Occasionally, I want to access FC from a location that is doing URL filtering, and gets hung up on the F-bomb. To get around this I used to be able to access FC by using its IP address instead of the name. Worked pretty slick. After some time, I tried the trick again but it no longer works. Attempts to access the site by IP address just forward to fuckcombustion.com. Is there an advantage to the way DNS is set up now? Because I was getting functional use the old way.

The only time I have noticed a block was when I was using free wifi when I'm out. If I keep my phone on data only, I never have a problem. Plus, it kinda worries me that people could be watching what I am doing when I am on public wifi.

Yes, I was thinking of free wifi (coffeeshops and libraries), as well in the workplace. Some run software that blocks sites with certain keywords in their domain names. When I could access the site and all sub-pages via IP address only, it wouldn't trigger the block. I used to work with network blocking software, which is called "filtering" (but it's still the same thing). They software we used wasn't smart enough to block IPs, only domain names.
Not a huge problem for those use VPNs, but it was a nice trick to deal with draconian blocking measures.
