Heady Glass

kingofnull: You've got it right that heady constitues cerebral and exhilerating. I've heard people say a piece is only heady if it constitutes the use of different stlyes and techniques tied together into one cohesive whole. Like all art it is subjective.

I say if it makes you contemplate and at the work than it's heady. I know people don't consider my glass heady because of the lack of linework my pieces have. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

I do however, consider my Adam G mini dub bub to be heady. It's got fummed retti's, retti marble, an opal, a fume implosion with airtraps, and a milli slice. All of this keeps the gears in my head turning when I look at it.

I like that addition to the definition.

And anyone who says that mini bubler isn't heady is f-ed. My heart literally started racing while looking at those photos.

Maybe not so heady, but my glass needed a little colour. My office is starting to look like a laboratory.

Oh, and I picked up that green dish/dabber set. I think I'm going to find an artist to make me a slide in these same colours (yellow, green, while, black).

The dabber looks like it'll be a good vape stir tool also.

Could someone perhaps define the term 'heady' for me?

I'm not sure what it takes to qualify as 'heady glass'; is it just about colored glass or is it really more about those tripy-fantasy pieces?

A little of both It's the opposite side of glassblowing VS. "scientific glass" which is clear glass without "worked" parts (meaning both colors and trippy glass effects or character glass sculptures...) !

First and foremost, all the pieces that people have posted have been extremely Sick IMO! Love all the electro forming pieces I've seen on ALT. I own mainly scientific glass, mostly clear pieces, some with just a lil color worked in that I do NOT consider heady...I do have 1piece that has a nice worked middle section, but it was cheap and is probably a mass produced across seas piece. I will still post a pic of it Sunday. Waiting till Sunday because I also want to post a pic of a custom piece I'm having made for me this week. Should be ready for pick-up Friday, but alas I work all day Friday & Saturday so can't meet with the local blower(was going to order a DG or Mobius piece, but since i run a local restaurant i decided i should try a local artist) to pick up until Sunday. I'm Super Stoked for my new bubbler, asked for a shower head perc, spacey looking heady piece with white being main body with purple accents, clear window to see bubbles in action. Dude said he wanted to try a honeycomb perc instead of the shower head which I'm completely OK with. Will have a 18female joint (so i can use with regular vapes) male2male adapter, dome, glass nail, matching dish and dabber set. As I said I'm Super Stoked and will have pics up soon! Just made some more oil last night so I will have plenty to dab on Sunday :-)
