Handmade brass stash with integrated lighter for Dynavap "M"

I think there's only two lengths, xl and regular. At least judging from the pics on the site of all the vapcaps lined up it looks that way.

I was curious the other night and measured my older ti woody and its 3.5in like the M, for what it's worth.

FUCK CANCER TOO !
@nemomatic ..... Interesting, no doubt!

On the flask version, can you tell us how the hole in the lid "synchs" up with the stud on top? Does the lid simply push on to the stud and if so does that create stress on the "set" screw that holds the lid? Or does the stud on top have a spring load that allows it to depress and then pop back up into the hole in the lid?

Speaking of the set screw on top, why is it silver rather than a matching brass itself?

Also, I noticed the brass appears to scratch up quite a bit?

Finally, is the compartment strictly for storage of cleaning tools or is it designed to hold herb as well?

TIA

Hi Fat Freddy. The stud is captured in place by the two springs. You pull down on the knurled brass slider to release either end of the Flask. The stud does not put any pressure on the lid, but your DynaVap does. I've been testing these for several months, and I do find that the mouthpiece of the vap will begin to leave a subtle mark in the underside of the lid. This pressure is the reason I went with stainless steel screws. They are more rigid and better suited to keep the parts aligned over time.
The scratches you see are part of a decision to make the pieces more functional. Brass is a soft material that will scratch and tarnish. I didn't want these to be so precious that you are afraid to put it in your pocket. So, I sand and polish them to a point where they look good, but not so perfect that normal use will lessen their quality. I mention in my FAQs that they will also tarnish over time. I personally really like the patina that has begun to form on mine, but a quick rub with Brasso brass polish will bring it back to the condition it started in.
On the subject of the cleaning chamber, yes it can be used to store a different strain of herb etc if you remove the cleaning pick. I also plan to look into making a little holder for a spare cap/bowl but haven't gotten around to it.

Thanks for the reply

I have several of those exact same Aomai lighters (they are my favorite torch to use indoors with my Dynavap vaporizers), and I really like the look of your Flintlock stash. It's a match made in heaven for me. I just have to wait a bit before I can afford to spend that much money.

how many sessions do you have with this lighter? It looks like it doesn't have a very large deposit.

I am absolutely impressed with this, I was planning to buy a dynastash during 420 but this just made me totally change my mind. My only question really is the autonomy of this lighter, depending on whether I am simply buying the version with an integrated lighter or the other cheaper one; I love my 30+ session giant tank torches and I don't know whether to buy the version with two tanks and keep carrying my torches or buy the version with the built-in lighter.

Nemomatic I sincerely believe that you should think about how to mechanize the production process and be able to manufacture many of these, something tells me that this is going to sell very well

Hey, thanks for the kind words! The lighter is definitely small. My intent with the Flintlock above all was portability. The fuel tank is small, and so is the stash compartment (5 caps maybe?). The idea is if you have a “long afternoon out” planned, you can just throw it in your pocket, and you’re good. I personally have a VapHotBox that I really enjoy using at home, and thus don’t rely totally on the little lighter. I realize it’s a luxury to have extra gadgets, I’m just being honest about the use scenarios I considered when designing it. I love the idea of going into production with these, I just need to make back my initial investment first and figure out next steps....you know...unless the world ends first.

Thanks for your sincerity and quick response, I already have it much clearer

if as you say the world does not end, as soon as I can leave the house my money will be yours:D:D

Yeah if you make another batch of flintlock I'm for sure grabbing one. Five cap fulls is more than enough for me for a day out.

I've been trying to rack my brain wondering if there's a more useful function than the cooling hole. Maybe it's just me but I don't think I've ever used the cooling magnet on the dynastash.

The only thing I can think of is - maybe it could double as an extra emergency stash for those who'd want it or also still function as a cooling hole for others..But then there'd have to be a lid added so more time making for you resulting in higher cost for us so maybe not the greatest idea.
Either way I'd get one, just sort of throwing the thought out there. I don't mean anything against the product or your decision to put the cooling hole.

I have no idea how many sessions a tank lasts. I've never counted. But, it doesn't have a very big tank. That's why I have six of them. You can find them online, a five-pack of them for $25...or at least that was the price when I bought them last year.

I'm pleased to say that I sold out of the first small batch of Flintlocks! I'm working hard to get a larger, second batch made. I've been testing the idea of adding a simple belt clip feature onto the "blank" side of the existing design. So far, it seems like an unobtrusive change that only offers extra function to those who want it, without really getting in the way for those who don't. Not everyone wants to clip their bad habits onto their belt and walk around, but its pretty handy for clipping onto the edge of a bag or pocket too. I'm still trying to figure out if there is a way to have the end of the pin function as a cleaning tool without making it stick out too far, though I'm not convinced a cleaning tool is that necessary considering that the cap itself does such a decent job of this.
What do you all think? I'm optimistic that I can get back into production in the next week or two.

Were those suppose to be images of the flintlock with the clip?

I'd be interested to see it, it sounds like a good addition as long as it isn't bulky or unsightly as I like the 'clean' look it already has. Would be nice to clip it to the inside of my pants pocket, I'm liking that idea.

Hit the post's reply button & you can see the pics in the reply box when it's quoted.

@nemomatic, you can see your pics because they are in your cache, but others can't.

Here's the testing thread:

Can't you make some with & some without the clip? Or made to order? Same with the stirrer.

Sorry all, trying to repost images. Not sure why I'm having so much trouble posting these.
I'm optimistic that I can get some parts back from a waterjet cutter this coming week, and get back to making these things. As it was suggested above, I may try to make some with clips, some without. Once I have a few more finished units, I plan to make some tooling for a longer version to accommodate the Omni XL.

Just to throw out a thought, no clue how this would work with your equipment or difference in costs, would aluminum versions be doable?

Jsut ask due to the knowing how brass will patina and the smell from some metals, where i havent' really noticed that with aluminum products i've bought for ecigs in the past.

Aluminum would present too many problems I'm afraid, but stainless steel is an option I'm considering. The only trouble is that the machining operations would have to slow way down, and drive the cost of the units up. I've found the smell of the brass diminishes with time, and I actually like the way the patina forms. Another option that might be fun for a "premium" model would be to gold or nickel plate a few.

Completely understandable, really appreciate the response and should have figured you were considered other materials.

Great job, excited to see the XL version with stash space or something, since i don't use torches.

really have to figure the lighter version has to be perfect for those that like using the torches. very ingenious for an all in one setup.
