Volcano Hybrid

Yeah it's still great, even better with the new parts although I wasn't unhappy before; it's always felt safe to me. The thing's like using 10 mightys at once, bit of a lighter flavour than the mighty but strongest high of anything I've tried. Really gets you on another level especially if you're used to portables.

Yea I finally bought it and I'm agree, stronger high compared to the mighty for the same amount of weed I think, really nice !! And 20°c more degrees is really useful for vaping hash
In term of vapor density I just think we get thicker clouds with the mighty

IMO, yes...without a doubt.

Others will disagree.

You need to read recent sections of this thread (prob already did) and do some due diligence on aluminum (no, Dorothy, it really isn't as deadly as plutonium! haha) and make up your mind about that also.

I would suggest doing searches on terms like "how much aluminum does the average American consume", "how safe is aluminum cookware", "what are the recommended maximum amounts of aluminum allowed" and stuff like that.

Its no secret that I personally think that some people have a HUGE, hysterical, overreaction to just the word "aluminum" haha

So, you need to ferret out your level of comfort.

By the by, I find the ceramic coating on my AL Hybrid parts to be working perfectly with no signs of scratching or dust particles.

It looks kind of... gaudy to me tbh; I love the classic silver. But to each their own! I do like that the classic still exists as a product :)

On another note, has anyone in the US ordered something from S&B's website during this whole pandemic?

I ordered some bags, a wear and tear, and a spare easy valve filling chamber a little over a week ago. My order was confirmed almost immediately after submission and I of course expect some delays b/c of what's happening in the world, but I haven't heard anything since and don't see any more notes about delays on their website.

In fact, they're even running a sale for 4/20, so they're open and taking orders. Kind of sucks I could've saved like $30 if I'd waited a week but I was hoping, even with delays, that the order might ship sometime in the last week and their USA location being in Oakland, I'd be able to use the new parts for 4/20. But I'll admit that was kind of a pipe dream anyways with everything going on in the world so I probably should've just waited and saved $30, even though I had no way of knowing they'd be having a sale. I would've normally ordered from PIU but all the S&B stuff seems to be out of stock there. Also weirdly enough, I ordered my original Easy Valve starter kit from Amazon but all S&B products seem to have disappeared from there, all that's left is "ODM" products aka knock offs.

But I digress from my original ask, has anyone in the USA ordered something from S&B during this pandemic and if so, how long did it take for your order to ship? I sent them an email just before posting so hopefully I'll receive some sort of official response sometime next week.

Hello, but did you get an order confirmation? my complaint was missing 4 times in the system.
do you only need new balloons with easy valve? those with or without balloon adapters?

I had ordered a Hybrid just as the quarantine started and didn’t expect to receive anything. But I got an email on a Wednesday April 8 that my order was shipped from Germany and by Friday the 10th I had a brand new Hybrid with new parts in hand. It took about a month total for me to process my order. I hope this gives you some reference.

They were already installed ready to go. The box had a Silver foil sticker that read NEW Ceramic-Coated filling Chamber.
I have used it everyday for the past week and a half and have no issues with filings or any kind of metal dust from any of the components.
I also own a Mighty and can say the vapor from the Hybrid is very similar to the Mighty however it is a bit smoother and I feel holds more flavor. I also added the Obsidian and that changes it considerably it makes it even smoother yet.
I highly recommend the Obsidian this product is a must have for the Volcano. Not to mention their customer service was A+. Ryan is a stand up guy over at Magma Industries, if you have any issues send him an email and he responds almost immediately.

If you screw the bottom half of your housing onto the Hybrid does it push the ceramic bowl out of the plastic housing? Just curious if they completely re-worked it or if it's the same as previous units.

If I lock the Orange ring holding the bowl down on the top of the Volcano it does not pop it out. It does however not sit as flush as if it was not locked down like as if it was sitting on the counter. I’d say it creates a .5 mm lip all the way around.

Has anyone had the melting plastic problem?

I was going to buy a hybrid but this, in addition to the metallic dust, has put me off.

I dunno if just a handful of pics should put me off if a lot of folk are having no issues with their hybrid.

I'm thinking more of going with a classic model due to what I've read.

Anyone had melting issue or no issues?

It wouldn't let me post this in the specific vape area.

I bought mine immediately after it was released. I have had no issues whatsoever and there is nothing I would rather use to heat my flower. I unequivocally love and recommend the Volcano hybrid.

Not me and not a bit...and I run at 446 and let the chamber sit and heat up on the device (the conduction component) for 90-120 seconds before hitting the air button. My oven gets hot but no melting or charring of plastic at all.

And mine is an early model also that had to be retrofitted with ceramic coated oven bits.

I was going to get the Hybrid or Classic but I dunno how a £500 vape can be made of materials that are melting (For some users). I'm thinking maybe the classic is more reliable than risking for the sake of the whip and some gadget features I'm getting a £500 vape that's had power failures & metallic dust but this plastic issue is worrying me.

Do you regret buying it?

How long have you left the chamber on whilst using the whip?

I have not had melting or charred plastic either w bag or whip. As for whip, it’s in there as long as it takes to kill a Volcano load. A good bit, IME.

No problems here at all.

It is expensive, nothing wrong w the Classic, it’s your decision to make, right??

Newbie to the forum here, what is your preferred personal volcano session? I like to sesh along to some YouTube vids, and find myself running the whip for like 2 hours straight (temp step from 330f to 400f or so, regular bowl size). I've had the hybrid for maybe 6 months now, and still loving every minute with it! Yes I do bags, superbags, and have the obsidian.. just wondering what others do and what their techniques are!

The new coated bowls are supposed to fix the dust and newer plastic housing chambers are supposed to more resilient. I don't recall who here had major melting issues but I though his new housings fixed that. Too medicated to remember that right now.

I guess it depends on what you want from a Volcano that would determine if the Classic or the Hybrid is a better bet. I love the new gold version they have personally and the classic is a proven model just with a few less features.

No melting here for me either. Been using my hybrid 6 months straight. I don't vape above 400 very often, so I'm not sure if that's where the issues start.

Also, with the dosing capsules, I noticed that the air flow gets restricted substantially for me. I rarely use those as well, however I wonder if that would heat the bowl up to a hot enough temperature over enough time to do some damage. Haven't tested that and I don't feel inclined to tho!

Have you been using the whip or just balloons?

Hard to imagine from balloons the housing will be on the unit long enough to melt.

If it is from whip use then how can this have got past quality control/testing? Dunno how s&b have commented on metallic dust but not the melting?

If the whip feature is the issue I'm not sure what the point is in paying an extra £200 for the Hybrid? I can live with classic heat up times.

I've used the whip for hours straight.. again no problems for me. I find it hard to believe it got past quality control too. Which makes me think that those that had melting issues are very few in number.

Now this is pure speculation on my part, so please don't make any more of it than that.

But, I do remember a handful of people having melting/charring issues with the orange part of the chamber...and also having issues with metal oven retaining clip breakage I believe.

It came up, people justifiably complained, they got new parts, and I personally have not seen another similar case in quite a while.

When I was in college (back in the stone age) I had a part time job at a company that sold motorcycle parts to dealerships (think batteries, chains, and a ton of other stuff) and that's where I worked. However, there was another side of the company that did plastic injection molding for optical quality face shields, tear offs, visors, and other motorcycle related plastic products.

So, there were a lot of barrels of plastic of varying quality. You did not need to make black visors out of the same high quality virgin plastic that was used for face shields and tear offs.

Now here is the speculation....S&B does NOT do their own plastic injection molding...I can almost guarantee that they contract it out. It would not surprise me if a batch of orange oven parts were made with the wrong plastic material (generally comes in pellets), it impacted some customers (doesn't seem like a lot...but I don't have a count or anything...just my perception), and that it was caught and corrected fairly quickly.

Ok, end of rampant speculation.....I could be utterly wrong also! LOL

Sometime I like to use a bong/bubbler with the whip, I set temp to 435f and so I get huge fresh clouds without sore throat or popcorn taste, quite nice

Initially I was the biggest fan of the Hybrid as my posts here would show, but I’m one of the people with multiple failures of the housings.

I posted photos here of my first "melted" or "burnt" one before this was a known issue but the rest have failed in the same way.

If & when I receive my RMAs I’ll let everyone know, but S&B have been very slow to send them.

It’s been ages since I’ve been able to use mine because none of the 4 extra housings I bought will even hold the bowl securely. They’ve all either "burnt" or "melted" around the top & the clips will no longer hold the bowl in.

I kept buying housings because they kept melting but unfortunately S&B will only RMA one at a time which leaves me with several housings I need to replace.

I probably needed to RMA them one at one at a time...as they melted, but I really didn’t expect them to fail so quickly & don’t have time in my life to open an RMA on a vaporizer every two weeks.

I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to keep using a vaporizer with a chamber that keeps melting but I was around when the Pinnacle came out so maybe my expectations are lower. Regardless I still have 10 metres of tubing I bought from them that I can’t use because I’m waiting on 4 replacement housings.

I understand their RMA process but I wanted to keep using my vaporizer & it’s not my fault they royally fucked this thing up.

I even fitted the new parts that they eventually provided, but I had to use them with my old housings which still just kept melting. Personally I don’t think the Hybrid performs as well with the new parts as it seems to take more priming just to get the vapor flowing.

I haven’t received a new housing since Jan so I can’t say if they’ve changed the plastic or improved it, but personally I’m very disappointed with this thing & I’d suggest anyone who uses it on full temperature should do so very fucking carefully.

I wouldn’t recommend the Hybrid to anyone in its current form for safety reasons & would suggest looking elsewhere if you’re after a hard hitting plugin vape.

Fuck Combustion for sure, but maybe not with this vape.

Edit: Sorry about all the fucks.

Wow, you have melted four housings.

Now please, my friend, I'm not pointing a finger at you.

But many (actually, I will go out on a limb and say the vast majority) incl me have never had any melting on even one housing..

and in my case, I run at 446 and def let the oven heat for 90 seconds for conduction prior to hitting the air.

Anybody else still having melted housing issues?

Yes , I have both my plastic housings are deformed & don't hold the bowl in the clips anymore.
I just used to empty the ABV by turning it upside down and shake & brush it in a container.
Now they just drop out and burned me once (not twice lol)
S&B under Canopy are BS & are probably going into Bankruptcy as they were crap anyway and
have not answered my emails or sent me any chambers or reducer bowls.
I still love the Hybrid as I run everything thru water so I don't worry or care about dust (thru water really lol) It is the only reason I still vape weed at all. The diamonds , live resins, rosins
shatter, budders are so awesome and strong and priced so much better than weed. I just use the HV in my own way to do 2 or 3 bags to get the weed terps effect to kick off my day. So nice and pleasant in the 4:20 am lol. The GH & Hybrid are the only weed devices that hit me well
enough after started smoking weed over 60 yrs ago.
So around 10 am I go to the stay in and play PS4 golf & GTS , Movies & Music appreciation mode
The hybrid extracts so well & fast & efficiently the way it is, like no other so easy with whip direct to my D020-D. I would post videos but don't want to hurt companies that sell what I do for free with what I have around already. I don't use their plastic crap (all glass to mouth or bag)
Maybe someday I get back on youtube and post good vids , but they censor everything then steal your money under BS PC selfish mode lol
