I have brand new AW 16350's running my herc on a hammer top. One of the batteries is discharging quicker than the other. When I put them in the charger one was at 3.7 and the other one was 2.7. What would cause this?

On the kiss ac with a brand new dual coil I'm finding that if I feather my button consistently I don't get any splatter really. Riding the button for me seems to be what causes it. It's especially important after you've loaded it so it melts in before getting vaped. Though at some point your coils start getting covered with the black stuff and you'll have to start riding it a little to get vapor. I'm trying to switch coils at that point and I'm hoping that will keep them in better shape for longer.

OV should add a paypal option

Think you meant to post this over on the OV thread instead.

My guess is that the issue isn't OV wanting to add Paypal so much as Paypal not wanting to accept payments for such products. Using Paypal to collect payments for 'file sharing services or access to newsgroups; or selling alcoholic beverages, non-cigarette tobacco products, e-cigarettes or prescription drugs/devices' requires special pre-approval from Paypal.

Utopia update:

we finally finished the first round testing in the heaters in open air.

Flexo is now being integrated into Utopia

Here is the first run temperatures of the heater.

At 1 minute 300°C
At 2 minutes 450°C
At 3 minutes 460°C
At 4 minutes 460°C

These tests where conducted with the heater in open air and no insulation what so ever.

I remember someone commenting on the 8 being $90 at ov. If you use the code FCFORUMS you'll get 10% off. An $80 8.

...well technically an $80.99 8.
What..... I just placed an order for a 8 and a few other things. :(
Wish I would of checked the forum first.

i just tried out the herc 74x (black rod) on my new evic vtc. Holy Shit! it's practically a whole new herc now! i have it at just 250°f 25w on ti mode and wow. clouds in an *instant*, and it never gets too hot. is this too good to be true? am i abusing my heater rod? this is ridiculous!

How long are you able to run it like this before it says "No Atomizer" because I myself have the White eVic VTC mini and when I tried to run the Herc on that it worked beautifully but when it got to hot (I'm guessing the resistance/ohms got to high even though I had locked it in) It gave me the no atomizer error and I have to wait for it to fully cool down.

But on my IPV D2 I can run it all day, I'm not to sure about TC mode as YiHi chips are picking with ceramic and TC i've read online but the D2 works beautifully in power mode.

Sorry dude, I missed it my first order too. Cancel quick or email them? Not sure too many places apply promo codes after the fact, but they might. Maybe @SamuraiSam could help you in the ov thread. I'm jealous your getting an 8, I can't justify buying it to myself since I own 3.5 perseis already.

i used mine quite a bit last night over the course of about an hour, and even when i hit it back to back it didn't seem to get "hot". i mean the heat shield was warm, but just a fraction of how warm it gets with voltage use, and my mod never gave me any problems (knock on wood).

Just to clarify are you using the eVic VT or the new VTC Mini?

vtc mini.

So you are running a single 18650 but with a 7.4v white rod in the Herc? I was under the impression this would stress the battery too much. I noticed that @THC SCIENTIFIC new box mod also plans to use a single 18650 so I'm not sure.

I haven't tried the Herc on my eVic VT only the Sigelei 150W TC (which is 2x 18650). Now you've made me want to give it a try!

Does the eVic VTC Mini suffer from the "initial burst" that the eVic VT does? Apparently this is actually a feature (its used to determine if the coil works in temp control mode) but I found it not great for flavor when running a 510 Kiss Globe dual coil.

I actually just tested on my VTC mini again with the black rod have the resistance locked at .81 and actually I'm pretty sure it just kicks me out of TC ti mode once it gets to hot/resistance raises because it worked good for awhile but it eventually stopped producing vapor (I am using a rig) sometimes I would look down and it would be back in VW mode.

So it actually doesn't keep me in the TC mode I have tried Ni and Ti modes.

i'm using the black rod. the white will not work in tc mode on the vtc mini because it's above 1 ohm. as for the initial burst, i haven't noticed it. if it is happening, i can't tell.

weird, that hasn't happened to me (yet). what temp are you using? i haven't tried above 300°f yet.

For box mods that are vw using a black Rod is best around 25 watts - 30

Hi All. Haven't actually invested in any W9 products yet, but I've messed around with quite a few different e-cig type atomizers for concentrate and they are all pretty disappointing. However, I get the impression that the Herc is truly a cut above, save for perhaps the complexity of the unit.

Either way, it seems it's made it through a few revisions and is relatively stable now. Please correct me if I'm wrong...

I think I am interested in the SR-74x but choosing a suitable mod or other device is proving a bit challenging. I'm anxious to hear more about the W9 box mod. I see the 8 is going at a crazy inexpensive price on oilvaporizer.com. However, all of the "know what you're doing and don't blow your face off" disclaimers are kind of off putting. I'm assuming the same will be true of the box mod, but at least it will feature temp control in addition to short circuit protection if I understand correctly. I know the 8 has short circuit protection as well, but it isn't coming across as a robust safeguard in the disclaimers...

Anyways, I suppose that will be true of all mods... For which I am not experienced, but am an electronics tech with common sense so not too worried. So, my questions are...

1) Do I actually require a mechanical / box mod in order to drive the Herc SR-74x?

2) I think I want to be driving it at 7.4v but if anyone wants to clear up the pros and cons of the low or high voltage, I'd really appreciate that.

3) Will there be / is there already a temp control circuit compatible with the 8? Is that even possible?

4) Is anyone driving a Herc and perfectly happy with its performance? If so, what are you driving it with?

Thanks :)

The herc can be ran on ther Persei or 8 vaporizers made by w9tech perfectly fine as long as you have aw18350 imr batteries

the 8 is a purely mechanical mod so no temp control and lots of adjustments to get used to

The herc can run on 510 threaded temp control devices with a 510 thread adapter

I haven't tried the black rod 3.7v yet although I do want to order one I've been extremely happy running my herc at 7.4 with the nibblerxl on my 2nd 3rd and 4th gen persei's and my 8 I've also been tempted to buy a 510 adapter to try it on my sigelei 150w temp control mod

I was very discouraged by all the disclaimers about complexity at first too. I probably would have been a customer years ago otherwise. Once I finally pulled the trigger, I pretty quickly realized how overblown all that stuff was.

Yes, you will need a modicum of common sense and you'll want to do some basic homework so you know what the parts do so you can do basic maintenance, but it's not anything real complex. And when you need support or have questions, people will help you.

There is no temp control option from W9 at this point.
