Just want to clarify that I enjoy coffee and stouts very much.

I don't understand the negative view of ABV. You take the flowers we all love, cook them, and they become shit? Sure, the flavor is nothing like delicious fresh ganja, but shit? It tastes fine to me...

No worries, I'm not trying to rag on you so much. The distaste toward ABV is pretty common, I just want to offer an alternative view not just for you but for the many others reading along.

Someone here mentioned before that they put cotton in the stem for smoother hits. is that true? would a cigarette filter do the trick? Does it affect the potency of the hit?

We have a thread on using cotton and hemp in the vapor path over here

    http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vaping-with-cotton.9892/

It's worth a read. I've got a little bit of cotton in my stem.

I guess i should just try it out. Ill put it on the inhaling part of the stem so its further from the heat source. Or maybe use the whip just for extra measure. Also organic cotton was a useful tip.

I eat ABV in one form or another daily. I have for years.
It is already carbolated and fast acting.
    3 grams will do ya@!

I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought some of the "glyph" batteries. I have only used the original batts that came with my magic flight a year or so ago. What kind of difference can I expect? Anything big? Most importantly, can I charge these new batts on the original charger? I had lost hope in the MFLB but thought Id give it another shot with the new batts.

The cotton technique made a HUGE improvement. I fitted a small piece of cotton at the inhaling part of a 1 foot whip. I found it almost as effective and more convenient. I love it.
I really want to get a bubbler. as i think it should be better than a bong, no? For people who use a mini-bubbler, do you still cough on big hits?

Fucking hell, i just took the biggest hit of my life. I cant believe how thick that could was. I could never do that without the cotton. I swear this just made my MFLB 10x better IMO. I hope MFLB come out with some filter whips and stems or something like that. Maybe make the filter a heatable metal mesh screen. That way it can be removed and placed int eh concentrate trey to vaporize the oil before torching it to clean it.

I don't know that there's a market opportunity for that stuff, which is where the craftiness of us stoners comes in :brow: hard to compete with cotton which costs a couple of bucks... as for metal meshes, maybe a small metal screen smashed up in a ball? Those are pretty cheap, too. Pretty sure I can still get 5 for a buck fifty local.

Its funny. I was thinking the same thing here. Ill try it out. Cotton is fine, but im wasting some good oil when i throw it out. If this metal screen idea works, Ill be a very happy stoner.

Save the cotton balls? I'm wondering what to do with mine, I don't have a convection vape and this one's saturated as hell now, getting close to plugging I think. Maybe a little bit of isopropyl and evaporate? Extract into edible? I've been able to squeeze some off onto the unscreened concentrate tray... pretty nice stuff for free.

They run hotter than the original batteries. They seem to run more constantly. Where the old ones seemed to lose some power with each hit, these are more consistent throughout a trench. They definitely improved my enjoyment of the box.

You can charge them with the original charger.

That thing looks beautiful. I dont know about soaking cotton in iso, especially if its bleached. Which most are. Im no expert just thinking of potential risks. Personally i would maybe just swallow it. Or put it in a piece of gum and chew.

I just tried rolling a pipe screen and shoving it in my whip and its definitely not as effective as cotton. Not sure its worth it. I guess if it acts as an "oil catcher" it could be cool to throw it on my concentrate trey and vaping my collection. We'll see. For now im keeping it and still using cotton. I have the screen in the part of the whip attached to the MFLB and the other end has cotton.

I flatten pieces of cotton that are embedded with oils between my fingers.
I pinch until flat, and the right size for trench, and I vape it directly in the trench.
My trench looks fine, and I have been doing this for a couple of years.

Hey, just thought I could share some pictures of my MFLB travel kit with you, as I am quite happy with it :

The carrying case itself is an eGo (e-cigarette) case.
The 3 small vials are filled with trench-size doses and I usually carry a small click-clack candy box (similar to this one) to store ABV instead of the grinder.
The vials are Eclipse Vape's vials. They have the same diameter and the same height (for the larger ones) as the batteries, making it easy to carry them in your standard battery case holder.

20 minutes to kill means a trench of Blueberry Haze and Sweet Skunk. Got some delicious coffee and some new juice, too. Today's been pretty good so far, let's hope it ends that way. First rain of the season, too!

I like the small containers. Personally, I use those camera film containers. They can hold up to 7-8 Gs of fine ground weed. I do need some smaller containers for better portability though. You can see the camera films in this pic:

Got so high today at home I started using my mini portable vacuum cleaner to clean my trench.
BTW did I stress how much I think some cotton in the stem makes the MFLB better? I can finally say I perfected MY vaping experience. It might not be very ideal for someone looking to conserve weed, but thats the least important factor for me. I'd rather buy some lower quality weed and enjoy that method than buying higher quality weed and using the more weed conservative method (Smaller hits, little to no visible vapor upon exhale).

I'm sure this is a common topic, but I have just purchased the PA after considering it for a couple weeks and am wondering what settings you guys and gals use personally. Is there a way to gauge the general heat of the trench based on the dial setting assuming the standard inhalation method? I am interested in trying different vaporization temperatures and seeing the differences in effect.

As long as the little LED light still works.. You can use that as some what of a power gauge, so you can relate the dial position to the battery's power you are used to..

If you get an IR thermometer, you can get an idea of the screen temperature.

edit: now that i think about it again.. since the temperature during the hit is controlled by the airflow, measuring it at a stand still would be kind of pointless..

So im a bit of an insomniac, and i sometimes have these intense migraines about once every two weeks. I want to make abv my medecine. Fucking tylenol gives me high blood pressure and melatonin leaves me foggy the next day.
I guess im just posting to ask of anyone has been in that situation.

I prefer oil for migraines. I have a couple dabs saved up just for that specifically. More cannabinoids faster than eating ABV.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to save some oil. What type of oil do you use? How effective is it?

And an unrelated question, but do you bother removing stems from ur weed before vaping? Not the big ones, just the tiny ones.

So the boxes have gotten noticably hotter than when I bought my 1st one. My recent replacement is much hotter and I have actually combusted twice with it. Something I never did before.

Honestly though, I much prefer it like this.

i made the same observation with my recent replacement, too. also, it seems to close tighter than the previous version. i thought, it was just the feeling of new. but now, as you mention the same, my observations my be not that subjective at all.
