I received my Ti Woody VapCap (in beautiful Cocobolo) as well as my DynaStash (in also-beautiful Paduak) on Christmas Eve, a few days before schedule- a happy surprise. I won't be able to use it again for awhile, but I figured I'd document my experience up to this point.

So far, I've used it exclusively with my Zippo, as it is the only lighter I have. I seem to get the best results when I hold it about 1/3-1/2 of the way up the flame, pack with coarsely-ground material, and pack loosely- no more than 75% full after tapping it a few times to settle the material. I always get 2 clicks for both informing me of sufficient temperature and informing me of cool down. My unit developed a crack on the first night, I want to say it was the 3rd load. That said, it is still completely functional, doesn't impede the function in any way, and unless something goes cataclysmically wrong, I won't be sending it back.

I do save my ABV, but as several of you have said, I agree that there likely isn't much point, as I vape the material several times (usually stirring after every cycle, which also helps the unit cool down- I pull the cap off and stick it to the DynaStash's magnet while I'm stirring to help speed cooling along a little.) and by the time I retrieve it, it is dark brown. I also concur with those who have reported clouds are absolutely not correlated with potency for the VapCap- the most potent loads I've ever had had no clouds, but I'm a cloud chaser so I've refined my technique to where I stay between the clicks for the first cycle or 2 for maximum potency, then I'll heat several seconds after the heating clicks for the last cycle or 2 to get those clouds. I mostly don't bother using the carb, but I'm still experimenting with it. The carb seems to work best for me when the unit has already gone through a few heat cycles and the material is loosely packed.

Re: logistics, I coarsely grind my material in a small Space Case, then load from there by dipping the tip into the material, twisting, tapping it a few times to settle the material, then applying the cap and firing away. To my knowledge, I've never combusted, even after heating a for quite a bit after the clicks. I only vape at home, so I use the DynaStash to store the VapCap itself, but I don't store my material in it. I requested my DynaStash come in Paduak wood, and it's gorgeous. If I were any happier with how beautifully it pairs with the Cocobolo I requested my VapCap in, I would need to resort to interpretive dance. I don't think I could be any happier, they're both so well done.

I do have a question on how best to clean it, and I'm sorry if I've missed this information being shared previously. How do I clean my Woody without damaging that beautiful wood? I would twist the tip and the cap off carefully, soak in Isopropyl Alcohol, and then dry before reinserting, right? How can I best clean the airpath? Is there a tool anyone has found especially helpful with that?

Background on me and my experience in the vaping arena: I am still refining my technique and learning as best I can, as I've only been vaping for 6-ish months. This is my first lighter-powered vaporizer, and my 3rd vaporizer overall- I also own a Firefly as well as a V2 Series 3, neither of which have been touched since receiving my VapCap and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I bought this VapCap because after initial satisfaction with my Firefly, it quickly developed heating problems, and eventually stopped working altogether. I sent it for repairs, and while the issue I sent it for seems to have been fixed, it now seems to have another issue. Between that and the expensive batteries that deplete quickly and seem to die sooner than they should, I was more than a little disgusted and wanted something nice that worked well, but simply, with a minimum of hassle and gimmicks. I strongly considered the DaVinci Ascent, almost bought the Pax 2 several times, and was warily considering the Grasshopper. Then I found this thread. Search= over.

I have raved about the VapCap to as many people as I could. I am very, very happy with my purchase. I would like to thank George for his hard work, attention to detail, and dedication, and I'd like to thank the members of this forum for the information you've shared. I'm new to this and still find it a bit overwhelming, it is nice to have somewhere to come for good information.
So how long would you say it takes to hear the click when using a zippo, from a cold start?

Just had a session with the 5 carb holed woody... Amazing! By far the best form of a vapcap I've tried. The added airflow was great and very easy to adjust with a finger. Go from no draw restriction with smaller amounts of vapor, to closed off with really solid amounts of visible vapor simply by lifting up or pushing down with a finger or two. Like playing the smallest and best flute of all time! I really think this is how all the woody bodies should be, great work @VapCap

Nice! Do you also have the new o rings to prevent cracking on the Woody?

Love these rolling upgrades @VapCap!

I'm getting good fairly consistent results, no clouds no problem, sometimes I do sometimes I don't but its always nice regardless. I'm trying with so many strains that that is likely a factor as well, but overall it is simple and effective. Quite efficient and very fun to use, my crack hasnt stopped its function either even if it might not be perfect. And with the Ti tip, now I'm contemplating what else I can attach it to...

Glass cap with hole carbed is giving great clouds, except I never used to think draw restriction bothered me much, till I tried the vapcap. Gets huge milky bong rips with the carb covered but it is too much hard work! Heating with the cap on and then removing for a carbed bong rip is awesome! Except obviously a very hot experience.
I think with better airflow over the heat and through the load (not the carb) this thing would be the perfect single hit ripper through water. At the moment hits are too airy with the carb through water, and almost impossible to suck with the carb covered. Really thinking about putting some tiny holes in the top of the cap, but I think the size I want is much smaller than my capability.

Well, I talked to George about a "builder kit" version of the TI Woodie, so I could turn my own wooden cover for it.

He enthusiastically told me that "builder kits" were always part of his plan and I could indeed buy the TI Woodie without the wood.

Well I just received my package, and what a surprise! He sent me the TI Glassy! So I can use it right out of the package, before I've turned my own cover. I'm surprised and thrilled about this. My first thought was how elegant it looks.

I've given it a quick spin and I think it's clear I'll need some practice to get technique down - but I have gotten some tasty vapor. The clicking is incredibly intuitive and satisfying to hear. I'm finding that "feathering" the carb is giving great results.

I have noticed the cap itself gets discolored pretty quickly, though I kind of like it that way.

I'm really excited to turn some tubes for it. I plan on making one with a 14mm taper on the mouthpiece end so it can function as a WonG. I'm also going to try out what @sasNW suggested and try a multi-carbed tube. I will of course post pictures when I have something to show.

Had my my style down, fine grind light pack heat lower cap... Decide to do the complete opposite, three broken bits densely packed heat near the top, started with nice tasty hits minor visible vapor for a few hits, moved down the cap basically a letter per heat cycle. Wound up with one really nice cloud! Then tapped off for the next few. Nice even extraction and i was surprised at the draw out session as I was normally getting 1-2 hits per bowl. Nice to know it can be packed tight for when you need a few extra hits before you can reload.

5 hole woody? VapCap Flute?

@VapCap
I'm intrigued by the 5-hole setup. I wonder if this can be applied to future glassie bodies, assuming it works better than a single inlet port. I have a Ti/glassie coming, so I'll see how it works as is, in comparison to the OG; but with a brand new product, there's often room for improvement, rite?

My new woodie looks this was also, and i have been using it with an open airpath. But, George included extra o rings which have places on the condensor tube to fit. This allows you to cover holes and adjust airflow. Most modular model to date by far. Cool shit.

Also... The TI glassy may be my favorite unit yet but i need to test more

nice. Hopefully mine is en route and we can compare notes soon. Thx for keeping your Z-team bretherin up on tips/tricks with the VC ;)

Also, I've been having wildly varying results with my original VC the past 2 days... I think my flame is likely the culprit, as the triple torch is toast (I light it with another lighter, and 2 of the burners fire right, while one clearly has an incorrect ratio of butane to oxygen... Like a screwed up gas burner on an old stove). I'll compare the short, wide condenser to the long thin condenser again once I figure out the torch issue.

Hey all! I used my new woody all day yesterday. I feel I have it pretty dialed in now overall. ..took me about five bowls until I started to feel comfortable with it.

I love the form factor, it's very cool looking and I love puffing on it like a cigarette. However. ..I'm a little disappointed in the taste. Does anyone have any tips on how to make the taste last longer? I'm not really heating past the click. ..but by the second/third hit the flavor of the herb is completely gone. I've also tried stopping before the click. The taste does last longer, but clouds go away, and I love clouds. I've also experimented quite a bit with the carb, but that's better for milking clouds, not flavor. I'm a bit spoiled by my convection portables I guess, but I do remember getting tastier hits with my vapman. To me the flavor is comparable to the Phantom Cloud V.

Any tips on how to improve my experience would be greatly appreciated, because I really want to love this thing! The idea and craftsmanship is awesome, and I love the portability. Also wish the cap cooled quicker. ..tough to use in a crowd.

Heating closer to the tip of the device shortens your heating cycle, keeping temp lower and flavor longer. Heating closer to the digger end of the cap will give raging clouds with less amazing flavor (you can scorch the load if you aren't careful).

My triple jet lighter also had one flame that wasn't working well. I thought it needed to be adjusted, but it actually just needed to be cleaned.

The recommended method is using a canned air duster to blow out the misbehaving jet nozzle. You should obviously do this while the lighter is either empty or not activated.

I tried it and my lighter was instantly as good as new. It's important to do this cleaning as soon as possible- otherwise the tiny holes in the jet nozzles can become permanently clogged, and then the lighter is really toast.

Edit:

I prefer using a triple flame lighter, I find the broader heat helps me get the best results. I use the lighters at a low setting, and keep the vapcap out of the flame.

The slower I heat my Ti/woody, the better it seems to perform. I think it's because more heat can soak in before the click, without creating hot spots.

I'll pick up some dust off and give that a shot -- thx! Once I try that, it's on to the next issue; my torch's starter is also non-functional (the lock for the lighter never worked. I played with it absentmindedly when I discovered that the burner wasn't working right, and it somehow went from permanently unlocked to permanently locked). I'll have to futz around a bunch, but I'd rather not chuck it if it can be salvaged!

As for slow heating, I totally agree. I like to hold my flame a bit away from the cap, so the visible flame isn't even touching.

I'm back on the tripple torch and holding my vapcap well above the flame for the same reason. I am going to get a double torch insert for my old zippo lighter and see how that goes. I think a zippo and dynastash would look very sophisticated together.

I scrapped my condenser tube with my vape tool. Must say, these DynaDabs sure rock ya :p What I've been doing is waiting till it gets nice and collected at the end of the tube and then smear it on the inside of the bowl end (works best after a cycle) THEN, pack some fresh herbs and oooohh my, you'll be in heaven. :mmmm:

I have tried this a few times and find it to be very effective. Depending on how much reclaim I use I can get twice the hits. Great to load up before you leave the house to minimizes reloading on the road. The little tool you get with generic wax pens is good for getting into the condenser tube.

My wife took me out for dinner on Thursday night. It was cool just chillin out in the passenger seat of the car vaping away while she drove me around. The dynastash makes is really easy.

Also had a sesh in the front yard yesterday. It was fucking lovely :D

I had a really nice bowl/session this morning that seemed in line with others. Four cycles, first no visible but great taste, heated closer to the tip and more in the flame. The next clcyles heated further away and closer to the bottom and got good clouds and fourth cycle got it back, without combustion taste turn by then. Really key to all of it was drawing slow, pack was 3/4 loose medium grind dry herbs, like super slow draw, that's why covering the hole shouldn't be needed, its a super slow draw i think, at least with my TiWoody I think that is when I get the best results.

Agreed, super slow draw gives great results.

I'm finding the vapcap is the perfect replacement for something I've been missing since my combustion days. I used to be able to lay in the bath and sip on a joint, but with pretty much all of my other vapes I wouldn't feel comfortable risking dropping them in water. The vapcap, on the other hand, is perfect for this. Not only does it's cigarette-like nature bring some nice nostalgia, but I don't have to worry about dropping it: It will be completely fine. Worse case scenario I need to wash it out or clean with iso.

Just curious, but when did you guys get your VapCaps?

My order is #523. I ordered on the 28th of December, and on January 5th, I got an email stating that my order was "complete."

How long does it usually take after the completion email to get to my door?

My order is 555 I think and I haven't even received an email yet. My order was placed January 6th.

If you did not get a tracking # you should contact George. It would have shipped out of Wisconsin, not sure where you are to estimate delivery.

I was going to ask about what the most recent orders to ship out is. I don't want to seem impatient as I am in no rush, but was curious to the turn around. I'm 537 if I recall correctly :)

I was 500 and i got mine last weekend if that helps anyone

Just got a reply from George, says shipping will be soon, superb customer service!

Not to divert the thread, but that probably isn't a bad idea period for any vaporizer that has some sort of preorder component. Was simply trying to gauge where I was in the process; seemed easier for me to ask here for someone who recently got a VapCap what # they were than me personally making a whole new thread asking that question or directly PM'ing George where he was. As I wasn't in any rush or wasn't a big deal, just was curious. So, a dedicated thread is probably the best option if you don't want the question asked in the parent thread. .02, no disrespect intended, just a general suggestion that I think could make your jobs easier too

That said, psyched at the apparent quick turnaroud :) As pumped for the Dynastash as much as the actual Dynavap that thing pops!
