Ok, so I know underdog kind of took over where Aromazap left off. I have two questions; first is my stems are about 8 years old and are def in need of replacement. Would any of the UD stems works on my log? Also as it's gotten up in years my zap seems to have a bit of trouble getting to the temp I like. Would one of the adjustable power supplies be ok for my zap or would it be to much for the old boy?
I plan on upgrading to a new UD during the birthday sale I love the old zap but you can't beat the heat up time on the UD compared to this dinosaur lol

I bought a zap from the classified section that had been updated by Dave with an underdog core...

I thought I remember looking into it and the replacement being almost as much as a new base model UD? I could be completely wrong cause this was a long time ago.

I'm not sure what he charges to do the work. It was a couple years ago but I paid what I thought a fair price for the Zap and it's was certainly cheaper then a new underdog.

Hi @sharkvszombie299 - If your Zap is an older vintage, then our stainless tipped stems would not fit, but our glass stems would. The glass stems require more heat though, due to the larger bowl size. If your Zap is getting cooler, it sounds like it's starting to fail. In the short term, you could compensate by running your vape at a higher voltage, but that won't work for long as it sounds like the resistor is failing.

If you want to run at a higher voltage, the easiest solution would be to find a 15v power supply and then use a dimmer, such as our Travel Size VVPS, or a 12-24v LED Dimmer, easily found on Amazon. The adjustable power supply doesn't output more than 12v, so it wouldn't give you more heat.

As far as repairs, a rebuild with a new body and refurbishing/updating the core is currently $149, or a repair of just redoing the insides (if the body isn't charred out), is $60.

The only thing with that is we won't be available to do repairs until winter/early next year. So don't toss that old Zap. We can definitely do something with it when the time comes.

    :)

It also makes a cozy hand warmer.

I love the way the under butter smells for some reason :)

It would be technically workable but would be a very poor choice for an UD in my opinion. That's because in those types of pieces the UD has to go underneath it which puts the stems upside down and able to drop herb into the vape, there is also the chance of water spillage down into the vape though that's not too much of a concern in reasonable amounts.

Ideally you want a glass piece that the UD sits, upside down, on top of.. like a regular style bong or bubbler. That keeps the stems in an orientation that doesn't allow for spillage or herbs or water. It's also, for most users, much easier to work with that kind of setup from an ergonomic standpoint.

This is a really popular bubbler for UDs and Log Vapes in general and the seller (sunshinestore) is generally well regarded. This one or at least this style is probably your best bet.. that said the one you linked to should work they're just a pain to deal with (I've tried). https://www.dhgate.com/product/d020-d-9-inches-bubbler-glass-bong-water/244202146.html

If you want a second opinion(s) I'm sure a ton of people in the thread here could chime in with their own suggestions/comments.

Matrix perc with a log is a nice pairing. I'm also partial to tree percs with logs. That piece linked above is a great. Stevenlmz79's sidecar (FC-188 14mm joint) is also nice.

Edit: Depends on what kind of experience you are looking for also. Both those examples have decent size cans and will give a more "fill and clear" classic bong experience. If you want more of just a long steady draw (similar to the piece asked about) then look for pieces with small internal volume. Either way though, logs are great on regular glass pieces.

So I'm loving vaping wax with my underdog. I just pack a little bit less bud than normal to leave room for a bit of wax on top. You only need a tiny bit of wax and a tiny bit of herb. The wax gives you much bigger clouds and you get an extra hit or two also.

A while ago, I had wanted to get a flowerpot vape just because you can get massive hits by packing lots of bud and vaping it all in one huge hit. While it was never going to replace my underdog as my daily driver, there were times that I felt like the underdog wasn't giving me those massive hits. But now that I have wax... if I want a huge hit, I just use a little extra wax and I can get a huge hit with my underdog. It's a lot nicer vaping a bit of wax + bud when you want that extra big hit compared to just vaping a bunch of bud.

I tried some afgan hash in the underdog and it worked pretty well also. I much prefer the wax, but the hash was still not bad.

Has anyone tried shatter in their underdog? I'm thinking it wouldn't work as well as wax.

I also want to try live resin, rosin, crumble, and budder. Anyone try any of these in their underdog? Any good?

There's this other stuff I can order called Diamond Caviar which is 60% Diamonds and 40% Terpenes and looks basically like a wax.

I have done the wax on top of bud in my UD a few times, works very well as you mention. The clouds look like combustion in my water pipe, but its all sweet tasting vapor. It's an awesome way to use the UD IME. I wish I had access to good concentrates again.

I would imagine you could use all of those you mention. Some will work better than others.

Crumble and sugar are good consistencies for the UD, and of course, bubble hash, But as you get into the stickier consistencies it gets more difficult to load. IMO, diamonds should be dropped in a hot banger.

    Enjoy!!!

    Hey guys,
anyone had an issue with the power supply blinking?
When I connect it and turn it on the led light turns on as in here:

But when I connect the power supply to the underdog itself then the led blinks:
    https://giant.gfycat.com/PhonyBossyCreature.webm

    The log is not heating

    Anyone had this issue?
    Thanks in advance

Don't know this specific model, but usually a blinking LED on a PS means short-out protection kicked in. Does the loggie heat up?
