What's up folks! My wife and I picked up our first dry herb vape back in April. I decided to go with the FF2+, primarily for the stealth factor and on demand convection tech. I'm not going to lie....the first few sessions were rough. After more than a few frustrating sessions, we finally got things dialed in! BUT....occasionally our material will combust seemingly randomly. It's probably happened to us about six times to date. I keep the FF exceptionally clean, in fact I clean it before each use. The chamber screen is completely clear. I'm not overpacking the bowl....the material has plenty of breathing room. BTW, I'm not talking simply "darkened" material....the material turns cherry red, and gets "cooked" on to the upper glass portal. The bowl continues to smolder slightly ( for a very short time period) even after disengaging the heating element. It's an extremely unpleasant experience to be taking a nice long pull and then suddenly your vapor turns to scorching smoke. My wife burned her throat on one occasion and was tender for a few days afterwards.... she's at the point where she won't even use the device now because even though it hits as expected 39 out of 40 pulls, she's gun-shy and I don't blame her. It's also happened to me before but I have a bit more experience with old school combustion than she does.....but it's still a shock to the system. After WEEKS of contacting customer support, I finally got a RMA # from them. Seriously, this company's support has been shit show to deal with (granted the pandemic is to blame, but frustrating nonetheless).

Here is my question: Has this happened to any other FF owners? I ordered the device from the FF website, so I know it's not a counterfeit. Combustion has occurred at temps ranging from 360 to 410. Does this sound like a faulty unit guys? I'm hoping they do the right thing and just send me a new unit but I'm not holding my breath. Thanks in advance for your input!

Thanks, I have one working fine I was just looking for a spare. I bought the one I have now from slickvapes a year or so ago. In fact I think I posted that was where I was getting it from in one of the closed firefly forums. I'm in the US and they shipped it to me just fine, but that was pre covid. I'll keep on the look out, I like to have an extra on hand because the proprietary battery is the weakest link.

cheers

To be honest , firefly has been out of the battery since 4/30 when then notified me they told me it was gonna be two weeks??!???!!!!??!! So, since I'm a heavy user I got some from slickvapes. Firefly just refunded.my.money this week since they couldn't place the.order. I'm afraid alot.of.China Manufacturing is.been switched over.to PPE that the world Will need for next.two years, not to mention if you can get it made then shipping/customs has been backed.up and slow during covid. Hope it helps...

I always wanted a second lid just in case. But can never find the 2+ lids even before the pandemic. Seems everyone sells the 2 lids. Just gotta take care of this unit. My girlfriend was getting huge hits out of it when she tried it thr first time. No learning curve for her. And she’s been using my conduction vapes. Thought she would have issues with this one. Nope. Loves it. Even loves how it’s like a pipe and the touch sensors on the side.

This isn’t the first time they have been out of batteries. Before they launched the plus, they (and other retailers) had been out for awhile as well. And I am pretty sure it happened before that too.

If these vape companies insist on using proprietary batteries, they really need to do a better job of keeping up with demand. Especially when the battery doesn’t last all that long.

So, while I am sympathetic to the COVID complications, this has been an ongoing issue they really need to get ahead of.

Got rid of my FF2+ and have missed it dearly. Great device for concentrates too to my surprise, then saw people who use it primarily with them! Might look for an old 2 in Jet Black and call it a day.

Well I know how much you put these vapes through the ringer. Seems like no vape can handle your usage. How many batteries were you going through per day? How many bowls?

Anybody else burn out a coil yet? How long is the coil expected to last generally?

Dang that IS putting it through the test :)

Id put mine away recently, but brought it out last night for some concentrates. Had it in my mind that I was going to sell it but that thought soon left.

30-40 bowls a day over 3 months. Damn man. That’s like what I’ll do in a year. If I’m lucky I’m 2-3 bowls a day. Your an animal.

Just wanted to update this post in case any other FireFly owners run into the same issue. They sent me a brand new FF2+ which should arrive today. Obviously, there must be a known issue with some of their heating elements because it doesn't sound like they even attempted to repair the unit I sent in. Looking forward to taking her for test drive this evening! Cheers!

FML - Fucking firefly! They sent the same unit back to me....not a "replacement" as they indicated in their email to me. No explanation as to what was wrong with the device or the steps taken to fix it. Hell, I could smell BURNT weed through the damn shipping box.

When I inquired about an update yesterday, this was their response.

Thank you for contacting Firefly.

At this time we are happy to tell you that your replacement order has been shipped.

Here is your tracking number:

Be honest, is that wording extremely misleading or is it just me? I'm pretty much done with them at this point. Sorry to vent...just extremely frustrated.

Have you tried your unit yet? Is it possible they did replace the heater? Or is it still performing the same way as before?

I sent them an email earlier explaining my frustration. To their credit, they sent a reply fairly quickly explaining that the restrictor plate and the heater coil were replaced. I've not tested yet, but will give it try later.

I’ve had my fair share of issues with vapes. Never with this one. If you got a faulty one. I hope they rectified the issue. And if they truly did. You are in for a very nice treat. Just remember to stir. Every 2-3 hits a nice stir is needed.
