Heady Glass Appreciation

SSVUN~YAH

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
I love me some scientific glass but I adore those beautiful colors much more. Please post your favorite heady pieces here. I'll kick it off with a pic of my purps! @joda_glass up front (peep that dropdown by @scratchedglasswork on bottom pic), TAG beauty on the left, @coojoglass on the right and my prized possession of my entire collection (less than half pictured) @blazedglass ball rig in the back.

I can't believe I've had this gem for 20 years!

It is a combustion piece and no longer used, but it is quite spectacular at just a few inches long.
This ridiculousness takes chillums to an all new level. This piece has two opals, a giant dichroic swirl, and amazingly tight wig wags. Additionally, the entire clear center section is an alcohol chamber and meant to be kept in the freezer. Cork the hole (not a carb) and toss into the freezer, the whole piece comes out FROSTY and hits like a palm sized ice bong.

I would welcome any information on this blower if anyone recognizes the work... I've been hunting for information on it for the last 10 years but has been unrecognizable to every person I have shown. I have more pics, but it appears we might be limited to 5 pieces of media per post.

Woooooooow i love it!! You guys have some beautiful art, and now I must see more SALT.

Pictures don't do these any justice, especially taken in my current state, but here are my two pieces that I gifted myself with after two significant personal milestones. Haven't used these, i cant bring myself to accidentally break them that way (it WILL happen with me)

Glass by AJ , this is a translucent wine red with these incredible intricate spirals. Gives me shivers when I try to follow them too closely (thanks to Ito's "Uzumaki"). Love the colors

I love nudibranches. They fascinate me their brilliant colors and body forms. This piece has I forget how many bulbs with these gorgeous little "flowers"20200515_183959.jpg20200515_184131.jpg

That’s a major bummer, Any luck hitting him up? I used to hang around his shop a bit until he moved recently.

Not sure how to get hold of him nowdays either, I got my peice through ALT.. best part of a decade+ ago.

Plus I live just a few km away.. across the pond.

Been eyeing Mobius's shop, they blow downstems which would fit spot on.. but OOS on the Matrix.

So someone [outside of this forum] asked me about purchasing this piece. I have absolutely no clue as to what this might cost today, if anyone would like to give me any guidance, I would welcome it! Please message.

In my experience, that can vary widely, depending on how well known the artist is, and who the seller is. One thing I like about looking for glass on instagram is that I can follow new, up and coming, glass artists, and get their lovely pieces at a significantly lower price than they will be when the artist has made more of a name for themselves.

I don't know what you paid for it, but I suspect that you could at least get a couple hundred bucks for it. But the price can really depend on it's value to you personally, since it's probably one of a kind, by the look of it.

Even though I've only combusted a couple times in the last three years or so, I still find myself wanting to buy pretty glass pieces meant for combustion, just to add another piece of art to my collection. Like, for example, I still want to get a Liberty 501 Deep-Carve spoon one of these days to go on the display shelf.

she sure is a pretty little thing

Thanks. I picked her up for $50 + shipping from an up and coming American IG glass blower.

There's a chunk of opal in the magnifier, you just can't see it very well in the pic.

I've often used it with a 30mm banger and bubble cap for concentrates. It provides lovely and very tasty hits when used in that banger-hanger format. I found a bubble cap made by a completely different IG glass blower that matches it perfectly!
