Well since in getting back in the vape game im splurging a little and decided to go with the vapcap OG (cant beat 35 bucks shipped from puffitup). Any quick tips and tricks anyone can hit me with? Normally id read the entire thread buy I havent had much free time lately

I recently got an OG as well, so coming from a newbie I would say a few things.

1. Get a decent torch lighter. I was on a regular Bic for a few weeks and the difference is worth it, especially considering there are good and inexpensive options out there, and they're refillable. Outside, I can't imagine not using a torch.

2. Rotate as you heat. I read a tip from someone here about holding the torch at an angle, with the point aimed towards the end of the cap. I do that, but I also like to mix it up.

3. Experiment. There are definitely a few things that are straight-up right and wrong in terms of usage. Example: overheating too much is considered a no-no by everyone. But recent discussion has been about grinding nugs or loading whole mini-nugs, and using a screen or not using one.

For where I'm at right now, I'm fine with using the screen, loading a whole mini-nug for 1-2 cycles, then taking it out, breaking it down and reloading for one more.

There's more than one good way to use these bad boys, so it's all about finding your preference.

Check out the torch mod I put together with a pop tab. It makes heating easier and allows for better flame control. Just thread the Vapcap through the ring and twist until it clicks. :D

I needed to come back here to say just how surprised I've been to find that this vape works so well with flowers. I had never, ever used a butane vape that didn't drive me to insanity due to accidental combustion when I bought my omni!

I had no hope for Dynavap products to be useful for me with flowers (of course this wasn't my intention) because of this but boy did I ever get it wrong! The omnivap is my main driver for flowers now and those who are familiar know that there is a lot of stiff competition from other vapes at casa-del-herbivore!

I need to give credit where it is due here and eat my words on this one. Kudos to George on his outstanding work! :D

I like this so much, I'm gunna get this el cheapo lighter and try something similar. It would save me about $45 over the nice vector pyramid one, although obviously not as snazzy. ;) Thanks for the idea!!

Might it be possible to get a description of how this was done? I'm curious but have no working sight.

All I did was take the pop tab off a soda can and cut away the extra metal that connected it to the can. Then I forced it -the end that I cut- onto a sharpening steel and worked the ring until I could easily fit the Vapcap through it. The other end of the pop tab was secured to the top of the torch lid with a short bolt and washer so it could pivot into position.

I have never been able to combust with my VapCap, although I have not tried to do so intentionally. It's super easy to use and almost no learning curve. I can't say that with my VaporGenie, it took some serious time to master that one and even now I can combust by accident. I was able to have a successful session with my VapCap the very first time I used it.

And it's pisser though water!!

Screens change the airflow. It seems more open without a screen. The more the screen gunks up, the more it slows the airflow. By using a nugplug I feel I get more consistent airflow. I also feel I can pack the oven tighter and still get enough airflow.

I should add my ceramic screen that came with the vapcap broke, so I am doing this in place of using a stainless steel screen. I also do not use a grinder, so I have to break up every bowl pack anyways, so it doesn't take me any more time.
I think you and @Gardenerjeff have convinced me to try going no screen on my vapcap s. I'm curious to see how it will work and I hate grinding. I'd love to make a simple vape even more simple.

I manage to char the load regularly! I'm not worried about it though, it's almost always because I'm not paying attention. I'm using a single flame torch, and the 3 or 4 heat cycles isn't always right for me, and depending on how I pack it, if it's really full, I can get so many cycles from it that I lose count! I'm thinking that the triple flame might help in a way. As well as that, I have trouble twisting and holding the Vapcap steady, so the triple might reduce the need for as much coordination. (Thanks to Vapcap, I remembered we used to say someone was "un-co" when I was a kid! LOL)
I plan on using a file and removing a half circle of plastic from the lid just to rest Vapcap in while I twirl, if that makes sense.. reduce the flame height to match, and hopefully it helps with the stability issue.

This little fellow came in yesterday's post. Double-crowned Coco. I replaced the ceramic screen with a TI one, which improves airflow. Wish it could have come with the CCD screen like my OG, but such is life.

When I had it apart to change screens, I neglected to pay good attention to the o-rings. The condenser has 3-- one at the end to seal the mp. The other two came off when disassembling, but I think one goes between the mp and the body? And the other just goes somewhere along the condenser tube to keep the condenser in place? At least that's how I'm guessing. Let me know, so I can get back to hitting this charming woody.

I would say the OG is a little ahead in terms of taste. But one thing I like about the Ti is it seems to retain heat much better than the glass version. I can get two inhales per heat cycle, which may save on the butane long term.

so.. how fast are you supposed to go through butane? 1 night of testing and the triple torch from the dynavap website is empty. guess i should have made the flame smaller? lol. to be fair i stayed up really late and was using my new OG almost constantly haha. only had a few incidents, all 100% operator error. but i feel like i'll get the hang of it :)

i couldn't manage to get a can of butane to refuel today, so tonight is going to be candle testing.. so far it's going well though! i might prefer it to the torch for at home, indoor use. but i love having candles lit anyway so we are a good match. :spliff:

I use the same lighter and find it runs out once a day or once every 2 days for me. I heat my loads up more than you guys would because I use concentrates and not much flower. I do have less rips though because it is a concentrate and not flower ;)

I havnt been around these parts much the past week or two, life has been getting in the way. Does anyone else here just detest cars? Anyway, here's some @VapCap and @phattpiggie porn (with some nature thrown in for good measure):

jpCoMMM.jpeg

The Omnivap Barley twist sleeve that PhatPiggie made me has been standing the test of time and abuse that I've been throwing at it. My Omnivap has seriously uprooted all of my other vapes and it is pretty much the only vape I've been using for a few months now. So much so, that I'm prob going to sell most of the vapes in my signature (except the EQ for bags and digital temp selection, and the Vaponic which is still my tastiest vape). Everything else is going I think, so if anyone (particularly uk people, coz that's where I'm at) is interested in any of them hit me up and we'll see what we can do.

I needed to come back here to say just how surprised I've been to find that this vape works so well with flowers. I had never, ever used a butane vape that didn't drive me to insanity due to accidental combustion when I bought my omni!

I completely agree with What @herbivore says here, the Omnivap is just fantastic with flower. It is the vape I would recommend to people trying to convert from smoking joints or pipes, and is perfect for a new user because it can work with any draw technique by adjusting the airflow to cater for personal preference. I find almost all of my other vapes each require a specific way to draw on them for efficient vaping. The Omnivap cuts that out for me: if I want to draw on it like a cigarette I can close up the air I take, if I want to draw straight into my lungs like I'm sucking on a enano I can open up the air intake.

And plus the Omnivap is perfect for concentrates/hash too. For me, this is the vape I wish I had way back when I purchased the vapbong (the predecessor to the vaponic). I would have saved myself a tonne of money and import taxes/ shipping fees!

I love my Omnivap!! And the beautiful twist that PhatPiggie turned out for me!

Peace

Hey folks. I have a hugh hope that the vapcap will be able to help me manage my allergy symptoms more easily and be of far more use than a great vaporizer.

I started using quality essential oils to deal with excessive, abnormal lung congestion in 2009, and it changed my life. It was the first time I was able to make an impact and actually clear the mucus from my respiratory system.

I basically put 2 or 3 drops of peppermint oil onto my palm, rubbed my hands together, cupped both hands over my mouth and nose, and inhaled deeply. Then aftr a while I would repeat with rosemary or eucalyptus oil.
It brought massive relief every time. It still took a bit of energy and time, but no preparation or setup required, and could be done any place or time. I just neede to wash the oil off my hands afterwards.

I also began using the oils at the same time to do steam inhalations, by dropping them onto boiled water and inha, ing deeply with a towel over my head. This method is far more effective than the palm inhalation, but it is very cumbersome and takes more time and energy, and set up, preparation and clean up is a bind.

It also takes me away from anything else I am doing, like a time out. For example,I cant continue to watch a movie, relax to music, or browse FC while I do the steam.

So I only used to do the steam at certain times, like in the morning after heavy vaporizing. Then for the rest of the day, after meals etc when mucus is especially bad, I could just inhale oils from my hands for relief. It was so much more convenient, quick and easy than the whole steam inhalation routine.

However, in 2013 I developed major problems with my hands, thumbs, wrists and forearams due to infections in my nervois system and resulting injuries- tendonitis, repetitive strain knjury, and mild structural deformity.

Ever since those problems developed, I had to re-train the way i do everything with my hands to minimaise aggravation. For a few years I couldnt type at all. I can manage to better now, but am just very careful, which is why I make so many typos!

I had to completely stop juggling, which I used to love. And importantly, I could no longer do the essential oil inhalation from my hands. Just cupping my hands in that position massively flared up the problems in my hands, right up my arms. It was really crippling.

So I had to adapt. The only way, ever since, that I have managed to cope with the excessive mucus, is to do steam inhalations every time I need the essential oil inhalation, like after every meal, and every time I vaporize, when I could have just inhaled oils from my hands before the injuries.

The steam is way more efective and the ultimate method to clear the lungs of congestion. But it takes at least 40 minutes with preparation and clean up, and is thoroughly unenjoyable and exhausting, not to mention incredibly painful. I just dread it, every time I eat food now, or vaporize, I know as soon as I am finished, I must tear myself away from where I am, go and set it up in another room, boil kettle, perform, and clear up.

Then I am free to do what I want, except the film I was watching is nearly over for example.
If I could just find another effective way of managing the symptoms with essential oils it would change my life. If I could inhale from my hands again, I could relax in one place and leisurely deal with it.

I have tried everything I can think of, like different vessels to inhale oils from etc. I do use an essential oil diffuser which I inhale directly from. It pumps oils i to the air. I dont use it plugged in, just filled with oils, I just inhale from the nozzle. It does help a lot, but not enough. Not a patch on the steam. And not even close to the palm inhalation method.

So here is my hope: I am wondering if I can use the vapcap to somehow inhale essential oils for relief?

I'm thinking maybe stuff the bowl with hemp fibre, and drop 3 drops of peppermint oil into it, then heat the cap very gently. Or something like that. I feel it may work. I did actually try the "smoke bubble" vaporizer once, cheap off of ebay, which is similar to the original Eagle Bill glass pipe, but in the shape of a lightbulb where you hold the flame undrneath to heat the herb. Conduction purely.

But I think I held the flame too close and burned the essential oils, it tasted wrong and caused big irritation. I still have it so I could try it again but keep the flame much lower. Just a case of "once bitten, twice shy".

But I seriously wonder if the vapcap would work hee as I suggest with the hemp fiber. The steam is so much more effective than palm inhalations for a few reasons. The steam itself helps a lot, it also carries the oils into the lungs, but essentially, it is the heating of the oils that is a big factor too.

I also wondered about the pyrovap. I dont actually know how it works yet. I dont expect to use it for cannabis oils any time forseeable, and I certianly wont ever contemplate e-juice.
I need to be able to use small amounts of essential oil effectively each time, like 2 or 3 drop doses of each.

I will certainly ask George himself about this, but I just wondered if anybody here has any thoughts on this first? A very big thank you to all who have read this.

I am surprised that your Dr's haven't given you a nebulizer with appropriate medications for your obstructed breathing.

In medicine, a nebuliser or nebulizer (see spelling differences) is a drug delivery device used to administer medication in the form of a mist inhaled into the lungs. Nebulizers are commonly used for the treatment of cystic fibrosis, asthma, COPD and other respiratory diseases or disorders.

You can get a good nebulizer on eBay for not a lot of $. I personally only use essential oils externally, no matter what brand. I know some of them say you can take them internally, but there have been some serious side effects reported. They are really powerful.

Doctors have been strictly no help at all, I steer well clear of them, except for help with support for sickness benefit. I also simply could not tolerate any medication at all, I react to practically everything which makes the mucus even worse. And besides all this, I am actual,y pretty healthy. If I was on medication, health would deteriorate, the price of symptom suppression, the name of the game with allopathic medicine, rather than even attempting to get to the root of it all.
That said, I am sure there are instances when medicine saves lives and may be the only option.
But I am working towards wellness and aiming to restore balance and harmony in my body, and am a believer in nature all the way. I just react to almost evrything natural that could help me as well, a rock and a hard place so to speak. Its complicated, but I know I am doing everything right, just a very hard task at hand taking enormous determination.

Oh yeah, I do actually have a nebuliser, I tried it with saline, and colloidal silver and some other common substances, but reacted badly every single time, it just made things worse.
