Discontinued The Sublimator

goin to some place where I've never been before
i decided to upgrade because my og apollo was dying, it was maxing at around 34-36 iirc. the og apollo was the best. im talking about the one with no sublimator logo etched into the apollo. i've had the very first original one, and the second gen, which had SUBLIMATOR etched into the apollo. both before the switch to xlr, and both of which died on me... that original one with no logo worked the best, quickest heat up, big holes easy to dab with... i should of kept that original one and fiddled with it myself.

i'm already painfully like 800 usd into the sub now... if i could do the upgrade over i would get the ss apollo again.. maybe i'll try emailing sublimator and see if i can get some trade value for the ti dabmaster towards an ss apollo.

Beside the ti heating up slower than ss, there is less than 1/3 the volts utilized in the 2.0 models compared to the og subs. It's also ac vs. dc current; I have no idea how this actually affects heating time

@blindowl I bought what's og sub. He was one of the first 3 fc members to have a sub in their hands. I had the wattage drop, fiddled with the dimmer, eventually it dropped again, then I cut it out and plugged it in to a new dimmer. It took a while of leaving it on 24/7 it pulls 45 watts again. I feel like with the og sub if I can find the ceramic rods somewhere I can replace them when this one eventually fails. I'm in agreement that the shipping with sub is ridiculous. Price for what you get also stings but it is the biggest hitter out there. But I can't stand the thought of having to pay to ship my sub to Canada and back to have it worked on. The ogs are so simple you shouldn't have to ship them off for service. For whatever reason the 2.0s have put me off since its debut. I like the look of the og, no need for $265 control box, and the larger dab holes. Mine goes from cold to temp in 10 mins. I heat at 37W for 7 mins or so then drop to 29-32 watts and it's good to hit by the 10 min mark. With pretty dark abv. Think this product has gone in the wrong direction..

it already shipped :(

Feeling blue because your Sub has shipped? Wow, that's a new one on me.

Chin up - you're joining a rather exclusive club

Ti Apollo XLR. Daily use since March 2014. Heats up ready to hit in 10-20 minutes. Call it 15.

SS gets hotter, quicker? From my experience I wouldn't know but I love the crazy colouring on my heavily seasoned Ti Apollo.

Time is just something I get a little anxious about because my days are cut short 6-10 hours because of health problems, so my days are basically 4 hours long.

Not feeling blue about it being shipped, don't worry. I'll actually have to admit, I ignorantly check my tracking every hour to see how much closer I am to joining The Subculture family.

hmm so ti apollo heats up quick still like the older ss ones, must be to do with the different design or maybe smaller heater in the dabmaster. @VegNVape do you turn it up to a higher number for heat up? even if i crank it to 9-10 it takes a good 30 mins before thermal equilibrium is achieved.

Hey @blindowl :)
Not unless I'm in a real hurry in which case for flower I may crank it up to 7 or 8 & then dial it back to 4 or 5 when I'm ready to hit. But usually I just set it at where I want to be & leave it at that.

you hit it at 4-5 wtf, i'd get nothing from my sub if i hit it at those levels, which one are you using, apollo or dabmaster.

Hi @MGG :)

That's interesting.

I'm using an Apollo.

I don't have a kill-a-watt which would be more useful here and my overall household useage meter has proved difficult to read due to it fluctuating quite a lot because of other household devices drawing power. However, I just had a moment when no one else was in the house so I turned off every electrical device I could find, sat in the dark with my Maglite & powered up the Sub :ninja:

My findings, according to my energy meter are that I'm drawing around 35-36 watts on setting 4 & 37-38 watts on 5.

I guess you don't have any way of reading what your Sub is drawing?

It is surprising to hear that you are getting little to no results on setting 5 - where abouts do you set the dial?

PEACE! :)

I have to set it on 8 for the dabmaster and i'm starting to think my unit is defective. [even 8 sometimes has troubles whitewalling]

I set my Ti dabmaster to 10 to heat up for 10-15 mins, then back down to 8 and leave it there.

It's been roasting my bud pretty well at 8. I wouldn't want to go any higher.

I should probably try a bit of a lower temp at some point, but I do like the fat clouds high temps delivers.

Given the usage style of the sub (Load, Hit, Dump - not much sipping going on here ;)), it seems to me that you can't really walk up the temp dial like with most vapes, so just starting off hot seems to be the way to go...

@MGG, we're gonna have to meet up again soon:), at the very least you'd be able to compare subs side-by-side and see if you can notice any major differences...

My sublimator just got set up... I didn't even take a milky hit at all, and I am baked. The flavor on this thing is really ridiculous. I am beyond happy with my purchase. My body feels like it got turned into pure sound waves. I am vibrating af right now and have no pain, or much ocd at all.

Happy purchaser right here

I wanna talk to Samsin!
Hopefully placing my order in the morning!

If I get the choke tier does that mean I wont need to lift the atomizer except to empty it?

How long did you give it to heatup, i think it needs at very very least 30mins imo, every hit you get out of the sub should be pure white milk imo XD that's what i've been getting today, might upload a new video soon.

nice vid @Detonator I've found I keep my sub floating between 35 and 37 watts *it has natural fluctuation* and can hit both herb and oil with out having to change the temp, but I am glad you found a method that works for you, and good to see when my dimmer switch decides to die, it will be an easy fix. Going on a year and a half of steady 24/7 use and still loving it! :D

here's a vid I made a while back showing off the bubbler to the cheap glass thread, but you can see the sub in action too :)

and here's an oil rip :D

D-nail, to sublimator, to sublimator, to cloud, yes this is a thing, yes it functions well, yes its completely excessive and unnecessary.

well fuck

I have melted plastic on the heating element and downstem.. how do I remove this?
I'd think mechanical scraping would be the only way to get that plastic bit off if it's melted (I think it's Teflon?)

How'd ya manage to melt it @Danvapereviews?

I didn't think that'd be possible under normal usage conditions...

At least a replacement shouldn't be too much, I think planetvape sells em for like $10-15...

Edit: re read it, is it just some random other plastic that got on the sub?
Then yeah - my first shot would be scrape off what you can then ISO...

Surprising how well that setup worked

'Twas a crazy sesh,
Stereo matrix being used as a dab stand, cloud being used as a carb...
Good times
