Think good thoughts for me, people; I'm preparing for what may be a quite traumatic experience for me. I'm traveling outside the country for 5 days, and for the first time since last May, I won't have my beloved LB within arms reach.

Leaving Tuesday (tomorrow) morning. I'm going to try and think of it as a cleansing retreat. :peace:

Let us know how it went. I might not be the only one who's curious.

I got it here at work, but since I don't have my box with me, I was going to wait and try it out tonight. But then my boss come over and said "hey, I have my LB in the car...let's try it out!". Just had a session in my office for the first time ever.

This thing fuckin' rocks! It seems a little bit crude at first, but it sure does work nicely and it's only a beta, so....

I'll post a more thorough review when I go through some trenches at home.

What kind of warranty does the pa have?

I was also wanting to know a few things about the PA while i contemplate purchasing it.

-what kind of warranty would the pa have if it has one? (lifetime would be nice :brow: )
-what cosmetic changes will be made to the beta model before the pa's official public release?
-will any changes be made that are not purely cosmetic?
-will the price fluctuate more than $20, up or down?(even though 80 would be pretty steep)
-will the classic mflb kit + the pa be available in a package, if so what is a ballpark price on how much the package will be?
-is the pa predicted to be released to the public say by the end of February, or will it be earlier/later and if so, how much?
-how long is the current waiting list for the beta, say if i ordered it today when would it be likely to ship out?

Thank you if anyone can answer these questions, especially magic flight if time is available. Im not really familiar with beta testing of any kind so i was somewhat unsure what the details are. I also felt like little info was available on the pa in this thread other than it being completely awesome so others might have been feeling the same way and could be helped by these questions.

If it is too early to answer some of these questions then im assuming that the PA will not be released to the public for quite some time.

(edited so it would make grammatical sense :D)

I have two Flight Boxes and I have been a big fan of the company, but I just ran into a situation with a very dim/non functioning light in one of my boxes, and was told that this is not warranted beyond 30 days. Since I have two MFB units, I am able to verify that I am using good batteries and compare the units and the light

Seems a bit inconsistent since any Magic Flight box user is accustomed to using the light to verify that you have a good battery and the Flight Box is working. I am really quite surprised and somewhat disappointed by this

Hi,

Some general questions answered:

Vaporgin. said:
-what kind of warranty would the pa have if it has one?

Not sure yet. It will at least have a 6 month at a minimum. It may very well end up being lifetime (fairly likely). The critical variables have to do with how readily we can 1) repair and recycle the components, and 2) obtain replacements. Some of the parts were hard to obtain in the 1st place. Offing a warranty depends on our confidence that we will be able to source equivalent components more or less forever.

Vaporgin. said:
-what cosmetic changes will be made to the beta model before the pa's official public release?

So far, the only things that are certain are for us to add "feet" and some sort of engraving. There may be other changes. Most likely they will be minor cosmetic changes.

Vaporgin. said:
-will any changes be made that are not purely cosmetic?

Not that we are aware of. At least, we hope that there will be no such changes. Determining/confirming this is the reason for Beta testing.

Vaporgin. said:
-will the price fluctuate more than $20, up or down?(even though 80 would be pretty steep)

That much of a price adjustment (in either direction) is very unlikely.

Vaporgin. said:

The long term aim is to have this be so. We would like to be able to offer a combined package for $159. It is not likely in the near term, and we are not sure yet if it will be possible at that price. We are working towards this, however.

Vaporgin. said:

We hope to have the release version in production in late February. They should be available for general purchase in March.

Vaporgin. said:

Waiting list looks to be 2 weeks, currently.

Good to know that MF is offering a warranty on the pa. I was gonna wait for the public release but I had to have it now. I ordered mind last week so hopefully mine ships out this week.

...non functioning light in one of my boxes...

Hi,

The light is similar in configuration/construction to a regular household light bulb -- none of which are expected to last forever (nor do we manufacture the lights). The light lifetime in the Box is also shortened somewhat by the fact that they are run in a hotter than average environment with many sharp temperature changes (which is hard on any pressured glass envelope with a metal to glass seal). We included them as a 'assist/training' feature, so that people could test battery strength visually rather than feeling for heat with the box empty and open (the more authoritative test). If we knew how to make a light that would last forever and would work functionally within the box, we would have done that. We do continue to seek make improvements however, so this may get updated.

Thank you very much magic flight for answering each and every one of my questions. I really appreciate it and im sure other potential PA purchasers will too. Im very pleased with all of those answers and am thinking i will now purchase the beta even though i told myself i would wait for the production model. I wish i could have some MF engraving on it but the PA looks way too awesome to wait two long months for cosmetic changes. I hope to be making my purchase soon :D .

MagicFlight said the price may go up or down, but there are more chances that it will increase a little bit.

Thanks, Trakteur!

The questions vaporgin asked is exactly what I was wondering.

This is my first post but Iv been reading through these forums for a little while.
I just wanted to let the people who are still deciding what vape they want know to trust me and get the MFLB. Iv had it about 2 months. I had a problem trying to get decent hits the first week but then realized I had to draw much slower. It's amazing at how important that is. After learning the speed needed to draw, having the herb ground up very fine, and a good fully charged battery this thing is amazing. I get so many hits off it and then realize there are so many hits left. I think I counted 21, all decent sized hits, with visible vapor and flavor up to the 9th hit. Then again it may taste like that for so long cuz its the strongest smelling bud I ever got. Kinda like plantains w/guava...amazing.. Lol
It really is efficient, and very discreet. I have used it at a concert, on a camping trip, chilling at the beach, and in my room with no worry of smell. I loved it so much I got one for my dad on Xmas.
There is a huge difference in efficiency when it's not ground up properly. I just purchased a space case titanium 2 price grinder, got it today it works well. The bud was extremely fluffy and moist so it was a lot harder to grind into a powder but I finally did it.
All in all it's a great vape that is extremely portable, with amazing efficiency, very stealthy, with a life time warranty, ohh wind proof, and soon an ac adapter that some people are already raving about. That just made this a perfect vape for home and outdoors. I love this box, and expect/hope to have it for life. If I lose it I would definitely get it again in a heart beat. I'd also like to comment on the great customer care. They answered all my questions right away and really do care about the customers input. More companies should operate the way magic flight does. I even got two friends to switch from smoking to a box of there own and they love it.

Another thing, if anyone has tried this technique let me know how it went.
I read before of some technique of breathing through your nose to create suction at a slow enough speed to get great hits. Well I think I found another way. If you draw slightly less than normal but lower your jaw slowly at the same time as inhaling slowly you can fill the mouth with vapor then once your jaw reaches the lowest point it can go, inhale all that in and raise your jaw back to start position and repeat. Timing is everything. If you lower your jaw at the right speed as you inhale at a sipping speed you can get real big clouds:o:D. Lowering your jaw causes the same suction and to me is easier so I hope I helped someone trying new methods. Anyways thats my :2c:, I really recommend it, it's that good. Sorry for the long first post.

To any other member out here, does anyone have the bulb stem that's was in the first pic? I know they don't make it anymore but was hoping if someone had one that they didn't use or want. Please let me know,
Thanks!!

My initial thoughts about the PA:

First of all I have to say that it is a fantastic addition to any box that is used at home. I'll still use my 2700s when on the go, but for anyone who uses it at all at home, this is a must buy.

I understand that this is a beta, so let me post my suggestions:
Rubber feet - Already been mentioned and MF says they'll definitely be adding this.

Power dial - It seems a little cheap. I would prefer a linear sliding contol myself. There are no markings on the dial, so you can't tell how "high" (pardon the pun) or "low" you are without moving it all the way as far as it goes in either direction to give you a point of reference. It sometimes "clicks" and sometimes it doesn't, which I guess adds to the "cheap" feeling you get when you roll the dial. Also, the way the dial comes out of the body is a little cheesy. It looks like an afterthought to cut a hole in the PA body (not a very clean looking cut). Since this is a beta I assume the production models will be cleaner. There is also no indicator to determine "higher" or "lower". That would be a nice addition.

I love the little push button to turn on the power....very intuitive. Kudos to whoever had that idea.

All in all I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone who uses their box at home. I get great rips from it instantly - no worries about a dead or dying battery. One thing I noticed is that when you load a fresh trench (especially if it's moist material) the entire trench kinda fuses together from the bottom where the conduction is taking place. It makes it hard to shake the shit up and sometimes even becomes practially welded to the screen. On more than on occassion I've had to use my brush to break up my herb as it wouldn't come off the screen by shaking/tapping. I have had this issue with my 2700s, but it happens even more with the PA. Not really sure what can be done about that though.

Thanks, MF for providing this cool addition to an already awesome little box!!!

Yes, I've noticed this happening occasionally even with the stock batteries that I've got. I wonder what causes that exactly... The moisture & heat combination seems to bind it together, and to the screen. I've also had to use the brush to slosh it around, except I used the back end (not the bristles) ^.^

I plan on ordering the PA most likely sometime this week as I was already very impressed with the MFLB itself, and if a PA can make it better, well I'm all for it!

That's a no-no. These screens are very delicate little fuckers. I noticed that just using my thumb to crumble up partially vaped herb started to wear the screen around the shoulders. And a buddy of mine already had to have his unit replaced because of using a glass poker that jacked up the screen.

Now I don't touch the screen with anything other than the brush.

the pa makes the box run a tad hotter, therefore causing the crystals all throughout the load to fuse together, causing a slight common problem known as "trench loaf" :) .....im assuming :p

Yeah, I'm aware of this and have heard of a few people having to get replacements from touching the screen with things they shouldn't be touching it with :)

The bristles however don't really do much to the herb when it's fused and stuck like you were describing, so I decided the back end would be more efficient. I try very hard to avoid making contact with the screen :), I wouldn't want to hurt my baby ^.^

I just push the herb around a little on the top with the back end and eventually it'll break up, and begin mixing properly once I start shaking it.

We would have, but for technical reasons, this is simply not possible. (The electron band-gap for silicon junctions is simply not low enough for there to be enough free potential for visible photon emission, regardless of the doping).

My two cents on the power adapter. First of all, it is great. Nice strong hits. Rubber feet on the bottom is certainly needed because the thing is light and can slip around. A dot or something on the dial to tell you how hot you have it set is also something that is needed. With the adapter, the LB gets much hotter. You do need to know how high you have it set. There is a whole new learning curve in how fast to draw with the adapter and this changes with how high you have it. A dot or something on the wheel would definitely make a difference in shortening the learning curve.
I find that I must draw a bit harder with the pa in order to keep the temperature cooler inside. Though I have not had combustion, I do believe that I have inhaled smoke if I draw on it like I do when I use batteries. I have ended up with spent trenches whose bottoms are black.

I keep reading about people who are trying to create clouds when they exhale. Remember, clouds are unused vapor. This is wasteful. I believe that you want to draw enough but not exhale real clouds. Please correct me if I am wrong. To paraphrase an old saying " Inhale all your pot, children are straight in China".

Hey guys, I vape all day erry day so I thought I'd finally register after lurking this fine forum.

It's been a great year as I've come across three vapes, the MFLB being my most recent.

Love the portability factor of it all, and the no-smell. My gf is allergic to smoke so without vapes I'd be outside year round. The MFLB is something I can use right beside her, that's priceless :)

Anyway, looking forward to being able to get a power adapter. I was just reading the wiki (just got my MFLB in mid Dec) and was excited to see it's development.

Just from the holidays I've got one friend buying a MFLB and another definitely considering it (among other vape options.) Love the lifetime warranty, etc etc, the company has great customer service.

I ordered one with a shirt, since it's been so long since I've had a weed shirt, and I like the MFLB logo/slogan. It's also not a weed shirt to anyone who doesn't know what the MFLB is. Anyway, they accidentally sent me the grinder upgrade instead of the shirt. Normally that would have been fine, but I've already got a nice chromium crusher. I wrote them in email, and within 4 days I had a shirt at my house and they advised me to keep the grinder or pass it to a friend.

Very happy with the product. It seems to be essentially a portable version of my purple days, which is my everyday workhorse.
