FACT: 29% of Americans believe in Bigfoot. I wonder what % of Loto Labs customers still believe in the Evoke . . . :\

    To our friends and supporters:

It's with a heavy heart that we tell you Loto Labs is no more. Just kidding (sorry). Sadly, Evoke shipment has been delayed by a few weeks, and we will fail to meet our goal of Q1 shipping.

We are very sorry about this, and for not delivering this update sooner. The news of the potential for a delay was accompanied by a cloud of confusion and conflicting, tenuous info. So, we had to wait for more clarity, while exploring possible solutions before making any projections with some semblance of certainty.
At this moment, it looks fairly certain we will initiate Indiegogo fulfillment and public on-sale no later than early May. We are intentionally padding this projection to be on the safe side, and trying as best we can to account for additional unforeseeable issues.

Here's what happened: Evoke is comprised of just over 100 individual electrical components, many of which are interdependent; all of which have to be sourced for manufacturing at certain prices and lead times. Evoke is a very sophisticated design, so any necessary change, no matter how small it may seem, has the potential to cause major ripple effects through the production process.

In our case, one tiny component was abruptly discontinued by its sole supplier three weeks ago, and this halted production. We were able to source another part (replacement components are known as a "cross" in electrical engineering vernacular) rather quickly. But, crossing that one component, given a board this complex, required changing two other dependent components. All of this translated to additional engineering efforts, costs, sourcing, and of course time. As frustrating as this has all been, the end result did improve the design of Evoke and has allowed us to insulate its manufacturing from any future discontinuance issues. But, it is painful still.

We know how it feels to hear this, and again, we are extremely sorry. Up until the end of last month, we were confident that we'd exceed our goal by a couple of weeks, and over-deliver (for once). In fact, we were planning to announce some other, exciting news around this time. So, realizing that we'd likely fail to ship by even the end of March hit us right in the gut. Please know that with every update, we are passing along the very best and most reliable information available at the time, and that getting clarity and the accuracy needed to project things months in advance is a challenge. Also, please keep in mind that no one wants to be shipping Evoke more than we do, and overshooting dates only to deliver this kind of update is the last thing we expected or desired.

We tried everything possible to avoid not reaching our goal. Still, we accept full responsibility for these sourcing issues and lead times. For us, everything has been building to giving you an EXACT SHIP DATE. We will have a date by the end of next week or early the following week, and will share it with you all as soon as it's clear and set in stone. For now, please expect early May. We also expect to get a very limited few off the lines in April and will hopefully be able to share them with a few online reviewers and earliest supporters.

At the end of the day, despite not meeting our shipment goal and having to write this agonizing update, we do feel at least fortunate that our dream of unleashing upon the world its very first magnetic induction vaporizer has never been closer to coming true. On this long and winding road, we are taking heart in the fact that good things are coming. Again, please expect a hard ship date announcement very soon, and some other good news to boot.
    Peace, Love and Vaping,

    The Loto Labs Team

Will they deliver the first induction vaporizer? Or will the haze merger after the haze square beat it to market?complex or modular concepts always take longer when its sold as a idea without a alpha prototype. The hard part is making a mass producible design.

What makes you say that? How can it be worse then the hopper, I keep sending it in to the shop.

You guys don't like that vape, ok that's your opinion, but to keep saying that there won't be a product, that's bs.

Have you kept up with this thread?? As in read the whole thing and know about this vape?
Since early 2014 this vape has been "In Design"...
They have 2 actual usage videos from a year or longer ago... That shows me amazing leaps and bounds in development! A whole TWO videos...

I am not saying it will never be released... It's just they have taken all the backers for the most amazing world wide tour ever!!

And now they have to redesign the board... Hello more waiting....

Fulfillment FIRST quarter of 2017.... Yeah right, maybe 2018??...
    http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/loto-labs-evoke.10756/page-23#post-1040280

Then a bit further back, release date of end of 1st or 2nd quarter 2016....

The thing is induction isnt a heating method, its a convoluted means of powering the vaporizer (which in this case is conduction).

The real question is WHY waste time and money on this idea?

The only benefit I see to induction heating is more fine grained heating control and less radiant heat. But radiant heat is necessary for conduction. So benefits back out the window. Maybe it could have better benefits for a convection element for less radiant heat and quick controls for draw speed heat adjustment. I think it's a unicorn that can be a good bullet point for advertising. Will take a long time if ever it's a worthwhile method.

How do you figure that? Its just a different means of conducting electricity, not a novel heating concept.

Haze is claiming little to no radiant heat with the merger. From what I understand the coil doesn't get hot only the ferrous metal inside coil. But it would allow heatsink like heat exchanger designs or other shapes not possible now. Think air pulled thru induction heated tube or CPU air cooler style heat exchanger.

There is no reason that induction couldn't be used to power a heat exchanger for a convection vaporizer. Imagine an Evo that has a ferrous heat exchanger in the bamboo powered by an induction coil surrounding it. Of course from my understanding the Evoke will not operate this way, but I'm just saying it's possible.

Induction does not transfer heat. It transfers energy in the form of EM waves. Whatever it transfers that energy to becomes the heat source and transfers that heat energy to the load.

I'm sitting here now using induction as an energy source to power my omnivap using @Pipes induction-jar-thingie. It's a beautiful thing.

Loud and clear. It's actually easier to hear than using a torch since the jar is silent.

I think it's counterintuitive to only allow precise control of the device with a smartphone. Not only is it a hassle to be locked into grabbing one's phone to adjust the temperature (even if the vape is in your hand), it also prevents those who don't care about smartphones from getting anything out of it.

With all this time waiting I'm not fond of the "final" looks. All this time waiting I've found something that works for me (what @Stu shared in his pic). Also in that time period it just seems newer vapes on the market make this seem obsolete. At this point IF I as a company still had funding I'd go back to the drawing board.

If this is finally released can we get a refund?

I was referring to the VC's in the pic. I should have been more clear ... in the VC Posts I have seen @Stu's set up ... and I'm jealous!:D
