Handmade brass stash with integrated lighter for Dynavap "M"

Hi FC. I've been lurking here for a while. You all helped me decide to purchase a Dynavap "M" a little while back. It immediately became my daily driver, and has pretty much replaced all my other gear. My only gripe was that to carry it around required a pocket full of misc. containers and lighters. So after some prototyping I came up with a design I'm pretty proud of. So far, I've only made one batch of 10 (I also did a batch of simpler designs that don't include a lighter). This seemed like the place to share and get feedback, but I don't want to come off as spammy, so just clue me in if I've posted in the wrong place or broken any rules here.
My first pieces are up for sale on Etsy here if anyone is interested:

The "Flintlock" with integrated lighter:

The "Flask" stash with storage and cleaning compartment.
FAQ

-

What are they?

-Both the Flintlock and the Flask are slim, stylish, hand made, and unique methods to store your Dynavap “M” vaporizer. Both are spring loaded and make your Vap pop out like a freakin’ light saber every time you open it.

-

Is the DynaVap “M” vaporizer included?

-Sorry, no. You can get yours at www.dynavap.com

-

What is the difference between the “Flintlock” and the “Flask”?

- The Flintlock incorporates a small torch lighter, a storage compartment, and a recessed magnet for cooling. The Flask has a larger storage compartment, and a second compartment with an integrated pick for cleaning.

-

Isn’t that a lot of money?

-Yes. You really shouldn’t spend this much money on your bad habits. But if you’re reading this you’ll probably get one anyway. Good for you! Live a little! Seriously though, I make each of these by hand. I’m practically giving them away at this price.

-

What’s your deal?

-I’ve been an artist all my life, specializing in mechanical sculpture for the last 20 years. This practice has led me to make many of my own tools when necessary. I consider these products to be “lifestyle tools”.

-

Why did you pick that particular lighter, what if it breaks?

-I chose the Aomai lighter because of its size and shape, as well as the fact that it has a replaceable flint striker (these tend to be more reliable) and a fuel window. I’ve had expensive lighters break as often as cheap ones, so I figured replaceable/affordable was the way to go. I’ve been using the same one now for months with zero problems, and I know if it fails I can get another one for under $10.

-

Do you work with/for Dynavap?

-Nope. I just think they made a truly great device, that ultimately was a little hard to live with on a day to day basis, so I came up with some tools to make it even better.

-

Is the metal coated?

-Nope. It’ll tarnish. After a few months of fiddling with it, it will develop a really nice patina from the oils from your hands. If you prefer the shiny look, a quick rub down with brass polish does the trick.

-

Is each object perfect in every way?

-Er, no. These are each hand made by me (The little brass plates that hold the tubes together are CNC cut) so each one is a little different and will have small imperfections, you know, like precious diamonds.

Thanks man! I've been an artist full time for many years. These Dynavap things are my first try at product design.

Whoa, that's actually *very* cool. The springload action is impressive, seems very well tuned in.

That machine in the video @Abysmal Vapor linked could be a cool IH (bit bulky maybe, though).
I actually made a little desktop heater too, but it was made from parts I can't replicate.

I couldn't figure out how to post photos earlier, so I'm giving it another shot. These are of the "Flintlock":

Here are some pics of the "Flask". This one is a little cheaper because it doesn't have the integrated lighter (simpler to make). The storage chamber is walled off at the center. One half is open, the other has a pick mounted in it for cleaning. Kinda nice if you don't wanna get ash on the couch. Also, instead of the magnet on the "Flintlock", this one can simply be laid on its side and used as a cooling rest.

These are fucking NUTS!
WOW
Love the sound it makes when the vapcap slides out and when it clicks shut.

You don't see craftsmanship like this very often, this has shot up as a most wanted fine piece of handcrafted art now. Really hope I can grab one of these soon.

Here is a better look at how the Aomai lighter integrates into the whole of the "Flintlock" design. I chose the Aomai lighter for several reasons: It has a replaceable flint striker, a fuel window so it won’t suddenly run dry, it’s affordable enough to keep spares around, and small enough to keep the whole package pocket friendly:

Fuck it! I love the look and function of your design. I am buying the Flintlock to provide a home to the 2020 "M". Great looking work! I needed a badass stash/lighter combo for backwoods adventures. Yours fits the bill very well. Thanks for bringing your craft to FC!

Even the Aomi lighter is bad ass and fits the design perfectly. I didn't even know they made flint torch lighters but now I want it...but only in the flintlock...Love how you flip it on then strike the flint. I can't stop watching the video for the flintlock because of the sounds of everything..plus how sick the whole thing is of course.

Yeah, the tactile sensation of using is surprisingly satisfying

Thank YOU! I'm confident you'll dig it. I'll certainly be eager to see how it plays with the new "M".

So jealous,

Can't wait to see it out in the wild

I'm like on the edge of grabbing the flask, that's a very decent price point for that but I figure if (when?) I get one it would certainly have to be the flintlock with that sick ass lighter. Plus I do hate having to carry the dynavap stash and lighter spereate already.

Thanks for the reply

I have several of those exact same Aomai lighters (they are my favorite torch to use indoors with my Dynavap vaporizers), and I really like the look of your Flintlock stash. It's a match made in heaven for me. I just have to wait a bit before I can afford to spend that much money.

Yeah, I’m not gonna argue that these things are expensive. At this stage I’m doing nearly all of the machining and fabrication by hand myself. Each one I make goes a little quicker/smoother, and I hope to get the costs down eventually. But at this point these are definitely luxury items.

Honestly no difference then the futo stashes, wood stashes some with stabilized wood and such. Prices are easy 1 to 200 that i have seen. The one i picked up i think was about 150.

Wow Nemo! This is incredible, absolutely love it!!.. ordered =) I will cherish this unit — thanks for coming up with such a great idea. Really wish I was this handy with tools!!:)
Thanks Kendomeister! let us know what you think when you get it.

couldn t say it much better :rockon:

Really great work. Do they also fit an omnivap or are they just for "M" for a reason i cant see right now?

Have a great day.

and again: love it
Maybe you can help me with that question. I'll admit I was unprepared for all the interest/questions since I only have experience with the M. It seems a lot of people would like an XL size which I plan to accommodate. But I can't say for sure if the Omni is the same proportions as the M. Anybody here have both, that they could compare for us?
