Head of Pot
I started smokin when I was 13 and all we had were aluminum contraptions. If that fucked me up at all more than normal, then I certainly haven't noticed yet. Then various metal, wood, stone bowls. I switched to glass in high school. Then started vaping about a year ago (im 27 now) and started launch-boxing a couple months ago.

The picture was posted right after Mom's post saying something about using it daily, and I just wanted to show how clean it can stay, even with a good bit of use, if you keep up with screen brushing. So its not like I was off topic or anything.

Zap just got here.....LOVE IT

Using the shit out of it is fine and dandy. I think of the LB as what my grandfather would have used, if he vaped. Potential long-term issue is w/the air intake: wood + plexi.

The stem is acrylic if i'm not mistaken. No issues with acrylic i believe. I don't even use the stem, neither do a lot of people.

Does wood in the airpath really have any long-term issues? People have smoked through wood pipes for years and i've never heard that it was unhealthy for you, and vaporization takes place in even lower tempertures than combusting.

There is a very good reason bare wood is favored for cutting boards by professional chefs and serious cooks. It is the naturally occuring anti-bacterial properties of the bare wood. The same would hold true for the mflb.

I'm in Culinary School :brow: so i know first hand that wood is favored for cutting boards. Thanks for the knowledge though! i'm still no expert....

Not at all, you were bang on topic but you didn't clarify why you'd posted it. Anyway, the criticisms were for something else: your choice of the LB as a daily vape, and I find them as spurious as you do.

First, it's a personal choice; second, the LB is perfectly capable of handling heavy use as you showed; and third, the implication that the LB is somehow unhealthy because of the wood and plexiglas (without a shred of supporting evidence) made something snap.

You could accuse me of being overly protective of the LB. You'd probably be right.

Just picked up some of the Sanyo Eneloop batteries that someone mentioned in this thread.

I peeled the label off one and once it was removed the little white paper right that is on the positive end came off

I was wondering if I can just remove this and use the battery without it or if I should some how attach it back on?

Does it matter?

The paper on the positive end can be thrown away, it is merely cosmetic;
eventhough I glued ( elmers white ) some end papers just to identify the new batts.
Eneloops are good standard batts. I like the duracell 2650's. They stay strong and when
they weaken they go dead fast which I like because my sanyo charger does not discharge,
so I like my batts to be totally dead before charging.

I don't know if this is typical but I am getting a slow, gradual, but noticeable condensation layer right above the heating chamber. This might just be my technique or my stash, so I don't know if others have this. The first time I cleaned it I had to resort to applying a dab of toothpaste, but it comes off.

What I do is scrub the underside of the cover with my tongue after each trench and then dry it with my shirt. You get a bit of resin and have a clean cover to boot.

Cool thanks for the quick reply!

I'll check out those Duracells next time for sure.

I think I was the intended recipient of that message, and I understood it perfectly, it was totally on topic. :brow:

Hey everyone, about to order a Launch Box as my first vape hopefully.

I use quite frequently so I think I wanna get some extra batteries.

Do these batteries work well with the box? They are NiMh but i've heard about peeling labels off and some brands are better than others for vape usage.

Thanks

I can't tell what capacity those have, but it doesn't really matter. Energizers are not a good choice, in my experience. I tossed four Energizers after a while because they just were disappointing, and they were batteries 5-8 in my rotation anyway. I found I only needed four battery rotation, and in fact I know I could get by with two.

See http://www.vaporpedia.com/wiki/Magic-Flight_Launch_Box#Batteries for some more help. There's also a lot of information on chargers.

Hey everybody, the black rubber wring inside of my box popped out, and is not fitting in properly. It seems too have warped or stretched out.

I haven't had any problems using it with out it, has this happen too anyone else? Or does anyone have a resolution?

Got a trench of Cali-Mist waiting for me!

It was talked about in the last 10 pages.

You need a special tool to put it in, so if it comes out you just live without it..

Lost in Thought
I just rediscovered my LB tonight. I purchased it several moons ago, sold it to a buddy whom I was trying to convert to vaping and recently sold him/traded him my LB back for another vape.

Man, I cant believe how much I missed hitting this thing.
3 trenches in and I cant believe how bent I am...
Awesome

I've had my box for almost 2 months and it looks like the rubber around the trench is starting to warp.

Alright, I've had this vape for at least a month now and I can barely get high with it. It's so disappointing that I'm asking here because it doesn't seem like I'm doing anything wrong. I've tried plenty of different methods of hitting it (2/5 second warmup, using the cover as a carb, long/short hits, drawing the vapor in my mouth first/directly inhaling, finely/lightly ground, several different types of weed, using the straw/not), but it just takes forever to finish a bowl and the most I'll get is a slight buzz. Yeah, my tolerance is probably up, but a single hit from a bowl will do more than trying for 10 minutes with this vape. When I tried it out with some friends we each matched a bowl and we all got high, but for me that was confounded by the resin hit out of a pipe I did after. It simply doesn't work for me. What the hell? And if you suggest just vaping like 3 trenches at a time instead.. that would take me so damn long to do.

to give a quick reply, i have 2 things to say

in owning and using a mflb for close to maybe 8months that when i would try and show how great this vape was to more experienced tokers, the main drawback came down to the point that they could not get a big, and by big, i mean, lung filling, and thick milky vapor hit and that is why they could not get that high off of it which i could understand

i think that the mflb works for me so well is that i did master my own technique to using it and that i do not have a huge tolerance to getting "medicated" but this is something that you might find interesting, through the months of owning and using the mflb, i would smoke once to maybe every 3 or 4 uses of my mflb. after a week or so of straight mflb use and then going to smoke, it seems like my body somewhat resisted getting high by use of smoking, so when i didnt get high, so i used my mflb that same right right after smoking a bowl and feeling nothing and low and behold, my mflb worked as usual so in my opinion, my body got used to the feeling of a vape use and somewhat rejected combustion

weird but awesome haha

so my advice to you is maybe you need a vape that hits way thicker or harsher, but like said before in this thread, a learning curve is persent and you have to find you own way to use it, give it a good 20 or so uses trying a slightly different way each time and see what happens, hope that helps

cheers and happy vaping everyone

Seconded that!

BTW 2 out of 3 people I showed the LB to (who tried it) said they would like it if they could always combust with it.

Read through the 'Usage and Tehnique' section of Vaporpedia:

http://www.vaporpedia.com/wiki/Magic-Flight_Launch_Box#Usage_.26_Technique

Have you dried your weed enough? It should be crispy before you grind it (as finely as possible of course).

And what colour does your weed go? Make sure you take it to a medium brown at least.

And is this the only vape you've tried? Because vaping has a somewhat different effect to smoking - and yeah, vaping right after a smoke isn't going to be a good way of judging the effects.

I first tried it with some really dry weed (which I've now had for almost two months and was dry when I got it, but has been kept in glass), so that's not the issue. I'll read that wiki link.
