We are close to a 20+% reported failure rate for the new top piece already, safe to say that number will raise with time which isn't good.

@Vitolo - did you see this. I would think these are pretty good representative numbers. Glad its working for your patients, but troubles with the top unit still seem to persist...significantly.

@PuffItUp - what a GREAT response. That is outstanding commitment to your customer base. You are a premiere retailer, for certain :tup::clap:

20%... thats.. disheartening.

It really is. We had about 20% reported within the first few weeks of receiving the v2 top piece. Mine cracked too actually. Vivant is good people, I'm sure this problem will get fixed eventually. Until then let us know if you need a top piece. I'm trying to get my hands on a large amount of the tops so we don't keep people waiting for replacements.

Also no worries on the returns. That's our job :)

wow 20%... thats.. disheartening.

i commend you puffitup, but we all know what is going to happen here, you send me another cap, it fails and i keep using your time and resources to fix someone elses mistake. i also commend you on taking back used units for a refund. while i'd love my money back, i dont feel its fair to you as a company for me to do that. but huge kudos to you sir, for stepping up like that. its not all that common in the world we live in today.

Hear! Hear!

I agree wholeheartedly with @xlr8shun

@PuffItUp has been amazingly generous in his dealings with FC members, I believe. I know he certainly has treated me with the kind of customer service and extremely competitive pricing that has generally been unheard of since....I dunno...1955? :myday: He cares about his customers and it shows!

Now, on the other hand, I'd be more than happy to allow @Vivant to send me a refund for the unit I purchased from them! :ugh:

Hey @xlr8shun, apologies for missing your previous question. The issues being reported appear to be confined to a particular mold, so we expect the new larger batch (some of which is being sent out to @PuffItUp by Monday) to have far fewer if not zero instances of the cracking that we’ve looked into. In the meantime, we will continue to warranty any device or parts purchased from us.

I will give it some time (to let the bad batches phase their way out) and contact puffitup for another mouthpiece.

Whoa. I just noticed that puffitup has this unit off the front page and listed as not in stock.

I imagine this is temporary, but still probably a good move for them considering failure rates they're having to deal with.

Well, it looks like MP V3 is coming our way soon so with any luck the third time is a charm.

Okay so after airing out for 2 or 3 days - the alternate stopped tasting like a robots arse. Plastic taste all but gone.

So i gave it a spin. I dont like it. It gets you medicated but the vapor is scratchy and harsh. The taste is very "meh".

Maybe i have been spoilt with other vapes. Maybe i was expecting too much from something so cheap. Either way this is one for flea bay.

I can agree it's not the best vapor flavor on the market, but it's a decent vapor flavor, especially under 365 F.

This portable vape is great for quality extraction at a very affordable price, with some nice digital features. I just blew a few big clouds out from a small bowl (.1 g) at 365 F. The vapor is cool and smooth for me even at temps up to 400. It is mostly convection heating for me. Slow hits will produce no vapor, but strong pulls with a lot of air flow will produce thick clouds.

I continue to enjoy using this little vape more and more. I'm not sure I can find a better portable vape without glass under 200. The only other vape that interests me for quality/price is the Grasshopper, but they have too many reliability issues. I got the Alternate for the 420 sale so quality/price is impossible to beat IMO. It does everything I need a vaporizer to do, very well.

And guess whose battery is working perfectly again. Yep, it's holding charge for days without use and holding charge during use. But I don't doubt it will have some off cycles again in the future. I'm gonna grab a couple replacement batteries.

my way with water

Is that how much you usually pack in the Alternate's bowl? Thats about twice or more when I've been using (i get a 4 minute session from it). Looks great through water though.

I'm glad mine started working again normally after a night with the battery removed. I picked up a set of LG HG2's from a local vape shop and they're working well. Longer lasting than stock also at 3000mAh.

Hey guys, I would ask for some advice.

I'm not using my Alternate at all lately, the new CU works poorly and I just find myself lighting up my Dynavap M all the time, being it at home or outside. I just don't get good vapor with my Alternate, I tried it with the green switch and the metal screw in different positions, nothing seems to help.

My question is: do you think I should return it, or would the Crafty mod represent a solution to my problems?

I would like to have my money back and invest it in something different (the Tubo Evic looks amazing and will fill my battery portable needs), also because I've never really liked the look and feel of the Alternate. But I'm in Europe, and I don't want to be an excessive burden to Randy and the guys over at PuffItUp, they've treated me incredibly well and already sent me the cap replacement...perhaps @Vivant would like to chime in? I don't think it's fair that PIU has to eat up the cost of faulty units.

Any advice would be appreciated!
Tia :)

As another FC member who is outside the USA I feel the same way about Randy @PuffItUp losing money on me.

I hope to find a Crafty CU tomorrow after I go to my dispensary.

My guess is you don't have the air spout at the correct angle. The top cap is a little tricky your first few times until you find the sweet spot. Basically, when you find the optimal angle (sweet spot) for the air spout, you'll hear and feel the air flowing through the top cap. The top cap will vibrate to some degree. Also, the top cap above the oven will warm noticeably as you take a hit.

Once you find the correct angle, be sure to take a long, strong hit. That should give you noticeable vapor and confirm you found the sweet spot. Once you've found the sweet spot, it will become 2nd nature to find it again each use, and you can choose lower temps or slower/shorter draws as preferred.

Hello FC members,

I know it's been a long ride with us so far for some of you here, but just know we are still here to take care of any issues you guys may be experiencing.

I wanted to announce our new firmware update V1.03, which allows you to change the temperature of the Alternate mid-session! You can simply press the + and - buttons at any time during your session, and the Alternate will immediately begin to heat or cool to the new temperature. It will reset the session timer once it reaches the new setting.

This update can be found on our website. Please note that V1.03 includes the previous update, so if you do not already have V1.02, you do not need to download both.

Thank you all for your interest and feedback! We always stay up-to-date with this forum and listen to all you have to say. Please PM us or email info@vivant.com if you have any questions.

Thank you,
Gwen
