What kind of battery do you have? If it's 750, it's an old one and likely defective if it's dying quickly. Call FF and see if they will replace it with one of the new 770s at their expense.
Emailed them, thanks for the heads up. It's 6 months old but in mint shape as only used a couple times but is now my daily driver. Battery life is awful though!!

You no doubt have a battery that's a lemon. Dunno why they are still bundled with new FFs....somewhere in the supply chain they have done a horrible job of purging this defective stock, and it's unfortunate because it gives new buyers, with no way of knowing any better, the impression that the FF performs poorly. FF really needs to get the 750s out of the chain, for their own good at this point.

Good luck, let us know what happens....

Could someone offer some tips on using the concentrate pads?

I put some wax or shatter on them and start heating for quite some time. I am getting zero vapor as the concentrate is heating. When it starts to melt, I finally start to get a small bit of vapor. Lastly, I get just a bit more vapor when the concentrate has completely melted. Then whoosh, it's gone.

Concentrates are expensive and I don't feel I'm getting my money's worth when using them with the Firefly. I get little vapor and it seems they melt too fast. Thanks for any ideas.

FF were kind enough to send me a few of the pads, and I'm ashamed to say I have yet to try them. I don't use concentrates so I can't be much help with that (though I'm sure someone here posted about using them with the pads a couple months ago...might be worth a thread search)....but I do have some ice hash I can try with the pads. I'll let you know what kind of results I get.

EDIT: Check out @studmuffin 's posts in this thread....he has reported quite a bit on the pads. Here's the first one....http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-firefly-vaporizer.11365/page-206#post-761795

Hi all,

I'm new here. I bought a firefly about 10 months ago, and I have loved it.

After that time of moderate to heavy use, it has stopped working. The ceramic bowl is just doesn't seem to be that hot and most of the bud is still green after a long session.

I have contacted service many times now, with no response. I've heard that Firefly service is awesome and that factored in to me choosing this vape.

Any ideas? Is there an effective way to get service to help me out?

Your coil has likely died.

As others said, call them on the phone today. They will get you fixed up ASAP. Good luck.

Thank you all so much.

I had tried the online form with no luck. I thought that made the most sense.

I'll be giving them a call soon. Thank you so much.

I can't wait to have my FF back!

My thing is that not only am I not getting "stoned", I'm not getting even mildly high. Its not even consistent in helping with my sleep issues, and as much of a lightweight as I am, that should not be problematic. I'm not getting enough to help with my pain either if I vape. So its not all about "getting high", its about this device not functioning well to provide the expected effects.

Buncha people in the "transitioning thread" that was linked to a few posts back say that its not the same high, even someone in one of the responses to my posts say it's "more cerebral" etc.

I hadn't been mixing fire and non-fire - but since discovering actual fire works where the firefly fails, eg for the past day or two, I've switched back to fire. My mouth tastes like an ash tray, but at least I sleep nights now.

I have no way of telling. It seems to me that this device does not maintain heat evenly once you start to draw and as the battery runs down. I can see the glow fade when I start to draw and the green light starts flashing even on a fresh battery. The battery life is just pitiful too. I didn't think this would be a problem for me as I don't use that much product at one time. If I smoke the amount I've been trying to vape, I'm blasted. But if I vape (at least with the FF I have), it takes forever and I never feel the full effects. It can take an hour to vape the little half-gram or gram or whatever fits in there with the Whispr screen in place.

That's another issue with the FF - I simply do not have sufficient manual dexterity to get the screen in properly, let alone get it out and back in again for cleaning. The Whispr screen pops in and out super easily - but it is a pretty coarse screen that comes on that and some product does fall down into the area where its not supposed to be. Not a lot, but some.

It seems to me that it cannot possibly be maintaining even levels of heat. I have no way of telling if that is user error or if the device itself is malfunctioning as there is no temperature display and I have no way of measuring the temp it is achieving.

It is very dry, too dry IMHO. I need to get one of those cases with the gel pacs and see if I can rehydrate it.

I rarely see anything visible on exhale. I was told that is because vapor is invisible. I have repeatedly wondered about whether or not this device is achieving a high enough temperature.

I leave the product in there until it turns brown and crunchy, and that takes quite awhile. On the order of 45 mins to an hour.

I would have thought the same, LOL!

Nope, I don't know anybody like that. And trying actual product in the USA would be highly illegal as even in those states where it is legal, even when its legal on a recreational level, it is illegal to smoke in public. Or vape. No legitimate store would let you try-before-you-buy, especially not in-store.

Sadly.

I don't know either. But I'm super super disappointed.
The ff is a good portable but you may need a plug-in vape for transitioning from heavy combustion. See if you can demo or grab a volcano, and suck a bag down. If this doesn't get you stoned no vape will.

I am not saying that bags are the way to go long-term. But I am saying that it's worth a try. I tried a couple of vapes before I took to vaping, and the silver surfer finally did the trick for me but there's more of a learning curve. The volcano people also make a couple of non-bag heavy hitters, the plenty which may also be a good plug-in choice and the mighty which is a foolproof heavy-hitting portable. I don't normally recommend storz & bickel vapes right off the bat, but while they aren't known for their economy or even the best flavor, they are known for full extraction of thick, highly-effective vapor.

Does anyone ever feel like they don't get as medicated with the firefly as they would another device?

Anyone have trouble removing the concentrate pads? I've never been able to get them out with the flimsy plastic cleaning picks, so I use metal tools, but that pulls the metal strings apart.

Also, I'm wondering what people think of the plastic picks. Seems like plastic is a bad idea when dealing with that much heat. My FF's bowl stays pretty hot while I'm cleaning it out.

After receiving my firefly today I became suspicious as to whether it was authentic or not so I compared to the counterfeit images and the 7 bullet points fire fly has on their website. the pictures confirmed that everything was fine with my unit of the fire fly apart from the box. As mentioned on their site, "Counterfeit box has less space between top and bottom" the space between top and bottom of my box matched the image of the counterfeit box. However, its only the box so its hard to know whether to return just because of that? there is also a very tiny chip of red which is barely noticeable, has anyone had any minor cosmetic damage such as this?. I have waited for this product for so long and would like to know if should go ahead and use or return?

Is there a reason, other than the box, that makes you suspicious? Where did you purchase it from? (Knowing that could shed some light...)

If I were concerned, I would call FF directly on Monday and give them the serial number and see what they say. (You can send them an email now and they might even reply before Monday but a call is probably your fastest path to resolution.)

thanks for your reply. i purchased it from owlvapes.co.uk, for £10 cheaper than most other websites but they do mention its on sale. After reading forums a lot ive only just come to realise there loads of counterfeit models. owlvapes seems to be a fairly new website, they do have good customers reviews, 83 in total (not that many) averaging 4 stars. i began to doubt them as i have not heard much about them, only the website, trustpilot, have reviewed them.

Sounds like the unit itself passes at least a cursory examination of the major counterfeit symptoms (though I don't know what you mean by "chip of red"...do you mean you have a red FF and there is a chip in the finish? If so, yes, there are occasional reports of minor cosmetic issues, I don't think that's in and of itself indicative of anything re authenticity). The box thing could almost be a judgment call. (Maybe you could show us pix?) The retailer...sounds like "not enough data". Here in the states there are only a couple of authorized places from which to purchase, so it would be easier to be suspicious of another retailer, but you have me at a disadvantage when it comes to Europe etc.

I would guess it's fine based on the unit itself but again to be sure send FF the serial number and get them to confirm its authenticity. (Also worth asking them about the retailer you purchased from.)

Good luck, let us know what happens...I am intrigued! :hmm:

thanks for the reply. yes, there is a small chip in the finish. ive emailed FF with name of the website ive purchased from along with the serial number. though the serial number should confirm its authenticity, its possibly not the best confirmation, im not sure, im thinking of people who download operating systems from torrent sites and use keygens to generate real serial numbers as well as there being other methods to get real serial numbers just to make a fake seem real? when it comes to a vaporizer im not sure they go to this depth to cover up the fake version

Hi all,

I have been using my Firefly for around 3 weeks and have taken the time to read all of the posts here.
There is indeed allot of useful information and I would like to share my experiences to date.

I used the Firefly at first as most people and Firefly themselves suggested. That is
1. Medium course ground material
2. Slightly packed bowl
3. Four second preheat
4. Slow draws for around 20 seconds each

The results were very good, but not excellent (at least for my preferences)
1. Initial 3-4 hits were extra smooth with medium sized clouds
2. Beyond this hits were courser with little, if any, vapor
3. No stirring as I don’t like opening the lid during sessions
4. ABV material brownish with patches of green
5. Battery light green though everything, which seems to be a good sign for me (e.g. none of the reported battery issues)
6. Cleaning was a bit difficult as there always seems to be some material between the bottom screen and chamber wall. The screen had to be removed each time to remove the material.

My preference actually is to use less material and obtain more even colored ABV material. However, numerous attempts to use less material in the chamber resulted in worse results.
Then after reading though the posts I tried an Arizer domed screen. The screen fit in perfectly, like it was make for the Firefly and it cuts the size of the bowl down by around 30%, which was just what I wanted. I put material in the chamber, but don’t pack the bowl at all. My guess is that the chamber now holds around 0.05g of material, which is just right for 3 good hits for one session for me.

As a plus, I don’t need to preheat as much or pull for so long to get good vapor clouds. Both extend battery life and my batteries (I have 2) last 5-6 bowls each. Another plus is that to cleaning the chamber is simpler. Just remove the Arizer screen as it can be hand-lifted out in one piece with all the ABV material. There is absolutely no material left behind or under it and the chamber looks practically new. Finally, the ABV material is more uniformly dark brown. I suspect the Firefly runs slightly hotter based on these observations.

So for those who want to use the Firefly with less material and completely finish everything in one session, then this method works perfectly.

I plan to keep fine tuning this method, so any feedback and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for those who posted here and suggested this method in the first place.
Overall, I am very satisfied. The Firefly is an already excellent product and they should even consider incorporating this type of mod in Firefly 2.
