Beer, on its own and combined with Cannabis

I've seen a few other threads related to beer and cannabis, but I wanted to make a more focused thread.

Any of you guys like to mix your beer with cannabis? The other night I vaped a bowl of hash and drank a few beers and felt great. It made me think twice about alcohol it one of its less potent beverages. I like the feeling of a nice beer buzz.

What about beer on its own? Does anybody know of some good quality, small breweries that have easily obtainable, strong beers?

I combine beer and cannabis nightly. It's just part of my daily routine.

I don't understand your question about strong beers, though. Do you want to drink less beer to acheive inebriatory effects? Or are you just looking for some good microbrew?

i think he might be talking about beer that has higher alcohol content than the typical beer you see at the supermarket?.. (prob around 8-12% alcohol) most of which are an IPA/stout/porter variety so you definitely have to be a real seasoned beer fan to appreciate (in other words they are usually on the bitter side). i usually drink these beers when at a brewery or specialty bar, otherwise they are somewhat hard to find. the last of this type that i have drank was 11.5% Double Dog by Flying Dog Ales from denver/maryland.. very good!.. and strong. i recommend checking out their brand. they have more than a few high-alcohol-content beers. i love that their labels feature art by ralph steadman (known for his artwork in hunter s thompson projects). flyingdogalesdotcom

I don't drink too much, but when I do... I prefer to vape and drink!

But on a serious note weed and alcohol is very fun together. I've noticed a lot of people cannot handle the combination though.

In most of my experiences, combining cannabis and beer was always a bad idea. (Especially when I was younger and drank to get drunk) Sick city - just add cannabis. Either or and I was fine.

Back when I used to brew, I didnt care much for mixing them as it made me too loopy/goofy.
Nowdays its no longer a choice - I vape only :D

Alcohol + Cannabis = buzz multiplier. People who are not well grounded mentally should not apply. I too cannot tolerate alcohol any more either. Too many meds (pills) and just too sick, alcohol screws with all my meds and my metabolism where cannabis does not.

Beer is a great. I find that heavily hopped beers tend to enhance the canna high a little bit more than less hoppy beers. Without beer and other fermented beverages, human civilization as we know it would of been impossible to achieve.

I also espouse the opinion that you should buy real, microbrewed and authentic beer, or just not buy it at all.

I don't know what area you're in but I quite like Lagunitas beers, and some of their stronger ones are still approachable because their brews err on the sweeter side of things when compared to others from the same area.

Charlie you are CORRECT! The particular terpeniod is called ?-myrcene. It has been proven to potentiate cannabinoids and is also found in mangoes. I love science. :science:

?-myrcene
Boiling point: 166-168*C / 330.8-334.4 degree Fahrenheit
Properties: Analgesic. Anti-inflammatory, Antibiotic, Antimutagenic

What are the best type of beers to just get from a store, that are good quality? I like dark beers mainly, hoppy is good. Currently I'm just buying stuff at Trader Joes like Stockyard Oatmeal Stout, Black Toad, and a few other good ones.

Being young I'm not too experienced with beer yet so how are these compared to a real microbrew or whatever? I'm not talking cans, glass bottles but still I don't know the ingredients or where half these beers come from, so what are the best in store brands to look for? I'm in Cali

:peace:

If you are looking for a high octane rating (alcohol content) I believe Sam Adams is making someting called "Infinium" now. Its supposed to be like a champagne beer. They also make "Utopias" which is naturally fermented to like 40 proof! Strong for beer eh? Stick with quality crafted brews and you guys will be fine. Have fun, the variety is awesome! My personal favorite used to be a "Porter". Dark, sweet, roasty . . . yum.

Highly recommend the Sierra Nevada Porter.

Not a big fan of their stout, a bit too much coffee flavoring.

For high content of hops look for craft/micro brewery IPA and Double IPAs. Some of these can be so "hoppy" that the bitterness is an acquired taste. Not hard to acquire though :D

My favorite beers are made by dogfish head. The entire lineup is delicious though for hop heads the 60 minute is outstanding and the 90 minute will sit you down with a hoppy malty punch in the face.

I like a delicious cold beer at the bar while vaping, I like beer less at home. it's still delicious, but beer makes me too sleepy, I discovered a pattern after I got an eightpack guiness for my birthday, everytime I drank one at night while watching tv and vaping I would fall asleep(tv still on, in my chair) a few hours later.

btw, those 10-12% beers are available at about any supermarket around here...

When you say coffee flavoring you mean natural tones/hints of flavor, correct? Do breweries mix in coffee beans/pumpkin/etc. into their batches or do they coincidentally taste like this? Basically, are certain flavors intended, and if so, how do they go about it?

For taste, I'm a huge fan of Hefeweizen brews... to me there is just nothing like a foggy wheat beer. Now they tend to be more filling, but the flavor is phenomenal! I recently got a brew kit for my birthday and am stoked to try my hand at that... I really enjoy cannabis and beer paired, now I'll be drinking and vaping my own and that's a good feeling.

Sierra Nevada always uses some unusual and unique flavorings so its definitely intentional.

Their Porter has a much more chocolatey taste than the stout but still has a little coffee flavoring from the malts.

I brew my own at home - work part time in a shop that sells brewing equipment. I tend to brew real ales, flat and bitter - beautiful ;)

In some beers aromatics are added. In Belgium Abbey beers, like Leffe, coriander seeds and angelica are used in the brewing process to add unique flavours. A beer that has a nice coffee/chocolatey flavour may have flavouring like caramel added, but a good one won't and will rely on the blend of hops and the level of roasting the malt gets.

An American beer I quite like for it's fuller flavour is Brooklyn Beer. I know it's pretty main stream, but still not too bad and better then a Stella any day!

One thing I will say about mixing beer and mj. Always approach with caution. Know your limits and stick to them. Don't encourage others to join you, let it be their own decision, as your tolerance is probably much higher if you mix the two regularly.

Aside from that, enjoy :)
