Best way to vape pollen?

I was just wondering if anyone has an opinion about vamping pollen, and maybe the best ways to do so.

I love the taste/effect pollen/kief gives me in a vape....

I typically just intermix loose in with ground bud, or sandwich a finger pressed flat disc of it between ground bud in my chamber. Lately I've been using a hand crank puck press to make thin discs (pressed HARD with a bit of heat), then broken up like hash and mix in with ground bud.

That's pretty much me as well. Usually just load a thin bed of flower on the screen side and again on top so the heater doesn't scorch it. I think I prefer the loose/unpressed pollen actually - though I do press about half of what I get back from the catch. It vapes away faster but I feel like the hits are more dense with the loose.

I have had great success vaping hard pollens straight up in my DBV. While I've never hit an extreme I've always heard they hit similarly to a dbv with the whip setting. I massively prefer vaping the hash straight. The pollen cooks more slowly then the bud so you've got the overcooked bud in with the hash. I used to put a 0.5g lump of hard old school pollen in the dabuddha and just taking a hit to warm it. Then I'd stir and break it up. The sheer overwhelming hashyness the next hit was surreal. From then on it was endless thick hits for longer than I could take them.
I seriously love pollen when I can get it, it vapes up so much better than it smokes.

Yea, The MFLB is great for straight keif even with the stock batteries. Put in like .05 of kief and take it in one rip, its very effective if your not trying to be stealthy.

Also am I the only one that gets bugged a bit when i see the word pollen for kief? A lot of people I know call it crystal.

Pollen is just head shop jargon for kief around here. Its all the same. But crystal? I'd never refer to weed with something that could be confused for meth.

@op What type of vape do you have? Sandwich it between flowers in your chamber?

inhalator works great for keif/pollen. i just fill the entire cartridge up with keif and puff away.

also i do a shit ton of baking almost always using keif/pollen. the biggest thing for me is knowing the % of thc in the keif. that way i can figure out how much to use. generally if the keif is around 30-40% i will use 2 gram keif per dozen edibles.

Yea, thats why I normally say kief, as I've heard the word actually means pleasure. crystal sounds like meth, and pollen is just wrong (even though its just slang). But I beleive they call it crystal because I have heard people refer to buds as "crystally".

And ODS, how do you find the thc % of your kief? I can determine the purity with a microscope but no more than that.

His THC % would be coming from California medical marijuana testing companies :/

I don't think anyone says "crystal" for kief, but rather the plural of the word "crystals". If someone's talking about meth, they definitely wouldn't say crystals, they'd say crystal.

I honestly didn't know dispensaries sold straight kief, thought they only sold the stronger concentrates like bubble hash and bho. And I agree, crystals sounds right, but around here I do hear people always saying singular.
I love vapin a bowl with lots of kief it just makes the vapor quality amazing

SD_haze is correct it gets tested through a testing facility.
with a small amount of product it is not cost effective to test since it runs anywhere from $60 -$150 depending on who you know what you are having tested.

we have our butter, keif and bubble hash tested.
last tests were
56% thc per gram with bubble hash. super gooey sour diesel so gooey it's dab'able.
41% thc per gram with keif. very whiteish yellow pressed into hash in your hand.
9000 mg thc per cup of butter. black and nasty looking. hard to say it's even butter.

edibles start at 35mg thc up to 150mg thc per edible.

been wondering how well that would work. what is the ID of the INH capsules? one could make a small OD pollen press and could press small "loads" that would fit perfectly into the INH capsule...

the only problem i could see is if the keif is too pressed the air will never make through and pass along the side. i will say that keif tastes great in the inhalator.

i scooped up a tiny it of keif in my DaVinci V2's empty metal can and all i can say is damn... it was just like .01 or .02 for a tester ... it was like nothin at all and it lasted almost as long as a full bowl... the only other vape i have is the Plenty by Storz and Bickel and im not sure how to vape kief in that but im gonna find out... one of my friends said i could wrap the kief in a coffey filter and vape it that way but that has me a little suspisious putting precious kief in a piece of paper then heating it ...... any thoughts

I would be iffy about the coffee filter, but I really dont know. Ive never seen a Plenty before, but I do know that with most vapes its best to have a layer of herb or abv as a medium.

i too would skip the coffee filter, what about using the attachment for oil? it looks like you could sprinkle the keif on it. at least from the photos it looks like that might work.

The attachment for oil is a metalish filler that resembles a pressed brillo pad so prolly not good 4 kief. I'll probably just vape the kief in the davinci can because that worked pretty good... quick question tho what do u guys feel the best way to press my kief. I saw on YouTube a few different ways like put it in a wax paper pouch fold and iron, another guy put it in a PVC piece with nickels on both sides of the kief and hammered it like a cheap pollen press, another guy put it in a baggie and heated a butter knife for a few seconds then presses it into a little hash block. My question is it better to press kief into hash with or without heat

I like to put my pollen on top of my regular bowl in the da buddha ( or on top of a elbow pack in the EQ). I then take my poker and make sure its broken up over the top not in a solid flat disk to avoid burning. I then vape it till it turns darker before stirring it in and finishing the bowl.

I feel like when I mix it in and vape that way it clogs my screen a lot quicker. (vaping pollen will clog your screen regardless)

With the eq you can avoid the messy screen if you load a bowl in the cyclone topped with keif in the same manner and blow a few bags up. This also works well with bubble and produces some thick bags.

MidwestBeast, heat will degrade some of the thc but probably not to a noticeable amount. Is there a reason you need to press it? Traditionally the only reason to press is so its more compact for shipping and much easier to handle in large amounts. It is much more efficient to vape in loose form and easily combusts when pressed in my experience.

+1. I mean really? Pollen? That just sounds so idiotic IMO to be frank. Are we going to start calling leafs, trichomes now too? or pistils, stems? We cannabis users are not stupid, we shouldn't invite people to call us that by calling something, something not even close to what it really is . And kief just sounds so much better anyway.

On topic: Kief in the cloud is absolutely amazing, and the two-cap method has given me the best results. It vapes it all very evenly and cleanly, and I enjoy how it comes out as a brown disc once your finished .

I've used a PD to vape kief as well, and I just pulled some herb, then topped it with kief. It worked pretty well.

I feel pollen is a pretty accurate description. Its much easier to toss around in conversations and texts for a paranoid caregiver such as myself. Different folks different strokes, If we all agreed we would still be smoking entire cannabis plants out of coconut bongs.
