Care to elaborate on the quick start function? I don't see anything about it in the manual.

@paytonpenn @firewood

For anyone with a fw4:
I'm am also not quite understanding the buzz on draw.

From what I've read here and in the manual the unit will buzz on initial draw to indicate the heater is turned on. (Meaning all subsequent buzzing means the heater temperature is low.) However I've noticed I get the buzz at the beginning of a draw. Every draw. No subsequent buzzes no matter the draw speed?

I am experiencing the same thing. I was just hopping on here to see if I was doing something wrong.

Click 1-4 times then immediately press and hold the button; it will power on, acknowledge the selected level and indicate battery charge.

I use it all the time but it'd be even better with a shorter button hold time :whip:

Got my replacement cooling unit as promised and you can see that there is no more overhang with it!

Sadly, the F4 took a tumble off of the Boulder in high winds and got banged up. The good news is that the glass piece was fine and the unit continues to work perfectly.

Solid work and even better service!

I didn't notice any cracks. Dented it and scratched it in a few spots. Pretty good fall though. Probably 5 ft and bounced off of some rocks.
Honesty I was pretty tired from the hike so I was like whatever, now it has character like me! I did use it on the way down though and it worked flawlessly. I'll check it out thoroughly tomorrow and rub some beeswax on it.

I'm really happy that survived the fall that well, thanks for sharing the pics. I really think this model will be significantly more durable than the fw3 mainly because it is about half the weight which means it has half the momentum when it hits the ground. I have dropped mine on a cement floor a few times without breaking so far.

FW4 Porn. Sorry some of the pictures are lighter/darker its been a while since i've used strobes so I was trying out different lighting positions/power. Hope you all like it.

Ive been loving the FW4 without the cooling unit. I opted not to get it because I didnt want to add extra size. I got the unfinished version, sanded the edges with 320 grit, and added some underdog butter to it. At setting 2 its been perfect native and then I bump it up to 3 to get huge pulls through my waterpipe. Well done @firewood

Wow @djchexxx those pictures are gorgeous!

I'm still eagerly awaiting my invoice, I think I'm towards the back of the list though so it might be a bit longer.

How's the vapor heat without the cooling unit?

Its perfectly fine at level 2. Im pretty sensitive to high temps and in general I never vape over 380F. Usually ill never go native at temp setting 3 but if I do i'll use a 14-18mm adapter to make the air path a little bit longer.

@ZC Thank you! And hang in there, man! Its definitely worth the wait!

the whole 4.0 package is quite pricey, no?

Opinions do vary... I don't think it's overpriced at all. It's designed and HANDCRAFTED by a single person, no plastic all quality wood, glass and high grade silicone parts. Just my .02

yea i know and respect that (it's MY problem ;) )
it's just that i'm confused by their "full package" that makes it that expensive.
can a simple user like me (a few hits a few times a week) purchase the basic unit and be happy?

Yeah, I totally think so. Try to look for the unfinished unit and finish it yourself. Saves a few bucks.:)

Cooling unit is 23 dollars. Sold separately. Technically this new model is cheaper than the old since it starts at 135 dollars.

yea i know,
i meant is it USABLE without it?
what's the differences?
what's the purpose of it being separated?

Its usable without but if you have one you'll probably always use it.

It prevents you from putting your lips on the soon to be warm mouthpiece also cools vapor. I think you are going to have an unpleasant experience at temps above 2.

Its an add-on item it just is separate impossible to properly all in one that system.

Weighing in here. IMO, the cooling unit actually makes the device more difficult to use while on the go. It's nice if sitting or standing still, but I find that the mouthpiece's small opening causes me to "need air" while walking and doesn't allow me to take a long enough drag. For some reason, the regular mouthpiece's wider opening allows for easier "sipping" while on the move in my case, but YMMV.

Finding that since a solid hit from the FW4 requires a 10-15 second pull, it may not be the most ideal vape out there right now for "on the move" use.
