Haha I thought the stem was janky, and then you pulled out the glass :ko:

Is that the gridded donut? Milky hit, how packed was it? :science:

Haha the stem is a bit janky, but it is flame polished so no broken bits of glass can be in the air path and I have silicone added for heat protection. Ya it's a matrix knockoff you can buy locally where I live, works pretty good and is my go to tube. Nice and sturdy for any ash catcher or vape. I only loosely pack my bowls. Didn't weigh the exact amount. Givin the solo love today that's for sure. And with new batteries I can go a long time without charging.

Working on a super mini bowl set up using Ed's SS bowls . The bowl is only an 1/8 inch deep. Rippin it on 7 to see if I can fully extract the bowl

Edit: I realized why I stopped using the SS bowls. It just doesn't get as hot as the glass and never vapes as good. So I just turned it into an UD stem. Hittin a fine cigar :spliff::spliff:

So I decided to pick one up from eBay instead of Massdrop because I couldn't wait. The massdrop hype made me want to find a replacement from my lost Inhalater XP, and I love trying out new toys.

I'll be able to tell you guys if I do happen to receive the newest model from the bay.

Anyways, my main question to you guys is: What's a newbie guide to water filtration?

I found links showing $30 ashcatchers/percolators or whatever earlier in the thread, and I know PlanetVape sells Glass on Glass adapters. Now there's many sizes, like 14mm or 18mm etc. and I have no idea what is compatible with what.

Do I have to physically own a glass piece and measure it out?

I'm a huge newb in this category and would like to learn more about it if possible. Also, I seen some videos of really tiny water filtration devides for Vapes, and would prefer going that route as opposed to having something water pipe sized

PVHES Straight Turbo or Turbo Shorty and preferences?

Does anyone use the Gong to Vape and not connect to a bubbler? Thanks.

@KRnoS most glass now comes with either a 14 (14.4) or 18 (18.8, 19) mm scientific glass fitting. If you don't have any glass at all I would pick that first so you know what size gong you need. Be careful when shopping though because the cheapest glass will be soft glass and will usually have a 12mm downstem with a slide that seals with an o-ring instead of just the glass on glass fitting. If you happen to find a soft glass bong with a 15mm downstem, you can just use an o-ring on your stock solo stem, but that is a less common size.

Made some extra cash over the weekend so I decided to spend it at PV :) Picked up a bent PVHES, a carbed GonG, and the f-bomb! I was planning to order GonG and then the eBay PN WT but I figured I'd save a few bucks with the PV discount; damn thing was still close to a hundred bucks tho- all I can think of is whether or not it'll be worth it. Everyone seems to love the PN WT so I have high hopes!
And while I'm completely content with my stock stems I added the PVHES to see what all the hype is about AND to get free shipping! The suspense is already killing me...

Let me know how you compare the stock from the PVHES?
I have been using the stock ones for 2 years now and love them.
I modify the TIP's Like this mornings WAKE & VAKE!
The seal works amazing as well!

I'll definitely report back with my opinion on the pimp stems; I currently prefer the resisting flowing of the stock stems as I've grown used to it with my Zap (which is sadly starting to collect dust :(). But with the tightness in which I like to pack the bowls the extra air flow just may be a welcome surprise!

Im at work now and my Solo is out for delivery now. I can barely wait until I can get my paws on it and try it out for the first time

I've had mine for a couple weeks now and can't keep my paws off it :)

How do you like the PVHEGonG?
Haven't had the chance to test it out yet, looks very nice though! O-rings definitely made a huge difference in how the stems fit, gonna have to test that out a bit as well. At least I still have some goodie-hash left to test with, nothing like the bud you have though. :D

Edit: Just have to ask, might be a dumb question but oh well. :p
When you have an O-ring in, are you supposed to completely screw the top back on or just till the point where it all fits nicely? Screwing it all the way back on just doesn't seem like a good idea to me, but sometimes good ideas disguise themselves as bad ideas!

Don't over-tighten the lid with the o-ring installed. Just tighten until it gives resistance. You should be advised that your air flow will be hampered with the o-ring installed, so keep that in mind as well.

Thanks! That's what I thought made sense, but you never know. :p

Yeah, the airflow changed quite a bit and I fear that, especially with hash which I need to pack in cotton, it will be a bit too hard to toke from now. Gonna have to give it a try and see what I prefer I guess. :p

You can try cutting the o-ring to help with both airflow and fitting into the solo properly. I cut mine down so it fit while still closing the cap fully. In doing that I was sloppy and not straight with my cuts. In the end that was good because it gave me more airflow. In fact it gave me more choice with airflow because I was able to turn the gong and get more or less airflow depending on where the o-ring was relative to the stem.

Whoa. Solo went beyond what I expected it would function.

After lunch, The tracking info showed delivered. Knowing the package was waiting for me home floated in my head all day. Mondays, I play in a kickball team and I had a double-header tonight I was thrilled to play but meeting Solo had to wait.

Fooling around in the warm ups, I punted a kickball and popped my quads pretty good. I ended up hobbling the entire, switching to my left leg when i was up, but my leg was throbbing entire night! Have to remember I'm not 13 anymore, :D

Hobbled home,I ripped open my package and turned on te Solo to offgas and for the initial stem fittings. I hit it dry and the taste of plastic and new electronics choked me. Left it for few cycles then charged it. Grabbed some chinese left overs, iced my leg, took a shower and Solo was ready to go.

Loaded it up to the brim of stock tube- Inserted it in Solo, went up to 7. Wanted to see how it runs fully hot. Didn't get the draw speed for the first few draws so didn't get anything then bam! Got a full hit and blew out a massive cloud. i was coughing pretty good. Didn't expect the vapor production in this device.

I'm definitely looking forward to the PVHES in the mail. Convection is the way to go for me, I liked how instantly it stops producing vapor when I stop. Can't wait to give it a good run over the few weeks and see what this baby can handle.
