Yep, looks like a pretty (and a bit smaller) version of a kluge I built a while back and posted a photo of not long ago:
While ugly, this thing works amazingly well and is very easy to 'palm', not that I have much need of that feature really. After the photo I covered the shiny metal parts with tan colored tape (after trying flesh colored band aids with some sucess), now it's even harder to see. And it screams with the oil I have in it's 1.5 Ohm cart, getting a fast, fat hit is not a problem....
It's a pretty obvious idea for making the package shorter.
I agree, 10440s aren't going to keep the serious user happy for very long at all.
