That’s sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

I wish they sold lsv up in Canada!

edit - they sell the SSV locally but I really don’t know much about it. I know the lsv has a glass stem (my favourite) and is a heavy hitter

FWIW, when I modded my LSV I had to fill the glass with beads first and then insert the heating element

It took some jostling around before I could invert it and get the glass mounted properly.
The other SSV glass style may require some special assembly as well
Are the glass beads you used quartz? If not they may fuse to the ceramic heater. I've looked for quartz beads since I saw your video today and I am still looking.

I did find those on google but it was $50 for 200 before "contact us for overseas shipping quote" for me.
I'm hopeful that Elev8 and 420 Vapezone might be able to work out a better or maybe cheaper source of the quartz balls for everyone in the future. Or maybe even a special easy fit heater cover that's got it all eventually.

My SSV is back to my regular wand setup ready for more testing to see if my earlier microdose mods were even worth it.
Because with the smaller bowls I was loading it up a lot and couldn't stop!
The power of my regular wand setup with a nice pinch in there often stops me in my tracks, lookin forward to that.

Hey friends. Saw a green SSV for sale locally and couldn't pass on it. Got it in the mail today, and it's definitely not as clean as I am used to getting from vapor enthusiasts.

It is an OG silver, it came with the hand blown wand and standard heater. Original shim and spacer setup. No mouthpiece. Also, the glass temp knob doesn't turn the heater on or off. There was a piece of tape kind of keeping the glass knob onto the threaded on/off knob. I removed the tape because I didn't know the function, so I need to come up with a better way to attach the glass temp knob.

The glass heater and mouthpiece will easy enough to clean. The whip tube is getting tossed for some new stuff. The exterior of the SSV needs to be wiped down good. Then there is the carry bag. I'm hesitant to throw it in the washer, but it needs to be cleaned. It's kinda nasty.

Maintenance tips, necessary upgrades, any other info that you might think I need, let me know. I'm starting from scratch on this one.

It seems that there is something very contradictory about the two statements above :hmm::sherlock::shrug:

Did ya get a mouthpiece or not?

https://www.elev8glassgallery.com/aluminum-knob/ I am not totally sure (only 85%) it will fit but I suspect it will meet your needs.

Or, one of these.

You are correct my friend, I was deep into an elev8r session yesterday when making my post, so I meant to say heater cover and wand. I did not get a mouthpiece. :science:

When funds become available, I'm thinking of picking up the heater stand upgrade, a mouthpiece (basic), a hands free attachment and a new whip hose.

Do people have a preference on whip hose manufacturers? I was thinking straight from elev8.

What’s an SSV like with the dial turned up to the max? Looking for pain relief.
You better suck fast and hard, temp to the max will combust quickly unless you are an athletic huffer. If so, extraction is rapid and the abv is dark brown

Elev8 hoses are relatively stiff and robust, they also don’t attract hair and dust particles as much as much as some of the clear, limp hoses from other manufacturers I’ve sampled. I also highly recommend their custom mouth pieces. I used to not give two shits about blingling vapes, but damn I’ve been really loving the custom pieces, they feel great to hold and suck on,

I assumed as much, but still felt the need to straighten the confusion.

I've been using mine on max most of the time for some while. After seeing most people liking theirs between 12:00 and 2:00, it makes me wonder if mine needs service.

Excuse the way am replying but struggle like fuck here with adding in bits.

The best hose imo is the one you source from 7th floor, if you're in Europe it is a bit of an issue as postage is silly.

@Ramahs. it also depends on whereabouts your knob clicks in. off is 6, mine clicks on past 6, I use @11 if sipping or 2 if toking. mine is max at 4. Apart from that, maybe your heater has dropped slightly. Have also heard that they run hotter in EU but don't know how accurate this info is ( is off a 7th floor thread here)

Is your heater post up all the way? It will affect settings if it sits low in the heater cover.

The fix is to let it cool remove the heater cover and gently pull it up.

I bought my ssv in a garage sale and had to adjust it. Made a huge difference.

I don't see how where you have the knob set at matters when it's turned up all the way to max because max is max no matter where you have your knob set at. The knob can be pulled off and pushed back on to make the click wherever on the "clock face" you want it to be at, but turned all the way up is still turned all the way up no matter what.

Looks like the heater post is up where it should be to me. Here's a pic I just took:

Hard to say from the angle of the pic but I think it's a little low

Here's their video on heater cover position for reference

I pulled it up. It didn't move much. Maybe an eighth of an inch or less, but it definitely would not raise any further. I doubt it will make much of a difference, but will fire it up again sometime later this week and see if it made and difference.

Your ceramic rod looks fine.
I had a situation with a standard SSV heater cover (2 actually) where the input hole seemed to have been drilled too low and I couldn’t generate enough hot air to get a good rip. I’ve never had that problem with either the ground glass or spherical setups.
I wonder if that might be an issue with yours.

Maybe. We shall see.

I'm not exactly complaining. I like my SSV

But, it would be nice to be able to turn it up just slightly more on occasion.

A lot of ssv users eventually go to a ground glass heater cover wand combo or a spherical combo for increased performance and consistent hits.

I bought four ssv's as gifts several years ago. The only ones still in use have the ground glass combos. (2)

Something you may want to look at.

Elev8 has a video out there that shows you can use a conical and spherical wand with the spherical glass heater cover. Not sure why you would pick the conical wand, unless you picked something that could also be used with the elev8r.

Yeah, I will probably upgrade to the spherical glass heater cover and wand eventually...but I have no desire to put the conical ground glass on my SSV. That's why I don't use my DaBuddha any more and why I bought the SSV in the first place, to get away from the conical ground glass. The shit gets annoyingly stuck if you're not very careful.

I actually downgraded from the spherical glass wand to the conical so that I could take advantage of the smaller DDave mod stem and basketscreen set-up. He includes small beeswax chips to put on connections and avoid getting stuck, I’ve never had an issue. Worked much better for me that way, in terms of vapor production and using way less flower. Now I have some more glass beads en route. The shipper lost half my balls due to a leaky bag, but I must say, the 100 or so glass balls half fill my heater, and I can already sense new wave of vapor goodness on the horizon
