Dabpress Rosin Plates

That is awesome!

I can't go without mine either! So glad Psycho introduced me to this lineup!

Switching from bottle tech to square pucks has also been a HUGE game changer for me. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a blowout with the square pucks! I am doing 10+g per puck and able to be very efficient with time.

Tell us more about square pucks....
What size is the mold?
With bags, what size? What micron?
Do you pack where the filter lays down vs bottle tec upright bag?
Efficiency % vs bottle tec?
Thanks.....inquiring minds want to know. ‍

Team NO SLEEP!
Bottle tech was limiting me to 5g pucks, or two 5g pucks at a time which was a bit fiddly and required a bit of mindfulness, but I was getting good results using 2x4 bags.

In an effort to make things easier on myself, I got the larger pre press and moved up to 2.5x4.5 bags so that I could do 10g in one puck, also bottle tech. I NEVER found good results with this combo and always had a blowout, sometimes minimal and sometimes it would all go to shit, but never did it come out perfect.

After trying several different companies on bags, I gave up on the 2.5x4.5 bottle tech and got a 2x4 mold from DP, it looks like it is on a tremendous sale right now... if you are considering, now is the time to pick this up: https://www.dabpress.com/products/dp-pm4007?variant=19756805783625

You put the included plastic plate on the bottom of the pre mold, load with material, and put another plastic plate on top before pressing. The puck comes out of the mold sandwiched between the two plastic plates, and you slide the whole sandwich into a 2x4 bag. I am using 160 and 120 for my current material. A small squeeze against the side of the filter bag and the plastic plates release from your puck and slide right out. I tuck in the end, no special folds, and press.

No worry about a 10g rectangle puck fitting on the plates, it could fit a 30g rectangle puck there is so much space. After the press, I am blown away by seeing NO stress on the bag and seams. I am taking it to what I think are ridiculous pressures, even took it up to 4000 on the gauge just for the hell of it on trim. NO stress at all, nowhere near blowing out.

Efficiency might be down a little bit, but not enough for me to care. I could always go back, fold my pucks and do a second press (but unlikely). The ease of handling and making these rectangle pucks, versus bottle tech, has stollen me to the rectangle side... and not that bottle tech is difficult, but IMO the whole process is just easier and my flow faster and more efficient when I use the rectangle.

I admit, I wonder if I am doing it "wrong". I seem to be the only person on many many threads, that has abandoned bottle tech for rectangle pucks when pressing flower.

A LOT of these sites are popping up lately offering brand names of all kind of products at outrageously low prices...

They use all kinds of SEO tricks to get ranked on first pages of search engines so they look like legit sites with lots of traffic...

Don't fall for this bullshit to save money. Remember the old axiom..."If an offer looks too good to be true, you're probably right"

FUCK THESE SCAMMERS!

Like this press from a couple days ago, 10g bud (I never press under 10g, may as well stick with a hair straightener if you do) with just under 19% yield, I move the mat around to get different colored blobs as the rosin flows, these blobs act differently on the taste buds which is good for a one strain man like me to get variety,

Imagine the mess on the press if it was not dripping.
The blobs are quite different in color in person, my led lighting for photos is not great.

Funny that you say that bc I'm coming from the straightener to this. Still waiting on pump.

Almost there...
Looks like I am the proud half owner of a Dabpress 6 ton rosin press!
A good friend swindled me into paying 50% so his wife did not go mental on him...LMAO!!!
He also wants me to to keep it at my place as he has young kids. I think I am winning so far!

Only issue is I do not use concentrates, or should I say I am going to be starting a concentrate journey.
Kind of pushed into the deep end of the pool here but think I have the just of it, just need to practice and a few essentials.

Going to have to bust the Errlectric Concentrate Station out of the cupboard and clean the Quartz dish!
At least I kept the gear!

@lazylathe - 1, friend - 0, I think think you're winning!

Congrats, it's a wonderfully interesting journey! I wasn't much of one for concentrates either, until they were readily available and I tried them....now starting material is my only issue, that and not driving up my tolerance.

You're starting with some prime equipment, a little knowledge and you'll be dangerous!

Dabpress 6 Ton safely delivered thanks to Amazon Prime!
It is way smaller than I originally thought it would be, a very manageable size and quite easy to move around.
Some assembly is required but it is very easy! Two side plates need to be screwed on as well as the DripTech rods need to be threaded into tapped holes.
All required tool are INCLUDED!
5 minutes of assembly and you are ready to flip the switch and get squishing and dabbing!

@dabpress.com
I do have 2 points I would like to mention, 1 surprised me and the other is a suggestion!
Firstly the controller box does not have any feet to raise it off the desk. I have it on some of the packaging material for now as I do not want to scratch up the bottom surface.
Maybe some little rubber feet?

And secondly, have you had any requests for a fitted cover for any of your presses?
Mine is living in the basement and it can get dusty down there. I have a black garbage bag covering it for now.
I would love a nice DabPress fitted cover!

It arrives neatly packaged in a fairly small box with expanded plastic stuff protecting all the components.
A silicone mat and some instructions for use are included.

I was very happy to receive the black handle as well!! Was hoping for it over the red...LOL!
IMG-20200624-WA0007.jpg

After removing the components in the first layer , the press is in full view and it is a sight to behold!
Anodizing is perfect on all parts. Nicely rounded edges and just a good fit and feel to the machine.
IMG-20200624-WA0009.jpg

A quick view of the controller box, very neat and quite lightweight.
3 Switches on the back, Main power and one for each PID.
IMG-20200624-WA0011.jpg

A few minutes later it is set up and heating...
IMG-20200624-WA0014.jpg

It arrived preset at 190F, so I just used that to start with.
I did not weigh anything and don't think I will ever be into the numbers game as it will just be an occasional thing.
For the first press I used roughly 3 grams of Pack-A-Punch Purps, a really tasty and heavy hitting strain when vaped. Really thick vapor on this one.
I compressed it into a ball by hand and placed between doubled up Reynold's PP.

IMG-20200624-WA0019.jpg

It was really a small ball of bud, just for the first test. No bag used either due to size but I do not think I will use a bag unless pressing larger amounts.
I slowly pressed it and stopped to allow the bud to heat up nicely then I brought on the power!
Had a bit of bleed through and a bit escaped onto the plate.
I was greeted by this about 90 seconds later!

Back and forth into and out of the fridge to make collection easier, I ended up with this.

IMG-20200624-WA0023.jpg

2 slight inclusions but not bad for a first timer!!

From that small amount of herb, I squished about 10 grain of rice dabs!
Brought out my old Errlectric Concentration Station with Quartz dish and set to hitting my first real home made dabs!
WOW!!! So smooth and tasty! So potent and long lasting effects!
I dabbed it all last night and did not have the typical brain fog from vaping herb when I woke up. I did feel a bit left today and not quite centered as if my being was still baked.

Definitely fun to play around with but I will always love my full flower high and medication!
Then again, since I have started growing again, squishing may be the best way to preserve all the goodness!

Any tips appreciated!!!
