I have opened my old Classic to check if there were some kinked hoses, as it is quite slow to fill the bags (3 minutes). But the hoses were perfectly located. Do you think it is just the pump being too old?
Did you check the foam air filter on the bottom?

I have a number of vapes and my Digit has been languishing but I started recently using it again regularly.

My state went med legal in Dec and in a bit of over enthusiasm I bought eighths everywhere of a lot of flower to try and see what I liked in our new market. I should bought grams as I now have some flower that I just wasn't crazy for. Not bad, just not crazy for it.

So, in an effort to consume said "not great" flower I broke out my Cano and have been using it thus: .25 - .3 g in an easy valve, temp to 446, put the bag on after a five count from turning on the fan, and fill one completely milky bag that puts me away (I vape for nighttime pain and sedation so getting put away is kind of my thing).

I will put a second bag but its wispy....but just to make sure, I do it.

Not the most efficient way for flower consumption, but wow does it work and work wonderfully. I get like ten milky hits from that first bag.

I busted mine out from the graveyard today but it takes a long time to fill. Same reason it got put away to begin with. I'm not sure if it needs a new pump or if the solid valve housing is just leaking and that is why it's taking so long to fill. The flavor is really bad, I think from sitting on the heater for so long to fill. I know the solid valve housing is messed up because the mouthpiece leaks when on, because the spring in the solid valve isn't actuating the seal properly.

I guess it's worth a shot to see if a $20 solid valve housing could get it up and running again. I don't have a single screw in mine as they have all rattled out.

I had another solid valve housing at one time and it seems like it still took a long time to fill though. I haven't used my Volcano in so long I honestly can't remember. I think I will see if I can get the old pig up and runnin' again though!

@biohacker - I had good luck using an o-ring down on the black part of the easy valve nozzle. There is even an indent where it fits pretty well. When you push the hydratube down it creates a perfect seal. Then an 18F>14M GonG fitting on top and the easy valve bags slip right on and you have yourself an obsidian!

Good thought about moisture left in the bag being an issue. Though to simply inhibit the mold formation just run the bag through the volcano w/out material, i.e. empty chamber. That forced hot air will completely dry out the internal aspects of the bag rendering it mold free.

This is an added step that certainly helps, but it is not necessary! Simply holding the vents open (by placing the bag on the Herbal Chamber, or on Magma sans water) will air out any moisture that builds up. I'll be posting a video to address the moisturizing skepticism as well, but the fact that moisture accumulates in the first place should make those with common sense rest easy :)

Yes use a easy chamber with pad or reducer with pad turned all the way up.
Milky bags one after another in my experience.

Thanks! Are you using the dosing capsule as a reducer? I've never used one of those but I might have to pick one up. I thought I still had some extract pads laying around but I think I used them all up with other little vaporizer experiments.

I remember trying extracts in the Volcano years back and not being blown away, but the wax wasn't as good back then either. I mostly dab rosin these days so if I can get this thing running proper I'm definitely curious to try a rosin bag.

@biohacker and I have been chatting about easy to use vapes and the bag system has came back to life, and since I already have this relic I'd love to potentially get some more use out of it!

Have you checked the foam air filter on the bottom?

I remember checking the filter before I put it away some years back but now when I look there's actually nothing there... hmm. It seems like last time I checked I noticed that too and had put in an organic cotton ball as a rudimentary filter. Definitely will pick one up.

I'm pretty sure the main source of the problem is due to my solid valve housing melting to the point the stainless steel valve/spring is not closing all the way. I have another solid valve housing, but one of the "clips" snapped off where it clicks into the filling chamber so it suffers a similar fate.

I go Easy Valve all the way. Wouldn't really consider anything else at this point in time.

Do you think your cotton ball may have been sucked up into the unit and is impeding air flow?

Best of luck.

I noticed a lot of people prefer the Easy Valve now, if it ends up just being a valve issue and not an air pump issue, I'm definitely going to consider picking an Easy Valve kit up! I always felt like the Solid Valve had a lot of parts to clean.

I think the air inlet is pretty small to suck up a cotton ball, but with nothing in the reservoir when I checked, it's definitely possible it sucked up some other dirt or crud.

I should just send it in to S&B in Oakland for a full service. I don't have a single screw in the damn thing after rattling out over the years! If I can get it pumping up bags again with a simple housing replacement I think I'd be motivated to finally send her in for a tune up

Maybe before ordering a new EV test the air pump without the valve on top - can u feel it air moving with the hand above it? those membrane pumps indeed can have trouble with dust in the valves, running it unplugged from the hoses and knocking it on the side can help in that case...
For a few housing screws i'd look in a hardware store, also i guess even the US version has metric screws :p, but in the end they only need to fit/hold in place - even drilling to a larger diameter wouldn't hurt...

@Magma_Industries

I’ve been using the obsidian for about a month now, and while I really like the effect it has on the vapor, I stopped using it because I have found it impossible to clean.

I would also like to suggest including extra o-rings, as it invariably falls off when removing the obsidian from the chamber, and bounces somewhere difficult to get to. At this price point, a couple extra should be included I think.

Hi Arthritisbites,

To clean Obsidian you can soak it in ISO, or I like to use Grunge Off. Just an overnight soak in either, followed with a warm water rinse the next morning should get it to sparkling clean :) I'd be happy to provide some extra O-rings for you! Send me a pm and I'll find your order number and get them sent over ASAP. Cheers!

The overnight soak makes sense, I will give it a try. I was trying to clean by shaking ISO and salt... And thank you for the offer of extra O-rings, I’m going to take you up on it.

If you can, submerge your ISO container in hot water, it will greatly increase the cleaning capabilities. Just don't do it over an open flame or anything since you're dealing with flammables.

@arthritisbites I wouldn’t use ISO on plastic anything, depending upon its composition it could be ruined. Unless other Volcano users have confirmed it’s safe for the part, I suggest just soaking in hot soapy water and using a toothbrush. Just my advice, YMMV!
