Discontinued The Sublimator

smokum

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
I'd love to swap for a nail.

Not me ! I'd just want longevity of the item I have to use (erb * dabs) as advertised.

It's rare for me to put herbs in the chamber. I've been dabbing ever since I got this baby lol

I love my flower's full spectrum flavors & don't want to 'only' dab personally, besides... 'I' still find my flower hits with the sub to be dablike in effect and love it.

Right now I'm digging the Apollo because it has more grip. I need to get a needle point dabber for it though.

That was my point. If they are not going to address the heater issue on the apollo, I'd rather have the nail. Give me something that does oil and flowers without getting bogged down.

IMO the nail burns the weed faster than dab itself. That's why I prefer doubles on the Apollo.

Burns when you are at dabbing temps? Or anytime you try herb on it's own? I know even with my Apollo, I have to balance the temperature when I am doing a double decker.

Gets cold and doesn't dab efficiently if lowered

tommii, he is trying to ask specific questions, get exact comparisons, as are all.

your one sentence responses aren't giving a good picture.

that makes sense. if you turn it down it gets cold, you haven't said anything else.
does that mean if you turn it down so that it won't burn herb it is then too cold to do small dabs as well? or that if it is hot enough to do dabs that you will combust?

I am running my ti at max. If I were to turn the knob down, it will not be hot enough to smoke dabs fast.

Look at what I found while unboxing my tube

@Tommii
So, sounds like its too hard to get a happy medium temp wise with the e nail to do double deckers? Definitely a shame.

I wonder if this is one of the prototypes

That's exactly how I run mine, but with a small hand held bubbler attached to the short tube.

As to this whole nail vs apollo debate...I just need to hear from Enrico or someone representing the company, what their thoughts are on the issue. I don't want to dump more money into shipping this thing back and forth, just to have it fail again.

I did some A/B testing and the Nail can't hold a candle to the Apollo for flowers. Most of the vapour coming out was seemed to be from conduction and I don't think the air from the Nail got hot enough properly heat the flowers. With the Apollo, the airflow is more constricted and passes directly over the heater and then circulates in the chamber before finally being sucked through the atty. On the Nail, it looks like the heater is in the center of the mass and then there's 6 relatively wide holes drilled straight through so the incoming air only has contact with the titanium and not the heater itself. I think they're wide enough that it doesn't allow for the air to get hot enough to really vaporize the herb well or consistently.

Yesterday's wake and bake something happened. I actually combusted my herbs.

Now before everyone starts saying stuff like it isn't I inhaled this pleasant plume of smoke and the taste was burnt like hitting the old school spoonies. I had exhale smooth smoke though but fast (I'm not gonna hold this in no way.) After that I realized that due to experimenting with max temperature, it is surely not needed to turn the Apollo all the way up. It will only be necessary for oils so that the excess that you do not finish can just burn off.

Box just sparked when I went to press 30 on my Apollo.

Was stuck before tight. Got it loose and turned it on to get a spark.

Must of broke because I unscrewed the Apollo and tried to hit the piece out.

Does that mean your replacement just broke?

My nail has actually changed colour and is now pale blue. Kinda cool. Anyone know what it should settle on? I'm also finding scrapping the nail with the dabber at max temp seems to be working best to get it vaporized as quickly as possible and to get thick hits. Right now I have both the Nail and the Apollo on and just switch between them effortlessly using the same atty. I'll likely only do Sub oil hits on rare occasions now (double-deckers or impromptu oil seshs). I think it might help keep the heater in better shape unless it can actually burn off all the oil residue in there.

I also got an oil slick pad to dab the stem on and then scrape the oil with my Flexy tool. I got the idea after seeing one of Jam's posts I believe. It works great and lets me collect and use the sublimate even before it would have dropped down. Since I use water and don't have a collector, this actually lets me use it effectively for once.
