Herb Grinders

I think once you get to a certain $$ level with reputable grinder manufacturers quality is not a issue & all the big guns will leave you a happy customer. The challenge is to find a decent grinder cheap.

Being prone to taking a punt (why I own a SLX over a GR8TR) & the cosmic 4 piece does look interesting. I did find the point of difference I was looking for that would tip me over the edge....

Cosmic 4pc looks badass the best of both SC and SCS it seems. If I can find a good deal over the 4/20 sales I want to try the 4pce . I have no first hand experience but have only heard great things and should b in the same league as space case and Santa Cruz etc. They are one of the original space case guys who left and started his own brand.
ezvaporizers has a good sale right now. Good price for all grinders.

Question for all the heavy duty users out there

Do you ever try to completely fill the kief tray on your 4 piece grinders and if so how long roughly does it take you??
I'm personally starting to shy away from kief collection and looking for a 3 piece, but as far as what I have and use for an SCS goes, I only collect enough until it stops static-clinging to the bottom. If it's shaking around loose in the bottom, it's likely dusting as much back into the bud (mixing tastes as well) as it is collecting.

On a medium SCS 4 piece, while still seeing the color in the bottom but seeing a solid dust cover I can get over a gram of kief. This is after maybe an ounce of grinding? (I've got one of the older, tighter-screened SCS that don't collect as much, so your mileage may vary)

My thoughts are best collect it and put it in something sealed or at least humidity-controlled to preserve the heads rather than let them dry out and knock them around all the time. That allows me to clean the whole apparatus more often, as it aligns that I collect and clean at the same time. As mentioned, though, I'm looking to take the collect part out and just vape what I have when I had it in the first place ;)

Good luck on your investigative trial runs!

I did too! Lovin it right now!

I am curious what version you got. Was it an original design, or one of the newer ones with the multi-sized teeth pattern and the concave collector dish. Mine has the newer teeth design, the new collector, and the old fine screens.

Interesting.

After putting a bunch of material through my new one, the difference in grind consistency is minimal with new teeth but the new pattern may be slightly more fine.... not by much. The only real setback i see with the new teeth pattern is that it requires breaking material into slightly smaller pieces to fit into the cap.

Anyone have a tracking number for their GR8TR yet? Been two weeks now without an update.

Not yet, I've been eyeing this thread to see if someone had received it yet and was going to do a review of some sorts. I made my order on March 14 and still no tracking number. The funds have been taken, I checked my bank account. I just got a 1/2 oz and was hoping to use the new GR8TR for it, oh well, maybe next 1/2 oz? :(

Came to read about grinders; fucked combustion
Don't worry about it. I think the dude who runs EZVAPES (Jarod?) sometimes waits to order stock until after he knows how much he'll need, then tells everyone with a pending order that he just sold the last item and is waiting for new stock. It's a little annoying to me, but he seems like a good dude. (I've bought several grinders from EZVAPES.)

That's still a bit worrisome and a poor way to do business, especially when you advertise free priority shipping over 70 dollars. When I spoke on the phone with him two weeks ago he said it would be shipping last week. I haven't gotten any update, I was just wondering if anyone else had.

Saw an interesting grinder over in Amsterdam. I went back to buy one before coming home but the store was closed for Easter. I ordered one anyway. Hopefully Ill have it in a week or so.

Here's a video of it. Not really interested in it's "apple" capability but for storage and filling cones (Which I do partake in from time to time), it looks like a sweet piece.

Nope.

They said it would be a week till they received more. If I don't have a shipping notice or some sort of email by Friday I'm tempted to cancel my order and order straight from Kannastor. I can understand that with the sudden influx of orders that it would be back ordered for a bit. The part that bothers me is telling people that it'll be a week when it's going to be longer than that. It's just bad business to not let a paying customer know when there's going to be a delay and how long.

Edited.

Got my tracking number today!

Cant wait to finally take the GR8TR for a spin and compare it to my SCS.

Did you have to email them a reminder or did they just send out your tracking number.

They emailed an itemized receipt with review links next to each item, tracking number was at the bottom. I did not have to send a reminder.

Edited to add:
Just checked my tracking number and I should be getting my GR8TR on Saturday.

I emailed EZvapes asking for an update. I'll let everyone know what the news is if or when I get the email back.

I sent an update email to EZvapes after posting my earlier post, I just received my tracking number as a response, woooo-hoooo! :)

Got an email from the folks at Lift Innovations yesterday regarding the rebranding of the Clipper.

Here is what it will look like.

Looks like they won't be shipping until the end of this month. Was hoping to get it before 4/20 too! Very much looking forward to receiving mine!

I'm really tempted to design a grinder this weekend with AutoCAD. It's been a while since I've drafted but I have an idea for a design that only tears the material once and also gets a consistent grind. It would be a crank grinder with hardened stainless teeth, mono directional, tube shaped and will have a Gr 5 Ti chassis or a high strength Alu if I find one that isn't a health risk. It would be a bomb proof grinder that should out live you and just start to be wearing out when your child is getting old. I have no desire to produce another product that gets thrown away after 5 years because it's worn out or has broken, and thus contribute to the disposable culture that has infested modern society.

Should prove to be a good project. No idea if I'll try to manufacture.

 No Email for me. Perhaps it was too late in the day. For all I know it could arrive at my door in the next moment.

Not true, I've had a few of these over the years since I get them for free or $20 with a vape purchase. I think they are AMAZING crank grinders that yield a medium to coarse grind. Easiest on my wrists i've ever experienced, and rarely ever need cleaning. I've thrown nugs in there the density of rocks! Kannastor USED to make them, but stopped.... but I don't think they, nor ANY other manufacturer has the "screw on" threading that prevents it from spinning or awkward grinding. Once it's on, it's a few twirls of the crank, and you're good to go. Love it, but want the Gr8tr or SLX for a finer grind, but not sure if they will cause my wrists tendonitis like all the others have. I think i've written about this in this thread before too.

In that case I suggest the GR8TR as it is significantly taller than the SLX & that will allow a lot more leverage when it comes to grinding as it is twice as tall.

Like any grinder a quality crank handle grinder will perform better, longer than an el cheapo. Then again that goes for most things in life I spose.

Go for it @Winegums as I think with the right design & materials you could really tap into the aged care sector. Just thinking about my parents & their friends. If they used cannabis they would all go for a quality crank grinder for ease of use. You might lose the hard fought 3/4 piece market that is saturated with quality products & that is actually a smart move really. If you bring something different that will appeal to a different demographic with a unique selling point you will have a point of difference.

A hand cranked convertible 3 or 4 piece high quality grinder does have a place & people crying out for one (literally).
