Vape I can put in checked luggage?

Hey everyone, I just recently completed a trip where I had to resort to combusting (GASP) in a glass pipe cuz I couldn't figure out how to transport a vape without raising suspicions. I'm a Stage IV cancer patient using medical MJ and live in a legal state. While I realize that it's federally illegal, I can't eat without it and nutrition is kind of important, so I have to medicate every day.

I have some cheap glass pipes that I just toss before returning home, that way I'm traveling with a brand new, clean pipe and no return pipe. However, I can usually take 1-2 hits off my PD or Extreme and be jussssssst fine. But not so combusting ... I took two good-sized hits with that pipe and hardly felt a thing.

Does anyone know of a vape that would be easily cleaned and decently stealth in a suitcase? I thought about an LB, but my brother says (he's got one) that while it's small and easily cleaned, he thinks it would make them ask questions since there are wires coming out of it.

Suggestions?

Hi Melizzard...very sorry to hear you're dealing with cancer!!

I would NOT recommend the LB for travel, love it otherwise but it cannot be cleaned completely enough in my opinion to travel.

I know Macbill mentioned taking a VG (Genie) along on travels. He would clean it and put some tobacco through it and put it in a bag of tobacco. He had good results that way and they are pretty cheap.

I'm sure some other folks will be along soon with some other good suggestions. Wishing you best of luck!

IMO the ultimate travel vape would be the glass vaporgenie.

Soak the entire thing in 99%+ ISO and you're good to go, completely spotless.

Would recommend the iolite. Runs off butane. You have to empty it before flying however though. I find mine is as easy to clean as you want it to be. Im sort of a clean freak and clean my vape every few days. I use dr greens cleaner. My vape is completely spotless. However regardless to what you choose is right for you, give it a good cleaning... and if possible try to run some flavored molasses thru it. It will gunk everything up, but in a good way for your travels. Also helps to keep some tobacco with your vape, like mentioned before me. Makes customs/security checks a bit faster.

Although i do not advocate this, but my brother and I have both flown with herbs in our undies. lol

He is a recoving cancer patient as well. (testicular) I know how challenging it can be to get the meds you need, when you need em.

I don't think you could clean an Iolite enough to be 100% stress free through an airport.

You need something you can soak for hours or even days in 99%+ ISO so that it will come out cleaner then when you got it... you don't fuck with airport security, even the lowest level employees can and will swab for miniscule traces of drugs, they have some pretty narly technology.

That's my opinion anyway, if you're carrying paraphernalia, make sure it's SPOTLESS chemically, to the human eye isn't good enough.

I would hesitate to pack my Iolites...unless it was a brand new one. I clean mine very well but you can't clean as well as a glass piece like the glass Genie. Damn, there was another thread about this...I'll search and try to post the link. I really do think a glass VG with a bag of tobacco would be the safest route.

Take your PD! It is an "aromatherapy device". Send a couple of brand new stems to your hotel or where you will be staying and your good to go. Don't forget some nice potpourri for your PD.

Well, I have a PD that I could take but I had two reservations about that: 1) getting my beloved PD confiscated .... I can't LIVE without it! LOL And 2) I know I've dropped some plant material down into the heat source before, so is there residue down there that they could bust me for?

Of course, it also is taking 3-4 months now to get an extra PD, so if the PD is the consensus, I'll have to order a Woodeez or Myrtlezap so I can get my hands on it before my next trip.

Iolite would be best for traveling, but you have to find some quality butane once your reach you destination, sometimes that can be hard to find. I know alot of people fly around with their iolite.

You might consider taking a new Magic Flight Launch Box and not taking it on the return flight -- consider it disposable. This is a relatively expensive and wasteful option. However, it may not be, considering the costs of airfare and travel. Maybe you could leave it with someone wherever you are flying off to.

I just read another thread on here somewhere of someone that JUST claimed they went through airport security with their IOlite in their carry on. They emptied it of butane, cleaned it well, and were ready to explain that it was for e-cigarettes. Apparently they didn't even need to.

Lo - it'll clean up just fine. Turn it on, warm it up, unscrew the straw, drop the top "bowl" into a shotglass and fill with ethanol. Let the crug dissolve for a few minutes, then use the brass pusher to push out the 7-dot screen and c-clip. Give them some attention, and swab out the bowl with a q-tip. For the bottom half of the unit, turn it off, and try swabbing as much of the brown as you can with a q-tip dipped in ethanol. This didn't work so well for me, so I took a little wad of steel wool (Coarse) and wizzled it around with an eyeglass screwdriver in the bottom half. A minute later it looked as shiny as new.

As it has been said, you'll need to find butane once you get to where you're going, since you can't travel with a can of butane.

That's a really dangerous idea you have there.

Big difference between "little" and "no" metal.
I would be surprised if a metal detector would miss it.

BTW, there is also no such thing as "a little bit pregnant."

Rather than putting myself through any sort of paranoia and added stress at the airport, I for one would just send my LB in the mail to where i'll be staying and ship it back before i head home. It would be nice to use it on the plane tho! lol

but a glass vaporgenie w/ tobacco in your bag does sound like the next best option. I think, if i traveled a lot, i would go for both so that I have the vaporgenie to use if my LB gets delayed or something.

I'd recommend buying a brand new classic vapor genie and opt out to leave it where ever you go. It is the cheapest option (compaired to taking a launchbox and leaving it). Only reason I say leave it, is you don't want to give airport security anything that might be questionable.
Never know if they might confiscate anything either, so the cheaper the better.
Might want to vape a bowl or two of tobacco, or get someone to for you, so it has a slight used smell and look. Then clean it with some Iso when you get to where you going to get the tobacco residue out.

honestly, if your a stage IV cancer patient and a legal user in your state with documentation I honestly think that youll be cut some slack if anything were to happen. I work at a police station, they are not heartless individuals.

You are right, the police themselves are not heartless - but the laws in some states are and with heightened security overall in airports (that's federal,) it is best to take NO chances.

Not having to answer any questions at all beats the shit out of defending yourself in court later.

These two airports permit carrying up to 8 ounces if you have a valid MMJ card. (never tested it with more than 1/4oz tho :/) Flying back is a different matter, I'd drop it in the checked luggage.

police choose enforce the laws or not. they still have the human brain and emotion to use their enforcement at their discretion. i do not see them having an issue with it.

Just my personal opinion from my experience with law enforcement.

As for the glass VG, it's an excellent idea, except there's about 1 in a million tobacco users who use a glass pipe, vaporizer or not. It's still going to look fishy as salmon on their scans. And if the topper is anything like the on my VG classic or lousy VG bat, then it probably gets minute amounts of material caught up in it/around it. So... Maybe not the best?

I guess you could bust out a 100 watt lightbulb, clean it up, fabricate a mouthpiece and make due like that. If you're not above them, simple glass conduction vaporizers can be effective.

I took my LB through Canadian airport security without a hitch. I didn't bother trying to clean it beyond brushing it out thoroughly. I put everything except the brush and the LB in my little velvet bag. I tucked the brush into my digital camera case so it looked like it was for lens cleaning. Then I put everything except the LB into one pocket of my laptop bag, the LB in another pocket. There was no herb with the laptop.

There was no problem at all. I actually didn't feel worried for the simple reason that airport security isn't looking for drug paraphernalia, they're looking for guns and bombs. Even if they asked about it, I was prepared to tell them it was just a little conversation-starter gadget I'd picked up, with no useful function. After a few months, mine still doesn't have any identifiable odor except when it's been recently used so without testing there's no reason to confiscate or report anything to police. As long as you can't use it to hijack or blow up a plane, they really aren't supposed to care.

I'd do it again without fear on a domestic flight. I would NOT try this across a border. Customs people DO care about drugs.
