    2. Click the picture icon ( [IMG] ) on the toolbar when composing your post here
    3. Paste the link to your image into the box that pops up and click Insert

The confusion with imgur arises from the selection of codes that it provides. There are two choices that often cause people to make mistakes: BBCode (message boards & forums) and Linked BBCode (message boards). You can use these, but if you do they must be pasted directly into the post without using the Image insert button. The reason is that they include the BBCodes but adding the BBCode is what the Image insert button does, so if you use it you get double BBCodes which mess things up.

If you want to use the Image insert button, the correct choice at imgur is Direct Link (email & IM). This is a link directly to the image (which is what the Image button requires) and not the imgur page holding the image (which will not work and is another common mistake). Use the link that ends in .jpg.

Edit: I copied this post from a thread asking for help posting images from imgur.com, but this applies to most image hosting sites and explains some common problems.

    cybrguy I mean really, WTF

I dropped this link into a thread (Lilly) where someone asked about resizing images. This is a great and simple tool for shrinking images before posting them. It is a clone of the Windows Power Tool "Resize Image". It is free and sits in the R-Click menu.

Someone with Mod privileges might want to drop this in the Posting Pictures closed thread...

    Instructions for Flickr:

Flickr does not let you right-click an image to obtain the link address. Instead, click the download button in the lower right corner, which pops up a list of available sizes. Right-click on the size you want, then copy the link address and proceed as above.
