with that, when using through water at least? Hmm

After a few hours I'm settling at 10.5v. An even layer on the screen not much above the ceramic lip gives me best results with minimal stirring. I loaded up a massive bowl, probably 0.8-1.0 yesterday but I did not like the unevenness of the AVB after a couple hits. "Smaller" is better, plus my draws are short, I average 4 seconds to completely fill my lungs. I take 7 breaths in a row essentially because of the lack of draw resistance. Hits me like a train. It's wôôôorking!

I just turned the voltage down on mine to 9.0v for my next bowl to give it a try. She's been nice and toasty all morning :leaf: . House reno's have been enjoyable.

If you had to put performance of this vape on par with another more mainstream vape, which one would be the most similar?

Others have said Herborizer or Verdamper, though I haven't tried those... to me its sort of like an electric HydroBrick in use and how it hits... with kanthal heating element and the handmade glazed ceramic parts, which honestly do make it pretty totally unique based on my experience and knowledge...

@lazylathe can you compare this beast to the GS for example, like is this device bring edible effects to the head ?
is the fact that it's heavy and shpere heater (rare, most of the heaters are cylinders) make a difference?

The heater itself is kanthal wire wrapped around and then through a tube of ceramic afaik. It hits pretty hard and maintains heat well I've found and I have mine in some cooler ambient temperatures. Once it heat soaked it's pretty stable. I've been leaving mine on all day and coming back to it as I need to and it never dissapoints. If

If I don't let it heat soak for long I can turn the voltage to max (12.5v) for a few minutes and then reduce it instead of starting at a lower voltage amd let it heat soak longer.

I'm still having the best luck loading a "puck" of flower. I load and then tamp into the space for the screen not filling above the rim as much as possible. I still give a stir or two but this gives me the best ABV.

i think this is the way dr colly the creator does it too. from what i have seen on his youtube. probably follows his design, good call!

Canadian lost in Europe
Having been reunited with my lovely VapBong after being away from it since March, now I'm going to share some impressions over the last few days of use (sober October is a bust :p )

It is the single best chill group session vape out there -
the bowl is gigantic! Hits for hours, and they all taste nice and hit full. Surprisingly full flavor considering there's water filtration.

Even with a reasonable 0.2 gram bowl, it extracts very well.

It's so smooth - Vapor quality
between the bubbler and large vapor path, the hits are so nice on the throat, mouth, and offers a great experience

This is the hardest hitting vape out there, bar none. While you can achieve near-pyrolysis, you will 95% likely run it medium temp the majority of time. For a medium-high temp extraction, you can get super powerful hits for hours. No joke, I hit this thing continuously for two hours and was getting very strong hits nonstop. You can pack this with more than 2.5g no problem.

This means you have a bowl you can hit for hours with friends without issue. Nothing has such a big bowl and can match the pure convection power. The bowl shaped the way it is promotes convection which hits your herb in all directions. Not linear like the Grasshopper, SSV43, Flowerpot, or any other convection vape out there. Fluid dynamics of the best.

Hit density might not be as nutty as a dab or pyrolysis DynaVap to be fair.

Set it and forget it -
I just let my temperature/power sit at ~11.3v. I'm fine without precise temperature control on a unit like this. Set it and forget it. You'll incrementally adjust it, but infrequently.

The experience -
Bar none, the absolute best. The ritual - the experience. Grind your herb, dump that onto the ceramic loading tool. Funnel it into the bowl. Smell the bowl. Slide it on, cover carb and inhale deep. Satisfying churgle, smooth flavor, and a fluffy exhale.

Remove bowl, smell, enjoy, pass around like little tea bowls. I will get one or two more bowls so each person can have one when I have friends over. To stir, simply place hand over hole on bowl, shake. Smell, warm toasted herb. Amazing, like light roast coffee. I may add some nice coffee beans and see how that is.

Cleaning -
Ezpz. Don't need to clean it often (or ever), but citrus cleaner or iso, swish and rinse.

Complaints -
Cables, but whatever. The power source is a bit primitive but really don't care much - the voltage control works fine.

Overall -

Very primitive & organic feeling. Earthy, deep, bright, peppery flavors come through especially well. (Limonene, Myrcene, b-Caryophyllene, very well).

Elegant yet earthy feel to its handling. If a fun unit to use. I will put a hookah hose in mine and have it serve as a whip too :)

(Highly) recommend. Perfect home companion to my long wood stem Dyna + IH. Not the end all and be all, but about as close to it for me. It's all about it in the user experience. After how many dozens of vapes, this one's now my favorite :)

@deadlytoaster unfortunately you're not able to buy spare ball bowls because they will not fit your individual vapbong properly, only the one that came with it was made to fit it at the time the clay was worked... I have been thinking about, perhaps when I finally get a fancy crazy custom, that I might request a second ball bowl be made for it too.
