Lol yeah, said this way of course... haha. But really the one in the Ascent wasn't flexible enough for my liking (3 temperature points IIRC and fixed timing for the progression) I played with the settings but it didn't suit my use case.

Now if the IQ one is fancy with curves and al, why not.

In the vids I have seen so far, it looks like there are three temp setting 'way points' if you will with timing variable between them so in effect you can define the temp slew rate as well as hang it at a temp.

I wonder if more 'way points' than three can be accommodated?

@Davinci_vaporizer i am a bit curious how some of these new smart features work together concurrently?

Like for example, is there a draw sensor, so if youre not drawing it stops heating as much to preserve herb in between hits? Like when passing in a group and someone is talking instead of hitting? Does it ramp up when it detects a draw? How does that work exactly when you have your set temp? How does it use the temps as a guide when it is adjusting automatically? (Does draw sensor work with 10mm mouthpiece as well as the default?)

Similarly, how does the smart path work with that feature, if it is slowly rasing temp over a 5min time frame, but you pause and let it cool, then ramp up for your draw, while it is raising temp in the smart path? Curious how it all works together, though smart paths optional

Finally then the boost feature, like if you set it to 250F for very little cooking, until you push the boost to ramp up to 300something as you said for a nice tasty on demand hit (which sounds awesome btw), is that a button you push? Then how does that work along with the draw sensor and the smart paths? Are all optional?

I guess its got a lot of smart going on, a real high IQ, so would like a little more detail about how all these features work together, especially with only 3 (?) buttons on the device and that cool led display, since the app is only needed for finer customization, correct?

Another review from the vape guide!!

The zirconia marble did exactly what it should have??? The material was completely brown and dry??? Is this guy blind? :suspicious: The herb that was stuck on the marble and top side of the load was clearly green and undercooked! Oh my... :uhh: I wonder if he was paid to do the review or he just got a free IQ?
I am getting tired of this IQ story.
Natural Farmer over and out! I hope you guys buying in this overpriced hype are not disappointed. I already am.

Looks to be a better choice for me than either iteration of the Pax. I don't expect convection performance or effects from a conduction vape. I do expect that this will be a good choice for a session vape for me. Looking forward to the pre-order shipping. I appreciate all the comments for or against, as well as the videos. Without these points of reference, choosing a new vape would be a total crapshoot.

To be honest, I did not think the pearl would heat up, it is more of a well shaped lid than anything.

edit for spelling.....

@natural farmer Definitely understand some of your concerns, however this product fills a niche for me that only the pax 2/3 would, and from what we know already I'm willing to bet this will be much better. Just put in my last second preorder!

I was already shopping around for some spare batteries...
Now I noticed there are protected and unprotected 18650 batteries... Which one to buy for the IQ?
The one I want to order is a Sanyo NCR18650GA unprotected 3500mah (10Amps)....
But want to be sure before ordering...

Just a little independent research almost always will turn up some results, yeah?:brow:

What is the Difference Between "Protected" and "Unprotected" 18650 Batteries

As you know, 18650 Lithium-Ion batteries are very powerful. Because of that, you should be aware of the safe handling of them. Don't look just at the price of the battery. With 18650 batteries, you truly "get what you pay for." If money is tight, it's best to purchase a lesser-priced flashlight rather than cutting corners on an 18650 battery.

Protected 18650 Batteries

Protected Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) batteries have a small electronic circuit integrated into the cell packaging. This circuit protects the battery against common dangers, such as overcharge, over discharge, short circuit/over current, and temperature. Protected batteries are safer to use in your devices. Protected batteries are less like to ignite and cause personal or property damage.

Most protected batteries have these components:

I already did search....
I found that the protected ones are a tad bigger due to the extra 'safety circuit'...
So what I want to know is if the IQ battery is protected or unprotected....
I guess the IQ wil have a safety circuit build in, so they will make use of unprotected cells...

Trying to work out how to spend my $51 credit. Only thing that looks good is the 10m to 14m water adapter and the carry case.

Do you have any plans to release other accessories?

There will be more accessories that will be hitting the website soon that are not currently listed. Accessories to expect soon, external 18650 battery chargers, a DaVinci power bank, grinders and more! Soon be seeing these beauties show up in the next week or so.

It's not just different temps, it's a customizable algorithm that changes temp during a session...pretty damn cool IMO.

Yes! Your on the right track. So Smart Path™ mode are 4 temp settings that gradually ramp up temperature over time during your session. The IQ comes with 4 default settings SP1: 351°-370°F, SP2: 370°-390°F, SP3: 390°-410°F, and SP4: 410°-430°F. You can set your own custom Smart Paths™ using the DaVinci app and save your custom setting to your device.

Are there any reviews of the IQ yet?

There are reviews by Vape Critic and Vape Guide currently available on YouTube. We also have several of other reviewers that got early releases that should be putting up video soon as well.

Can anyone tell me if the discount is tied to preordering, or tied to being a previous DaVinci customer?) Or do both criteria need to be met?) Anyone?

As long as you match either criteria you will qualify for the $51 credit. If you pre-order you will receive it once your vaporizer ships out. If you miss the pre-order and you are a returning DaVinci customer you will still be eligible for the $51 credit for as long as we are offering that promotion.

There is no draw sensor the IQ. I'm not sure what feature you are actually referencing here. If you are asking about the Smart Paths™ and how they work?

To answer your question about Boost mode. Yes you could set your bowl at a low temp like 250F and use the Boost feature to raise your bowl to vaping temperatures. This will give you an on-demand like experience with your vaporizer.

Now I noticed there are protected and unprotected 18650 batteries... Which one to buy for the IQ?

The IQ uses unprotected batteries. The Sanyo battery that you have researched should be perfect!.

Ah okay, I had misremembered about the draw sense, I know Pax2/3 do that and I wasn't sure if IQ was doing that too. So if you set the temp mid to high and let it sit without drawing during a session, it will still vape on its own like most conduction vapes. No problem, nice simpler

So then my question is more about how the boost works along with the smart paths, is it possible to boost when using smart paths (if so how does that work), or only fixed temps? Can you adjust the boost temp with the app? And like is default it raises 50 degrees when you boost or something? Is the boost one of the 3 buttons on the side?

Oh and do those buttons adjust depending what mode you're in? It's amazing how many features there are with so few buttons and such a minimalist screen, well done.

Still awaiting shipment and I ordered mine on 10/5. Anyways HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!! :leaf::leaf::rip::zombie::rip::zombie::leaf::leaf:

Hey guys! We are very excited to announce that the first IQ vaporizers were shipped out today! These IQ’s were packed up & shipped out to the first lucky bunch of users that took advantage of our pre-order. We are shipping the orders in the order in which they were placed so oldest to newest. More and more vaporizers will be shipping everyday please be patient we are doing our best to fulfill all of our pre-orders as soon as we can.

These batteries will work, right?

Those will totally work. Although I'm not very familiar with the brand. We will be selling extra batteries on our website very soon and they are competitive in price to the batteries you will find online. If you did want to order batteries before just to have some on hand I would recommend purchasing one of the following brands; MXJO, Sanyo, LG, Panasonic, or Samsung.

Yes you can Boost during Smart Path™. You would simply press and hold the control button while using the Smart Path™ to activate Boost. When you release you will activate Stand by and resume your Smart Path™. The Boost mode automatically heats your bowl to Max temp of 430°F this is not something that is adjustable as of yet.

Now for the buttons on the side. The bottom 2 buttons are the Up/Down buttons that toggle your temperature or Smart Paths™. The top button is the "Control" button which allows you to cycle between Smart Path™ and Precision temp or press and hold to activate Boost.
