As a guitarist, Tosin Abasi absolutely blows my mind.

Yeah, pretty clever stuff there. I never heard Animals as Leaders. I thought I had, and thought I didn't like them, but i thought they had a screamy vocalist and now i read they're instrumental. May have to check some out now. It's all a little overproduced when the drums kick in, but musically excellent.
you know Dysrhythmia? very different sound but similar progressive nature, the guitarist is one of the best around but not in any traditional shreddy sense, really forward thinking… although this track doesn't show it off.

Wow this is the first I am ever hearing of this band and those time signatures are driving me nuts! They have a totally unique sound that is right up my alley, I'm a fan of strange music in general and this certainly fits the bill. Also worth mentioning, that drummer is awesome, great sound as well.

Thanks for expanding my musical collection, I'll be checking out their other stuff for sure.

Thank you as well. Dysrhythmia are great, and very unique. Just a three piece but all masters, the drummer is nuts.
If you like that kind of stuff then also try Cleric, they do some of the most interesting metal i ever heard. and Behold… the Arctopus have one of the Dysrhythmia guys playing a 12 string Warr guitar, but much more demented and extreme, their new album is very different from the old stuff.
Also, a bit random but if you like weird with complex timings, check out some old Univers Zero. It's like dark proggy chamber music, bassoons, oboes, harmoniums and things with some "rock" instruments. some of the composition is insane. Heresie is a mind blower, but pretty slow and dark.
Enjoy, I'm going to find some Animals as Leaders.

I'm pumped. Steven Wilson just announced his US tour dates, and the show I'll be going to falls on 4/20. Fantastic. Not a show to be missed. You'll have to excuse me, bit of a fanboy…

This is a track written for his yet to be released third solo album, performed live in Mexico City. Gorgeous in HD.

For anyone who thinks they like heavy. A slow build through creeping ambience, dark atmospherics and the heaviest music ever recorded (if you listen at even a fraction of the volume that this was played at.).
This is a great one for deep relaxation, goes nicely with absinthe. and it's a good kind of darkness. Turn it up loud and bassy for a full body massage!
These guys are doing some improvised shows in London, April 13th/14th.
Anyone who likes experimental music should check them out.

    Love this intro :

It gives the song a bit more content, should always be played completely IMO.;)
Had it on a cassettetape way,way back so can render it 'perfectly'.:p
Also rediscovered this on youtube not too long age, took me right back and had me order the CD pronto.

This was 3am on 12/12/12. It is kind of chilling but I just found it and have been enjoying it muchly in my vaped state, sounds very mystical. I'm quite proud of all the opening synth work, but I messed up the first guitar section. Still, please listen and let me know if you like any of it. It was just some improv with a looper.
