Underdog Log Vapes

Hey Everyone,

I got a standard core (African?) Padauk back in November, and I love it. The color and tone are awesome and it looks great on my desk. I picked up a dimmer off amazon as it was running a little hot for my tastes (but I'm happy to have it too hot then too cool). I use the 14mm nong and the stainless lite stems the most. I have a 14mm gong that I use with friends and the thick glass direct draw that I rarely use.

My favorite is taking a nong stem all in one hit through a water pipe. :)

I'm super happy with it. It's performance is great. I love how simple it is and especially how efficient it is. It's absurd how little herb I use.

Thanks Underdog and Underdogette!

Has anyone ever taken theirs on a plane? I'm headed to colorado in a few months and it would be great if I could bring it. Obviously I'd clean it really well before hand, but I'm still undecided.
Hey, can you take a photo? I'm gonna buy an UD soon and padauk looks so cool and is the wood I'm gravitating towards.

Also, what water tool adapters do you guys use for your UD's?

Hey All,

Brand new in FC so hello everyone :)

Been vaping for a few month now only using my Flowermate, which is ok. Has served me well as a first time vape I guess. However, it is now time to move on and explore other devices. I have been looking/research a bit about the EVO but I think I might be a bit overkill for me and also its pretty expensive to buy in the UK like most vapes.

So I have now turned my attention towards getting a log vape. From what I understand of log vapes is that they are more efficient I guess you could say but this is mainly because they pack less herb. I mainly vape with a friend or solo. So I am not looking for a vape that is good for groups which an EVO is better for than a log vape. Are there any other benefits onof getting a log vape over say a vape like an EVO?

Also, I can't decide between UD or E-nano. They both are going to kill my budget in terms of shipping costs to UK :( I think I'm leaning more towards the UD but they currently don't have the 15v power supply in stock. Also, not sure on what stems to get, I dont own any water pipes yet but I want to buy one for this rig.

So my questions are:

1) Other than efficiency and solo sessions, what is the benefits of log vapes
2) UD or E-nano
3) UD stems
4) Recommend any water pipes (not too expensive)

Thanks in advance

Hi Ramie21! I didn't realize you were in the UK when we spoke. We actually don't send any power supplies to the UK. Instead we give you a discount off your vape, and give you the specs to help you find your own power supply that has the right plug and everything for over there. It also helps to make the package lighter and cheaper to ship.

Hi UD,

If you could point me in the direction of what power supply people in the UK have been using that would be great. I need to price up everything.

Thanks

1 - Other than what you listed, logs are durable vapes. Outside of stems and cords, it's not likely anything will break. They're size makes them fairly discreet, and used with aromatherapy they're quite inconspicuous. UD's can easily be paired with a battery pack for semi-portable use as well.

2 - They're performance is pretty similar. Either one should meet your needs for solo use. The nano can run hotter than a UD with stock 12v power supply, but you won't likely need that extra heat. A 15v PS will give more than enough heat if you feel it's necessary.

3 - You can't go wrong with the NonG and SS lite. With that combo you have a nearly indestructible vaporizer. They're incredibly efficient as well. Then you could get a thick glass DD stem and GonG or j-hook as you're other picks.

4 - dhgate is the best place to look for cheap glass. Sunshine store is pretty decent. I forget the designations but i believe the D-020 is a very popular choice to pair with

I was in the same exact boat as you a couple months ago started with flowermate and decided there was something to this and went hunting for a better device. I too compared the E-nano and UD and ended up going with UD. Not that there is anything wrong with the E-nano I assume from the forums it works similar. UD logs just look better to me and can be used with a 12v battery pack and use alot of differnt power cables etc. Also you get 4 stems to choose and it 1st youd think its about value but once i got mine I realized its genius. I figure if i only had the 1 stem E-nano comes with (glass DD) there was a good chance my log would have been used alot less. The mixture of stems you can get right off the bat shows how versatile logs are. Be sure to get a J-hook if you get a UD.

I gotta say something about the efficiency hehe. Id say compared to a flowermate session in my experience its a good 30-40% more efficient the way I roll.

Log vapes in general also appear to be pretty bulletproof in design and should last years instead of months. I think of it as a high class cigar lighter instead of a bic like my flowermate. I was just about to pull the trigger on a arizer air when I decided to read up on one more thing when I stumbled across UD and log vapes and have zero regrets.

I'm horrible around water devices so I cant help you there.

BTW the UD customer service is 110% and the community rocks.

Happy hunting!

If your budget is tight, especially in regards to shipping you might check out a HomeGrownLog as an alternative to either an UD or EN since they're local to you. I mean we're more than happy to have your business just wanted to throw another option in there anyways.

Thanks I will check them out but I think I have my heart set on one of your devices. Would be great if you or anyone in UK could suggest a power supply that will work with the UD.

Hi Ramie, fellow chosen of the gods here (uk)

I have and love far too much a Burl UD, any 12v power supply works with standard attachment on the UD, I am on my third but due to no more than cable breaks which any power supply can suffer from so get as robust as you feel you need.

I too started with the idea of a budget but then I bought custom wood from snappo and got some stems made to match the dog and those stems are cool and so on

bottom line? fantastic vape and I love it. best friend has a mighty and a FF2 and they are both cracking but the clouds i get with very little green... for me it is head and shoulders above the rest

Good luck with it

No problem at all, happy to have you on board... just wanted to make sure you had all info available.

I'll look into 15v wall-wart suggestions for you for the UK and get back to you (here). Not sure what you and Underdogettte have going discussion wise but it might be a better alternative to just put a hotter running cartridge in your Dog so that you can just use a more common 12v supply. She can go over that option with you if she already hasn't.

Back to the shop for this Dog, gotta take advantage of the brief break in the rain to try and get some work done.

I like how red the padauk is. It's very pretty. The bubbler is from vaporbrothers. Works great with the 14mm stems. Little pricey for what it was, but back when I got it, dhgate didn't exist like it does now. I'm assuming it's American glass if that matters to you.

(well I thought I was going to post a picture... how do you do that? I can only see where you can pull in a image URL... I can't simply upload a pic? )

My car needs a service & is running a bit rich. That can't be said about my UD as it is tuned just right & has been from day dot.

Can't choose between Goncalo or Hybrid Pear :hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm::hmm:

Are the units give or take the same size and thickness?

Those are two pretty opposite woods.. Goncalo is very hard/dense and HP is soft/light.

The various vapes are all different sizes and shapes. If we're talking about vapes that are on the website then they'll each be shown next to a standard size soda can for comparison. As an alternative to that you can look at a picture of one and try to imagine it's size based on the top bore hole always being 1" diameter (use this hole as a 'scale').

Is there any limits to what you can do design wise with a padauk UD? Is padauk a hard or soft wood?

So I'm about to buy an Underdog vape just going over what I want.

Thinking of

Canary wood, Chico black oak or mulberry. I think Chico black is the one.

Also stems I'm thinking:

Glass direct or Gong short
Nong 18/19mm
Nong 14mm
Stainless lite

What do you think?

I don't have a water pipe yet but I will buy one for this, D020d most likely.

Thanks

Today I brought an UD. It's not my first, but it will be my only.

I originally got a Blackwood Twig back in 2012 that I gave to a friend who needed it more than I did. He still uses it daily. Since then I've owned other vapes (mflb, crafty, mighty) but none compare to the beauty, efficiency and ease of use of an UD.

So after taking a 6 month tolerance break, I decided that it was time to return to the pack.

Here is my figured black walnut dog, it's currently being lovingly polished by @underdog and @underdogette, before being carefully packaged in a velvet lined box (velvet lined box not included).

EN3piyB.jpg

It'll take a while to get here (as Australia is apparently a long way from everywhere) but once it arrives I promise it'll have a lovely home.

Does anyone know what impact the dense wood will have on heat up time and temperature? I recall reading something cooler running temps due to wood density... but I can't remember the details.

@Ramie121 the chico black oak looks good, I very nearly purchased a dog in that wood, but the one I was looking at had sold before I pulled the trigger. Regardless of your wood selection, you won't be disappointed with an UD.

Here are the stems I went with:

2 x Nylon Direct Draw Stem
1 x Stainless Lite Stem
1 x Standard Stainless Stem
3 x Glass Direct Draw Stem
1 x NonG 14mm
1 x J hook

I'm most looking forward to trying out the nylon and stainless steel options as these weren't available when I purchased my last UD and I think they'll be great as far as efficiency goes.

Anyway... now the waiting game begins!

A great assortment of stems  the only thing to think about is what size joint you intend on getting. I don't need two NonG's the same size but I load both & vape them back to back so it is convenient.

It took 7-10 days to get to me in Sydney & 1/2 that time was sitting in customs. It is fairly quick process once shipped. Mine is black walnut & it definitely seems to work better after it has been on a while & "heatsoaked".

You must be one of those fuckin weird Aussies that is not a cone smoker :p. Nothing replicates the feeling of punching a cone like the UD does. That is why I back to back NonG's as it is just like a 2 cone rush .

Enjoy, your new pup as it looks beautiful but will perform even better than it looks.

I'm looking at getting myself and my girlfriend a standard core bubinga! After much deliberation, we thought it looked the coolest! Anyone have this wood type?

I'm so excited for this. I can't wait to try this through an ice-cold water pipe.

Any advice for a total newb to vaping?
