Nice pics JD. Thanks for posting them here. Yours is from the 40 year stored wood. They rip in the perfect range right out of the box. Something about setting on a shelf somewhere for 40 years that mellows you. If you are a chunk of wood that is. I think there is another eye in that piece, BTW.
LEDs are tough some times. On yours, I split two unique sides that also had a line through the middle for the led. Sometimes I hit the main looker right in the middle with the glow bug.
Yup, feeling good. Saturday afternoon. Many orders out, some big, some small. All have been notified we shipped. All with USPS tracking. I love how JD followed his package to a few blocks away. USPS never used to do that.
Saturday afternoon. Grandkids gone for the weekend, normally always here. Orders out. Pigs fed.(now they need to be fed 4-5 times a day and they get good beer in their mash). Rainy day. Lots of goodies to drink and vape. My honey(46 years) relaxed on the couch. Fun day. TCM, Encore westerns. The good old days.
Thanks all. And please, anybody with any problem, Email us besides posting here for help.
Thanks mom for saving me some repetition on problem diagnosis.

I didn't get one but I used a friends and it did heat up. I guess this means my adapter is broken? I don't see why it would though, it is only a month and a half old...

Dan, did you shoot Rick an Email?

Sometimes electrical equipment can break before it should. There could have been stress on the wire or it could have just not been a good adaptor to begin with. Get with Rick regarding a replacement.

Send us an Email and we will send you another transformer. I have no clue who you are from this forum. Even though most likely the wire is broke, we will send you a new transformer. The transformer is still good but needs a new plug wired into the end of the cord, about 6 inches from the current plug. Keep that in mind if you run into a solder person. The plugs( 5.5 x 2.1 mm female) are available at Radio Shack in two packs I believe.

In good light/sunlight, you can move the Zap around a bit and it will move. The ripples take on a different form at different angles.

I love your posts. Thanks for contributing to our thread.

Saw you mention that you sometimes have to knock your stuff out of your stems halfway to get the most out of them...

Even if your stuff is top shelf sticky, it should still be able to be dried out for better zappin. Try letting it dry out before grinding and using. I sometimes just leave my mason jar lid off for a few hours or more depending on your needs. Should do the trick as long as you're not living in a rainforest or somewhere of similar humidity.

I haven't had to knock mine out and reuse as you mentioned...the key it seems is the drying. I don't load my stems too tightly either...as long as the stuff is dry and not overstuffed, you should be fine. Enjoy the new zap!

I don't dry my herb. I use it fresh out of the freezer and I have no need to crush and reuse. I have tried it after hearing of others doing so, but the amount of vapor is negligible at best. The stem contents are a dark brown when I'm done. The only difference I've noticed between drying and not is a considerable loss of flavor, in my opinion, when the herb is dry.

Had my zap for a month or so now and am really lovin' it. Last night, I used the 13.5v for some thicker vapor for about a half hour, and I noticed when I went to hit my zap, it was as if there was a vacuum or something when I seal my lips around the stem, as if air is being forced into my mouth...

It made it difficult to hit to say the least. I unplugged the unit and went to bed, and tried again today with the 12v and it seems to still be doing the same thing. A massive difference when I try to hit it. I can still get vapor, but hitting the thing feels way different, and it's impossible to do a long, slow draw. More like the air is forced into my mouth once I seal my lips.

Thoughts? I love my zap, don't want anything to be screwy!

Cheers,
mudstar

As I sit here rereading my last post, I've been experimenting, and, rest assured, despite it feeling much different when I hit it, it certainly seems to be doing the trick. Since I'm still receiving the positive benefits, I'm just hoping that this isn't something to be concerned with in the long term. Just feeling so much different when I hit the thing...strange.

Wow there is some nice Zap pics back a page or two, Rick has gotten some sweet woods to work with, I appreciate the plug you left for me Rick, I did get a box of Ausie burls from Rick the other day, ooooo they will make some sweet tubes soon, I got alot I have been putting back for a while now as far as burls and other rare and unique woods, so in the next few weeks I should have quite a few new flavors as well as quite a bit of stock in all those too.

Got my hands on a plank of Gator Skin/Afzelia Burl, my guy says its the rarest of the rare in that species, he says hes been doing this for years and runs into the Gator Skin bout 1 in 1000 trees, its super rare and wow its so beautiful! It will surely make some amazing dugouts.

Hey Rick, I recieved my zap on monday and everything is working great. This zap seems even better than my first one! I just have one small concern... I'm not sure exactly when, but sometime in last couple days two small cracks have formed. One is two lines forming a tshape the other is just straight line. Each line is about an inch long, I'm wondering if this is something I should be concerned about...it appears to be working just fine as far as I can tell.

a bag of it, firstly let me say that I love your user name!
The best way to reach Rick is to email him directly. He might not check the forum daily.

mudstar, I think what has happened is that you've just changed your stem pack. Different stem packs can make for different draws.

Email me for sure on the crack. Have not had that happen in a long while. We will make it better than good.
Getting a little behind here the last few days. Still much fall close up work going on here that is zapping time here and there from Zapville and the order train keeps coming in. A bunch more going out today that will be notified later this afternoon of shipping. We are still running close to a week from order date to order received but have slipped a day or two past that this last week.
Should all be mellowing soon as all we will be able to do is keep warm and plow snow so Zapville will get more attention.
Thanks again for all the support. We will do our best to keep you all happy.

Took some time today to clean some stems and had a chance to use my screen replacement kit. The stem that needed a screen replaced was really gummed up and the little clip appeared to be rusting. Getting them out is really easy. There was quite a bit of gunk built up on the sides of the stem close to the screen area that wasn't getting cleaned out by normal ISO cleaning. After I thoroughly cleaned out the stem, I put the new screen in. Piece of cake with the tool Rick provides. The stem is as good as new.

Great little kit and good instructions Rick.

Yes, I'm thinking it had to be user error of some sort that was making my draw feel strange...All seems remedied now! Loving it. Sunday, Halloween, day off, scary movies, myrtlezap...doesn't get much better.

Happy Halloween, all!

Hey Rick, just had to register with this forum to thank you, and publicly profess my love for this vape. Wow,
it far surpasses what I ever thought could be achieved in terms of efficiency, and I was happily surprised at the thick, rich lung bustin' hits that it provides! I've had it for a couple months now and it seems like it's gotten even better....

Thanks for the comments on your Zap experience. That kind of stuff keeps us going with a smile which is the only way to work. Seems we are always smiling when we work these days.

Glad to hear you have found the log vape flow. When we bought out first Eterra, we got frustrated early in the process but after trying again and again, we hit the sweet spot. Even a little different than riding a bike because you can make these things function again and again but not at their peak efficiency. Kinda like riding a bike down the road at an 80 degree angle rather than straight up. Then one day you tweak the stem tip pack or the draw and wala! Thicker bigger clouds, as much as you want.

a bag of it did send a pic of his unit. It is a highly figured piece with grain swirls. Sometimes they will get a small surface crack because the wood must give somewhere with the heat and the grain going everywhere. We will keep an eye on it to be sure it has stopped. Those can be smoothed over with a little wood filler and sandpaper after sanding down to bare wood around the crack. Or he can get another if he is not happy with it as it is.

Last Thursday/Friday we had quite a bit of action here in Zapville. Just want to let you all know that some of those orders will land tomorrow(Friday, a day longer than our week expected delivery) and some will land Saturday. Some will not get there until Monday. After this week is over we will be back on track for a week or better delivery time. Lots of things all came at once this last two weeks around here, kind of like a big batch of sausage. Funny thing is, we are wrapping it all up making lots of different sausage, much smoked in our own smoker. Never too late to learn new things.

The walnuts are getting much rave behind the scenes. Every time I pop one, I am always amazed at the grain and colors in the wood. I did get about two blocks that were a bit denser than I like for Zaps so we are using them for stem holders. Much of it very dark stuff. Bob, a recent addition to our wood suppliers is quite the character. I'd bet there is an incredible story about his life. We found him buying some half priced steel roofing remnants that he also sells. He is not even yet officially "open" for selling wood.
Rambling a bit. Our satellite internet connection was down yesterday for awhile. Now that was something I lost a little sleep over. One of the most important flows that is always working and I have absolutely no clue how to fix if it stops.

Boy did I blow it. I got several orders ready to go late yesterday with only a small wrap up this morning then off for a town day. A day or two late on some and on time for others.
Totally spaced the mail holiday today. For some reason I thought most of them were taken on the weekends.
So a bunch of orders that were due to arrive Saturday will not get there til Monday. Send me an Email for info on a specific order if you are curious.
Week after week we try to keep some kind of schedule and Thursday is always our last big push for the week as those orders will arrive on Saturday. Not this week and it was a big one.
My apologies to all who expected a Zap arrival late this week. My bad for sure. Lots of things to plan around with a business that must ship every order. You would think I would have those mail holidays etched in my brain by now................................................

Quite frankly Rick, your delivery time from order is nothing to complain about, even if you are a day or two late. I know it's hard for those who are excitedly waiting, but a one week(ish) turn around is something to take pride in.

On another note (not to derail), the reason that Veteran's Day is not celebrated on a Monday is that it hasn't really been declared a national holiday; something I think is wrong. We have Memorial Day for our fallen vets which is a day off for schools, etc., but not a day off for the ones that are still alive. Shame on us. If you're going to do it for one, it should be for the other too, especially since they are the ones still here to appreciate it.

Well, for what its worth - I too am working today (by choice) not only to get some much needed work done and because noone is here today. But also to honor my fellow brothers and sisters who still don the uniform that helps keep our great nation safe.

And as for you Rick...

Kids are off school here in the Porltand area. Everything I can find says it is a federal holiday (technically speaking, we don't have national holidays).

Either way, we should all write our elected officials for a Constitutional amendment allowing Zap deliveries to go through no matter the day.

I realized, after I did a little search, that I was incorrect in saying that it isn't a national holiday. It just isn't observed in the same way that Memorial Day (or Martin Luther King Day for that matter) is observed. We don't have a day off schools here, although mail is held.

But, so as not to derail this further......I agree with the amendment for Zap orders. After all, it is priority mail. Plus, I betcha a few veterans might want their Zaps!

Whats up ppl. I am new to the forum and just ordered a myrtle zap, light colored wood from Rick. This will be my first time to vape so if u guys or girls have any advice, shoot It my way. Also cant wait to try out the beautiful custom made tubes that Ed sales. :peace:

Welcome to the forum Panic. I think you've made a good choice for your first vape. My first suggestion would be to read up a little on this thread. There are a lot of tips and tricks for you here. If you have any questions, give us a holler. I've got some of Ed's tubes and they are great, as are Rick's glass stems. The stock stems work just fine too, if that's what you ordered.

Post a pic of your new vape when it comes. We love our Zap porn around here. ;)
