Yeah it was an elbow pack on highest setting that was nasty ,don't know why I set so high think I just pulled the weed out of the elbow put in the cyclone to heat underestimating how quick it heats up

this happened to me last night too...had to replace the bag and soak everything in alcohol...then while doing that i broke my cyclone bowl in half. The thing is it still fits on the heating unit just enough to manually put the elbow directly on top of it without losing much suction. in fact my hit's are thicker than they have ever been. and i have also been turning it down since it's much closer to the heating unit.
while it's kinda ghetto, i kinda prefer how it hits.
has anyone else tried this?
I'm looking to buy an extreme q, but I'm not clear on one thing: how exactly do you take hits from this? I have an mflb. and I know that if you leave it on, vapor starts leaking out. Is this the case with the extreme q? If I load up a bowl and put the whip on and turn it on, do I need to put my thumb over the whip or something?

While you can use the fan along with the whip (even pulling while it pushes), from everything I've read here, few people do. (Probably just us oldie's with little lung power left.)
So if you take a hit with the fan running, you would typically just toggle the fan off after the hit - very easy to do with the remote - and then toggle it back on when ready to hit again. If you wanted, you could just leave the fan running and block the mouthpiece, but that's not a good idea to do for more than ~minute, less so if the fan is on high speed, because that will create back-pressure to the fan and make it work harder. If the fan is not running, then there is absolutely no vapor loss up into the whip because the fine mesh elbow screen is designed to create back-pressure into the bowl (this is what creates the "cyclone" effect to stir the herb), so not only is no vapor being created but even any tiny bit that might leech off the herb from the heat of the bowl will be held back by the elbow. This is why you'll read users here posting how they just set up their session and then leave the temp set for leisurely use thru the evening; there is no loss.Thank you so much for the replies, people. One similar question before I purchase this: If I was so inclined to use the bag, would I need to cover up the hole on the bag while taking hits, or is there some similar mechanism on the bag? I think I heard that the volcano has a similar bag mechanism but the EQ doesn't. Not gonna be using bags much, I don't think, but if I was I'd like to know.

That is a real deficiency with the Q IMO. No real bag solution at all. I used a bag clip, but it's kinda ghetto. I'm sure you could rig something up McGyver style, but I don't think it's worth it. I don't use bags at all anymore. If someone asked me what bag-blower vape I would recommend, I would point that person in the direction of other vaporizers that have better bag valves, but not the EQ.

This is yet another one of those things that is very much in the eyes of the user. Once you've taken a hit from the bag, the pressure equalizes and any vapor escape is quite slow and minimal. For personal reasons I won't bore you with, I sometimes blow a ~6 hit bag and attach it to my bubbler, so there is no escape whatsoever and I can leisurely sip for a while. Others use the glass stir wand into the mouthpiece as a stopper, others use a pencil, others use a small piece of saran wrap, and again, others use nothing. So for some not having a valve is a non-issue, for others it's important. Personally, that wouldn't swing me in one direction or the other in making the decision, as there are IMO other factors a lot more important. But again, just one guy's opinion.
These days to block I just use a small piece of paper rolled into a cone and folded over at the fat end. Works great and wont break the glass like the stirring tool did to me.

Here's an idea: Rather than just a shut off timer for 2 or 4 hours...HOWABOUT a turn on timer (like a coffee machine) Set the time of day you want your EQ to turn on, and have it ready when you go for your first rip of the day!! Huh? Huh???

I guess, but I'd prob never use it. normal heatup time is like 10 minutes, or 2 minutes if you're impatient and use an external heat source on the cyclone bowl. be nice if you have a steady routine though, probably make it better for medical users actually.
Maybe in the past, but the rapid warm up time makes it kind of irrelevant. You can email Arizer about it, but fat chance it will actually be implemented. I sometimes wonder if they will "improve" the EQ, but with the Solo being released and all its growing pains, I doubt it.

Use the glass stirring rod to insert and remove the flat screen.

ok. try flipping the screen over or somethin. bend it if you have to. Mine fits pretty tight, I used the flat end of the glass rod and pressed it flat.
