@killick my awesome retired doctor neighbor is my best friend I've met since moving here. He and I don't have shit to do but walk dogs in the woods. He's taught me how to hunt mushrooms and dig for razor clams on the mud flats on the coast. He certainly makes up for the fact that my asshole neighbor at the bottom of the hill is willing to allow her dogs to kill me.

Before we moved, I was an educator at a science museum. We had one of the very last analog film IMAX theaters, and what I believe to be the last analog domed theater on earth (It's truly an inferior design that ruins the edges of the films, although it looks freaking cool as hell). I recall one day I saw that the entire Star Trek Into Darkness on 70mm IMAX film was literally tossed in the dumpster in the alley. It very well might have been the only film print made of that movie and IMAX instructed us to dispose of it. I've got a few cells I was able to steal of the Enterprise going into warp and also what I assume is the Spock and Kirk death scene between the glass wall. (I admit I didn't see the movie even though I am a huge sci-fi fan). They were going to shut down the theater for seating remodel when I became disabled and had to resign my position. So maybe I can call a local theater, talk to the manager, and come in to see what I need to bring to make myself comfortable because this is the only movie I've wanted to see in IMAX in years, and I've seen everything that ever came through our museum fifty times! Ha!

@ChippyMalone Meeting great neighbours is truly one of lifes best things!

I remember the science centre in Calgary (been closed for ever now). It had a domes roof for planetarium nights, and in the early 80s they would run things like Pink Floyd: The Wall, and other trippy films. A great way to spend an evening people watching!

Our last home was truly a great place for us, the problem being we were in the most expensive areas outside of one of the more expensive cities, and property taxes alone take a good chunk out of income, which isn't bad when you are in that bracket. I've been in therapy through VAC, at one time they had me scheduled for 8 days/week of sessions, and in the end they put me on a program that at least keeps us in groceries and such. So we sold the big expensive house and are looking for where we are gonna settle. Not unlike you we decided to go to where the attitudes to MMJ were more friendly in British Columbia - home of Vansterdam. I was at a retirement party for a friend in one of the small mountain towns (above Spokane) last fall. It was held in the local legion (a type of VFW hall). When the award presentation was over, everyone had a couple of drinks, then the band started, so everyone went outside to the smoking area. Probably 60 people, ranging from 17 to 75. And most everyone was smoking - either ciggies or joints. Everyone. This was a federal police retirement party. I was kinda startled, but 'just act normally and everything will be fine' got me through some weird patches back in the mob. And it was a great evening, and everyone was just so happy and smiley after the first 'smoke break' (but no beer outside, just weed :)

Now we are renting a house, about 45 minutes north of Oroville, WA, and looking for our next forever home. One nice thing that the BC Government has done is charge a different rate for property taxes for vets. We pay 50% of the annual property tax bill to age 65, when it rolls into the 'retired' category for payment. So the province has the right appeal for us, now we just need to find a house. Our rent is up on May 31!

@killick thanks for sharing your great story. I'm amazed at how many of us tell such stories. I pretty much used high tech mapping data to determine locations for our home with a whole range of specific personal wants/needs. Like being zoned in a county not city, but close to mmj friendly cities. Of course I also know we got lucky because my wife flew out here with one single day to view and choose our home. I renovated a home from my hospital bed 2500 miles away with nothing but cell phone picrures, a checkbook, and a whole Lotta faith the copper was not being harvested from the wiring and plumbing.

Jah works in mysterious ways, because a year ago I hadn't possessed cannabis in over a decade, and now it is a majoir part of my good quality of life. One thing you mentioned is how strange it feels to use cannabis as part of our local culture rather than counterculture. I still often feel like I've entered the first room in the chocolate factory and cannot believe it is real.

@ChippyMalone FC 187?

Anyway, good morning all! I'm sorry you have to darken Walmart ever, CM... but good on you for teaching them some manners!

I woke up at 5:30 with too much pain to contemplate driving to Tacoma... sorry... but we will be going to the Paulie G's market. Paulie G's, 527 Devoe Street Southeast, Olympia. Yeah, they are "closed" on Sunday... when the market is open! :) they do have their sandwich kitchen open, though.

@CarolKing would recognize a few of the growers, I'm sure, too. We're gonna shoot for around 2-ish for arrival at the market today, as we have a whole grocery shopping trip to coordinate today.

@Enchantre Nope, I bought it from one of our top DH sellers, but my lady seller does not use a number. But the other prominent sunny seller does use a number for the identical piece.

i wish I felt up to coming to the market, but I would have to drive today and 45 minutes each way to a place I've never been is just too far for my sore ass today. I hope everyone has fun and we can meet up some day in the future. I do have to go buy a few things locally today, but just a few dollars worth of edibles to get through the next few nights.

Vaping some more of those 28/29% THC strains from last week. The Super Dank is appropriately named.

@Enchantre please share your user info for Instagram. I have abandoned Facebook in favor of just posting my fun photos I take while creeping through the forest for my PT balance exercises.

They think I should pay $30 twice a week to do some basic stretches, stand on a plywood platform suspended by chains to improve my balance and walk up and down steps carrying a dumbbell to strengthen my core. Instead, I put on my boots and day pack full of naturalist gear, grab my cane and go hunting for photos of mushrooms and moss and ferns and shit like that. I'll carry two empty Rubbermaid Brute garbage cans up and down our 1000 foot common private drive so steep my other non disabled neighbors refuse to walk down it.

I think people see a pitiful broken man struggling to move his garbage cans up a ridiculous hill. What they don't realize is that the amount of effort, time, enerrgy, and pain i sacrifice doing this stuff is greater than I ever did as a serious outdoor adventure "athlete", and certainly much greater effort than doing something comparatively pretty easy like training for a marathon with a healthy young body.

So for this First 4:20 today, I had some Master Kush wax and some Mendo Purp flowers I got as a free sample. Wish I would have tried the sample first, but I'm happy and my wife's first alarm will go off in 20 minutes. She will be surprised that I planted the primrose container on the front porch this morning.

Good morning! I'm cronewynd on IG...

Yesterday morning we woke to a non-functioning heater. After trying a couple of things, we went and got a new one last evening. This morning, I moved it a bit, and tweaked my back a little. sigh.

NYSD to the rescue...

So my wife wants to see another movie. I kinda agree, so off we go. The Imitation Game she says. So, I go for tickets and she gets popcorn. I select the movie and put in my card 'card invalid' it says. I try again. And again. Then try another card. FFS. Machine must be broke. Go to next one, running short on time cause we left late, I hit the button for the movie, select one adult and one senior so I don't feel so dumb about putzing with the other machine for so long, get tix and go meet wife.

She looks at ticket and says 'theatre 13', so we go down that away, the kid rips the ticket stubs, and we get to 13... The Gambler... Was the movie I selected by accident. It was sorta ok, kinda like Barfly. Great music tho, including some great reggae covers of Pink Floyd. Will post them to the 'music to vape to, part 2' thread one day. Wife goes to the washroom, and I stay to see the band names (which I've already forgot). There is 1 person left in the theatre, so what the heck. I have my Inhalater in my pocket, so let's turn it on low. Wait - I ran this load on 3 before the movie. What's the diff between getting caught on 3, or on 8? 8 it is. See the band names, better go catch up with wife. Man there are a lot of people here! I better put the vape in my shirt pocket and find somewhere quieter! So out in the lobby isn't too bad, I can face toward the wall and no one will notice. What the heck - let's look around. Not 1 person noticed. Not even the young lady who stopped dead and started trying to balance one of the drinks she had on top of a bag of popcorn when I put vape back in pocket and went to her rescue. She was thanking me and going through some story, but all I could do was smell the vape in my pocket, wondering if it was getting damaged without adequate airflow... It's only been a minute or two, it's probably ok...

Umm, bump...

Edit - it's fine :)

PS - in regards to my 'vaping in the theatre' post above, after we left I started to think about the gravity of what I'd done. Yes, it was a bit arrogant and pushy, but every now and then these militant moods come over me. I'm a 52 year old vet with a couple of technical diplomas, am a journeyman Shipwright. have an undergrad, an MBA and a doctorate (in Metaphysics, only used to piss off a former coworker), and have been on disability for about 15 months now. I have a federal mmj license, and, by vaporizing am not smoking anything indoors.
Yes, it was kinda dumb. But ultimately I think it was, and should be, absolutely fine. Will I do it again? Maybe - depends on the circumstances. It likely fits well with the stylized anarchy tattoo on the left shoulder, from way back before the MBA :)

PS - bump :)

:lmao:^^Actually sounds kinda fun.

I was slowly working toward a Th.D. (lost most personal faith along the way) but found it would only serve me to debate with others who believe they have the exclusive keys for the 'sole path of truth' and the rest of us or the billions of people past who never heard of their "one true faith system" are just kind of fucked when it comes to spiritual understanding and all they believe comes with it.

Funny, but a bunch of years ago in a bar I met a guy who was working towards what he described as an advanced degree in 'theological debate', and he was expressing the view that no matter what team you play for you can't be completely objective if you follow a specific path as your path will cloud anything you hear. My point was that if you don't follow any specific team your interest in theological debate would be too low to measure. But that was a long time ago, in a bar, on the East coast... Maybe it was you? Did you spend many nights in dark bars in Halifax?

Music is about as close to anything 'religious' as I get, so I'll apologize in advance if I'm a bit too flip about (insert brand here) for any of our more radical viewers...
The The - Armageddon Days

I was working in an office in SoCal for a few years, One of our team of 'IT Superstars' was taking every course he could find from IT companies (Oracle, SAP, Cisco, etc) and plastering his cubicle wall with all these certificates of attendance. A couple of us started looking for certificates we could hang up. A pair of the faves were a Ph. D. in Metaphysics, followed by the 'ordained minister' plaque, making me (and a few others) change our sigfiles to read something like
"The Reverend Doctor Killick, BS.C., RETech, MBA, PITA, AMFYOYO" and anything else we could cobble together, thereby either pissing off or amusing everyone else in the office... Good times :)

PS - in keeping with the thread, I've been exclusively using a portable vape for the past 13 days. I came home last night to a new shipment of meds in the mail, and have been pre-heating the Heat Island since early morning. I forgot how lovely a HI with glass roasting tubes can be! The poor dog wants to go for another walk, but I can't find enough extension cord, and the portable never got recharged last night. Sorry pup - we will go walkies in a bit, but I need to finish something first...
