The Nomad From Morwood

Just a dude
@Jill NYC No ma’am, I got his email confirming that he added me but no number for me. Dang it, definitely back of the line for me now. Serves me right for all my mischief... thanks for setting me straight and the tough love about my lack of diligence. I hate to think where I’d be without you. xx

Hopefully this works...

Love seeing all these current units getting close to being finished.
Been doing my initial consultations and idea crunching e mails with Dan on Nomad #133.
Going with one of my favorite species, Koa for the body and a Cocobolo collar with an Abalone button.
Went with a calm under water scene paper to be the yin to the yang of my rough Tsunami scene on #001.
Dan is great to work with. He put alot of thought into some of my sleeve ideas and wood choices, and was willing to take on some of the more challenging sleeve ideas. But in the end, I kept it more simple. If you can call anything Dan does, simple.
Mock up of Nomad #133 :luv:

  • Is this a fucking work of art?!?

Zoom in and look at the way those dragonflies pop!

Friggin' STUNNING, all of them!
Thanks for taking the time to post yer pic's folks, I LOVE seeing all these Nomads, they're brilliant.

My own sleeve has gone back to Morwood HQ for some TLC, as I (and Dan) think the wax may have been applied a little too early in the rush to get it out the door to me.
This resulted in a slightly sticky feel that just wasn't going away no matter how long I gave it to dry out.

Dan has been brilliant about it though, and the sleeve is now on it's way back to him.
In the meantime my Nomad is still perfectly useable, and if I weren't enduring an acute case of dankruptcy :rant::cry: I'd still be happily vaping on it without the sleeve.

It really does work well naked, and doesn't even present much of a burn risk unless you are chain vaping whilst simultaneously being careless enough to grasp the heater area.

Being able to see the gorgeous box-elder in all it's glory is no bad thing either :luv:

Ahhh @SloJimFizz that makes sense when you put it like that. Wish we were batchmates though, tbh.

You in batch three @MAbud ?

Any queen will do @emmdeemo ? Cause I know a few queens that will write you a letter or telegram, whatever. But Nomad #100 does sound sexy af, I love the evenness of it. You’re gonna be chuffed when it arrives!

mine is supposed to ship any day. I don't know if that is batch 3 or not TBH

Fucking Combustion (mostly) Since February 2017
Black & red are a great combo'
And amboyna burl is just gorgeous.

Indeed. I am rather excited!! I got on the list in late January 2018, and my number came up in early october. I paid in mid November and have been getting more excited over time ever since.

Once Dan was getting into batch 3 he began giving us bi-monthly updates with pictures and stories of the various steps and what was going on with the creation process. Those posts really kept my patience at bay, and I looked forward to them every other Sunday night. That extra touch made the whole waiting process so much more tolerable...and even enjoyable. It made the anticipation fun.

It's almost my time, and I am sooooo looking forward to it!

@Ramahs do you mind reminding me which paper you chose? I know we share a similar taste on several things and now you got me wondering if we both like the same pattern.

@Copacetic red & black are one of my all time favourite combinations. Was definitely leaning towards something in that combo... but I’ve got plenty of time to obsess over the details and vacillate endlessly. I’m not in a hurry to get all OCD over it yet because once decided then all that’s left is the waiting. Which is the hardest part.

Thanks to all for posting with your exciting news and please PLEASE take the time and make the effort to post a picture. It’s worth a thousand words, you know. Sucks that the uploading process is rather convoluted here (and definitely limits how often I bother) but even if you never do it again, go on and share one with us please! The more Nomads the better! From a previous batch and still haven’t posted a pic of it here? WTF?! Get on that shit!

This is my paper. It's the Lacquered Yuzen. It's suppost to be the most durable of the papers and it has a tactile raised texture to the image in the paper:

I think it will look great with that golden amboyna burl and the contrast with the african blackwood collar should me very striking. I think I will be happy with my choice.

And yes...A huge thanks to everyone who is posting pics of their Nomads. You are all gentle-men/women/or-whatever-you-identify-as of scholar! You are all awesome! I'm loving all the recent the Nomad-porn!

You'll get your number when your name comes up and Dan is about ready to start the process of figuring out and confirming your order. Your time will come, my friend! And I can almost guarantee it will be worth the wait!

Yeah, I imagine I will explore some naked evenings with mine. I have no plans to ignore that beautiful body.

(you're welcome posts-taken-out-of-context thread)

mine is 083 FWIW

Congrats, fellow Batch 3 friend! We all know that we are most certainly the most amazing batch ever!

Loving all of the batch 3 Nomad's!!

And welp since we're also posting "naked" Nomad's, I figured I might as well post my naked and dismembered(?) Nomad. It's not as far along as others but I think she's a beaut nonetheless.

She's purdy! I'm so glad your nomad is such an exhibitionist!

That's my favourite paper!
Along with my favourite wood species (equal fave's with my own choices natch').
If I end up liking your Nomad even more than I love my own I will NOT be happy :goon:

Coming out of lurk mode to say thanks to everyone who is taking the time to show off their Nomads. They all look fantastic. Excited for all who are in Batch 3! Please keep sharing. Any color regarding the inspiration or thought process behind your design is a bonus. Really interesting to hear this type of info. Thanks again! Happy weekend all.
