Opinions on a few specific smaller bongs + general q's

This piece would be used with log vapes (PD, HI) and an MFLB sans PA.

I guess I'll start with the general questions first:

  1. Carb hole or no? I think I actually prefer a carb hole for some reason. I think it's because lifting the log vape off and then removing the stem is awkward.
  2. Glass thickness? How important is it?
  3. Safety? Are fumed and colored glasses safe?
  4. Size: I only have experience with a wine-bottle sized bong, but I really like this size.
  5. Ease of cleaning: what factors make a bong easier to clean?
  6. Is diffusion really necessary? I have never used a diffused bong.
  7. What is a bent neck like during use / which tube shape is easier to use?

I am leaning towards the first one, it seems most similar to what I am used to using. But i has no carb hole. Can any of you relate experiences that may help me make a more informed decision?

No carbs, when you pull out the log or the MFLB, the stem is so high airflow that even if you don't pull it out from the female joint of the bong, it'll clean the hit the same.
Makes sense???
From here I'll go for the first one as well, you really want those slits :) besides, you can upgrade to a better showerhead stem or different.
The last one, worked one, looks cool as well and can be upgraded as well. Good luck with your choice.

Also the downstem joint is bigger, but that doesn't really matter to me.

As someone who has used that tube (the 2inch shorter one, same downstem) for a verrrry long time, I'd recommend a SSFG travel tube over the RX tube.

Its $60 instead of $80 (same shipping price usually for both), but for an extra $15 you can upgrade the SSFG tube with a showerhead diffuser. Fantastic bang for the buck.

My 2 cents?

No carb. I use my log all the time with out pulling it to clear.
Smaller is better.
Less water is better, cooling vapor is not like cooling smoke.
Some diffusion is good, this could be accomplished with a small showerhead downstem.
Glass? I'd say 3mm+ Borosilicate.
Safety? Going with Boro should do it.
Cleaning? A removable downstem is easier. I don't care for removable, just one more thing for me to drop. BUT on the + side you can upgrade the stem if you want.
An ISO wash should be all you need to clean it if you're using it for vaping only.
I also vote for a small handheld sized, maybe the size of a soda can, and a bent back neck.

My removable RX industries downstem has been stuck in my tube for about 5+ months :nope:
I think that's my #1 reason for not recommending it.

I also only paid $50 because I went to their retail store, so I'm very satisfied from that price, but for $90 shipped for almost the same thing I'm not as convinced.

I ended up going with the smaller, artsier option:

I like that it's locally made in the PNW, and has a little personality but form doesn't impair function. Also it seems like this is about the same size as an SSFG travel beaker.

I love smaller pieces. Dude, this is vapor... unless you have some pretty heavy hitters, you're going to want a smaller piece. I love those full-bodied/flavor hits of vapor, hard to get on a large piece.

Local blown, looks nice and thick, that joint looks like a HVY or MiO piece... they're pretty indestructible in that area. NICE graphics. I to, would like to see more pictures and video.

The piece itself
-definitely 5mm
-the 18mm joint is a thickened ring of glass that has been ground out to size. It is not a full-length 18mm taper, it's low profile (accurate to product description). it definitely looks different than in the stock photo
-38mm tube dia is definitely proportional on this size. If I had gotten the taller one, it would have been pretty goofy looking, like a broomstick handle attached to a lightbulb or something
-downstem is shorter than expected

ordering through BWG:
-they were really helpful on the phone
-it might have been nice to know that the green was going to be a lot darker
-apparently they dropped and broke the matching pink bowl, so they substituted a white one. Is this pretty standard operating procedure?
-shipped same day as ordered, I think.
