Menier's Disease & MMJ

Hi @GenYHippie, have you looked into any of the exercises that help those suffering vertigo? Some refer to it as retraining your body to balance itself. In addition to finding the right strains for you, this may help as well!

Here's one to start with...

Hope this helps!

No i hadnt thank you DDave. The appointment was mostly a brush off. He removed some buildup since i was already there but aside from that he said to ask my GP for a Neuro referral. I didnt have huge hopes but i was hoping for a more through exam than looking in my ear and up my nose :(. Im not in a place i can hear the video ATM but when i get home and have my earphones i shall check that out.

No problem. There are many different versions of these exercises... Key is not to switch them up before giving any one a chance to work. From what I've read, 5-7 days is a good period of time to do these exercises to see if one has the desired effects, but some report 2 weeks.

Hope this helps! Next to the Nausea Monster, I would say the Dizziness Demon follows close second in things I'd love to see stamped out!

Hi DDave - just a quick note for now as I have to run, but I have Meniere's as well and have been dealing with those same episodes off and on since 2000. Send me a PM if you'd like and we can compare notes.

Like yourself, having access to MMJ has been a godsend. I wouldn't call it curative, but it sure helps take the edge off when that 8-hour vertigo spell comes on.

Hey @ataxian ,

Thanks! God Bless you too! I researched ATAXIA (SCA) when I read your postings and am really happy to hear you've found this relief! And due to your postings, I am really wanting to try Cactus Cooler strain! That strain has a prominent place in some of your postings, proudly sitting between your multiple Solos.. I think your pictures are awesome! And Sincere Thank You for your contributions to FC and its members. You inspired me to get out there and help!

Not sure if you're on the same quest as I, but I had Menier's for 5-6 years. Took just about 5 years for the diagnosis. Then I was blessed to find MMJ and I was in control again. So, now I'm here to give something back and help others find their relief!

I too replaced almost all pharmaceutical medicine I was taking with MMJ. A true gift!

It's great to know you and read your updates on FC! Have an awesome day!

DDave

PS. Why was this natural medicine passed up? Because government and big pharmaceutical companies can't have the monopoly on growing, distribution, and sales. Because it's fairly easy to become self-sufficient.... and where's their profits then?
@DDave how have you been?
I miss you around here!

California is crazy hot right now.
With my ataxia I'm useless. I hope your in a cooler place?

We miss you brother!

Ah im feeling ya Ataxian. Its hot right now. I usually save that querkle for night time but today between the RXs im still on and the MJ i am medicated into uselessness but at least im not throwing up like i was last night. Between my stomach being cranky and the heat bringing on the dizziness i was still up at 9am today. I didnt medicate enough soon enough to put me out since the symptoms were kind of sneaky.

Stay safe through the heat and i hope your ok <3

Hi @ataxian,

Doing well! Hope you are too!

A combination of technical and kid's school issues have absorbed a good portion of my time recently. The technical issues, now resolved, so I should be able to be here more often...

California is absolutely-crazy hot!

My friend, you are far from useless! You are an inspiration and a blessing!

Have an awesome day and we'll be seeing you in the Solo Thread (amongst others).. ;)

On a side note, maybe some info that will help cool off my Cali-Bros!
I am in a cooler place, though.... I installed one of these a couple years ago, and have never regretted it for an instant. Goes in the ceiling between the inside of the home and the attic and pulls house air into the attic at a pretty high volume. (Runs with door or windows open in order to pull in cool outside air). Not only does it cool the house unbelievably well, but it evacuates the "whole house air" very very quickly... (Though I wouldn't, I could have a combustion party in my house with this fan running and the next day you'd smell nothing. Although, venting on both sides of the house, my neighbors may be floating around the block for weeks! hahaha)

(The belt drive is very important! There are direct drive units that look to be more maintenance free, and be that as it may, they are crazy noisy!)

(Note to all, The edit window has long since closed, not allowing addition to the above posting.)

I know I've been away recently, technical issues not allowing me to get online, work issues not affording me the time, home issues adding to the stack.

Then, finally able to get back online day before yesterday!

Yesterday, Menier's decided to pay me a visit, at a most inopportune time, with one epic spin session! This time, couldn't afford to heavily medicate and sleep it off, as was far from home and with Family in different places at different events.

Was able to manage the symptoms, not getting sick enough to throw up... kind of hovering around light headed, bobble-head, stuck in thick fluid feeling.... but I managed to make it through the day... everyone picked up when they were supposed to be, and home safe.

Was only able to do this because of the way the Solo works. Pretty much auto-pilot, as any more involved would be too much to manage during an episode. But was able to maintain suitable level of medicatedness (not a word, but works for me at the moment) to function.... and no one except the wife knew I was in the middle of the Tilt-O-Whirl on overdrive! And that was only because I told her... ;)

Even though much less impacting to my life since MMJ, I HATE THE SPINS!!!! :cuss:

Update for those suffering Menier's or maybe any dizziness in general. So yesterday, got the warning signs that I was in for another day of the spins, so got prepped to medicate and sleep it off (writing the whole rest of the day off as a result). New strain this time. Fire OG, loaded Herbie bowl, two lung busting rips...

As the effects came on, as always, I noticed my symptoms going away, but what surprised me is they kept going away! This time THEY WENT AWAY 99% (1% as still had a feeling of fullness in the ears as when you get water in them from swimming, but none of the other symptoms remained.) No dizziness, no nausea, no lightheadedness... nothing... I was able to go back to normal activities... THIS WAS A FIRST! (Was even able to take a 3 mile hike approx 90 minutes after medicating).

This is only one time I have ever had this type of result with any strain, and Menier's doesn't always have the same severity or combination of symptoms, so will be "testing" further episodes against this strain when possible. May be some time before I can input more, as my attacks only come approx 2 times a year now.

But on the chance this could spare someone else a bout of spins or nausea, just keep the strain in mind...

It was...

To sum it up, I was able to get back to normal activities... THIS ROCKS!

Due to circumstances beyond my control (cliche, but it made me smile), for the last three weeks have been on a TBreak... Almost testing clean.

Also, almost unable to hear. My ears are ringing at volume 8. With prescription sleeping pills, am managing 3 hours a night, where I was sleeping 7+ with ease. Am just waiting for my next bout with the spins, for which this time there will be no relief.

This song.... only partly describes it....

I wish I had been using this thread to track the spins, even when able to instantly relieve them with mmj. Most events were light, so got lazy and didn't keep track of them.

Well, tracking this one. Sunday afternoon felt an episode of the spins coming on. Timing could not be worse. TBreak for work reasons, so have been riding this one out.

Sunday afternoon to evening - felt like a ship in rough waters. Ears ringing.
Monday - lost the day. The world an ocean of stormy seas! Fog horns in the ears! Almost :puke:
Today - ship in moderate waters. Back to ears ringing. Feeling like :goat:.

I cannot believe the irony of having the cure in a lock-box next to my bed and being unable to touch it. I can't afford to reset the clock on the TBreak!

Ever do this when you were a kid?

I did. But now the chair won't stop and I can't get off of it!!!

TBreak = :shit::shit::shit::shit:
Feel Like = :rip:

When TBreak is over, and spins again happen, this :leaf: will turn into this :ugh: into this :buzz:.

Thank you @ajadbe

It's definitely not comfortable, but nothing like I used to have. I'm not sure if MMJ cured part of it, or allowed me not to fight it, and it's rarely like it was yesterday any more.

I am very thankful for the anonymous person who posted in some forum about the relief he found for his Menier's symptoms in MMJ...

FOUND THE ARTICLE! (my benefactor is no longer anonymous!)

(NOTE, the journal timestamps are in minutes:seconds.... not in hours as they appear. Full relief in 19 minutes.)

Personally, I can attest to the full relief part, though overall time has varied I believe due to the severity of the specific incident).

The doctor prescribed Meclizine to take as needed and eventually it wasn't, anymore. I just found a vial which was last filled in May, 2009. Guess it was more years ago than I thought! Anyhow, looks like he's holding onto it "just in case," as we know many meds don't lose potency on their expiration dates.

Glad to hear the condition left him! The dizziness can really take away any semblance of a normal life.

I also understand the fear of it returning and holding onto meds!

(My solo and a small "to go portion" of meds goes with me on any extended trip from the house!)

Had to run some errands, and what a nice message to come back to! I'm a bit at a loss for words. (a rarity for me, I know).

I'm really sorry to hear about your fall today! I've been there as well! Hope all is ok! Most often an ice pack and a few bowls takes care of it fairly well.

I'm happy to hear about your Q working better now! It's a great unit that should serve you well for many many years!

The spins do suck! But with the support of family and friends (present company included), it really makes things much easier.

Thanks for the message! I feel better already!

For those who suffer from this debilitating condition, I sincerely hope you find the same relief!!!!!

For Reference.....

MMJ & finally I was given the gift of life once more!!!!! :leaf:
========================================================================
I have Meniere's disease and was ready to call it quits. After time, there wasn't a day that passed where the world wasn't spinning in overdrive and my head felt like a swollen hot air balloon. There were no activities with the family, no outings, rarely entertained guests. There is a cure for this, with a horrible side effect.... through surgery, they remove the part of your ears that handles balance and the dizziness goes away. The only thing is, the same part of your ear handles hearing too. So you trade losing the dizziness for your hearing. I went to doctors, specialists, and many others with "ists" at the end of their titles.... all with no progress towards gaining any resemblance of a normal life.

I was actually considering the surgery, as at all times my movements were hampered by lack of balance and nausea.... seasoned with the fear of starting a full blown episode (lasting 8+ hours, zero mobility, on my back, and throwing up constantly....).

By accident, I came upon a journal entry from another Meniere's sufferer who found relief with MMJ. That day, I was out getting my req and supplies.

So, in regards to this being a medicine, I'd back this absolutely.

Please share this with anyone if you feel it's appropriate or can help them.

I don't like to end on the negative, so will state that Meniere's has very little on me now. As for daily dizziness, it's gone!!!! I can walk without stumbling, run, bike, swim, and do all the things I never thought I would be able to do again. And as for the full blown episodes, yeah, they come once or twice a year.... but when they do I no longer spend 8 hours pressed into whatever surface I happen to be laying on, throwing up non-stop till passing out. Nope, when I feel an episode, I heavily medicate, then go sleep it off!

I went from ready to call it quits, to hoping I live to be 100-something!

When people state that MMJ is a gift, I believe many really have no idea!

Hope this helps and sorry for the amount of detail.....

Vape On!

I'm hoping to spread the use of medical Marijuana to all the Menier's Disease suffers out there as it truly manages ,masks, and relieves 90% of my Symptoms .
After trying to take 5 different medications my (ENT) Doctor was giving me that all had their own side effects and I could not function properly , so I decided to try MMJ .
I feel the best I have in a very very long time since I was diagnosed & became a MMJ patient and hope I can help all the people suffering from this invisible chronic debilitating disease .

I have found strains that relieve Nausea, Migraines , anxiety , depression , pain work best .
: White Romulan , Trainwreck , Ghost train haze are a few of my favorites

Welcome to FC and this thread!

Glad you found relief in mmj. Balance and stability are taken for granted by most. Not that one would expect any different, for if you've always had solid ground under your feet and have never known anything else, why would you expect it to go away. We know that it does for some.

How bad were your episodes? And did you have any symptoms that stayed with you.

For me, got to the point of always.... till the day I tried mmj. Wasn't a pro and of course did too much, that just resulted in a nice nap... but after time got it down to just what was needed to relieve symptoms and still be able to function.

This post is what got me more serious about perusing a MMJ card 1 year ago and getting the full benifits and potentials of all the different strains with the comfort of knowing where your medicine came from and knowing how it was grown , chemical , pestisde and mold free .

I found the right strains for me managing my Menier's symptoms with the help of my local dispensary's highly Knowledgeable staff .
We found that strains with the headband comfort feeling and that have these medicinal property's work best :
headache , migraine , nausea ,anxiety , pain

Strains :
White Romulan , TrainWreck , Ghost Train Haze , theirs at least 20 more of these type of strains , just have to find which one is best for you .

My personal Favorite that masks all of my Menier's Disease symptoms is White Romulan
