Any foreign substance, i.e. not air, has a chance of irritating your respiratory system. The chance increases when you're sick.
Low temp, water-cooled vapor is very gentle and personally I'd give it a shot. But as always with these types of questions, everybody is different, and if you're concerned you should consult a doctor.
