...and Im here struggling to get my unit replaced.

So my local vape shop just got back to me after emailing SnB. They told me that I have to do a short video of the issue and a short narration of what happened.

?? I haven't followed your previous posts but S&B warranty policies are clear on the website. You ship it to them with a letter explaining your problem and they take care of you. If you want you can call or email them to try to get a prepaid shipping label for the return. It's not an option in Canada though.

Edit: just realized the issue is you probably want to do a quick swap at local head shop instead of shipping it. If all you need to do for that is a short video, do it.

Im from the Philippines and if I send it, it might get shipped back thru customs, which would be a tax problem.

We do have a retailer here and they told me that they could help me thru the process, I just have to pay for shipping.
I actually told them that people on here usually just send it in.

I just made the video and the report. Hope SnB would get back to them ASAP. They did actually reply after a day after the first email.

S&B undervalue the postal declaration forms when posting warranty returns back.

Yeah if I lose my package, Ill just get about 30$ lol. I think 30$ is the max value without tax. And ill probably lose it to the customs employees if they see a 30$ declared gadget.

Philippines man havent you heard of us, we're topping in corruption.

Running it thru my local vape shop would be my best bet right now, its just weird that i have to write and shoot a video for a report before I send it in. Would it be possible that they dont accept my unit? Its less than 3 months old.

Worse case is I bring the unit with me on October when go to the US. And send it in directly myself without reports or video.

I totally agree with you, assuming the firmware was indeed available at the time you clicked 'buy'. However, I can't help but feel like the time and energy put into updating your firmware could be spent towards repairing an imperative issue for a fellow Crafty/Mighty user. Karma would ideally and hopefully expedite the process when its your turn.

Yea well that's not my problem to be quite blunt. Why do I care if updating my firmware is not as important as someone with a dead unit? Your housing being cracked is def not as important as many other units they get, but why should you care? It's still a warranty repair and it's their job to fix it regardless of the issue. They should hire more staff if they can't keep up with demand.

As far as me being without a vape, I have my mighty to keep me company :)

It´ s a bit crazy that people are emailing SB about newest firmware etc. and questions like "why i dont get newest version "? Are you serious ? If you buy a car and a few months after is a newer version of that same car released you think that the company change your car for a newest version ? are you in SCI-FI world ? You own best portable vaporizer which functions 100% ! So why you want a newest version of firmware ? is that much 2.08 or 2.07 ??? I REALLY don´t understand !

New firmware is not the same as new car???

yes but you dont get new car for free ..You cant return your "older" version and pick up a newest :D i dont think so that warranty covers updates. And this is just a kindness of SB that they change units for early adopters. But if someone gets 2.07 and than want to "sue" SB " why did they lie to me that 2.07 is the latest version" its funny and stupid. No insults! just my opinion. Its all about the access to that information about firmware. If this number is not mentioned in the app - the problem is solved. Is your vaporizer working like it has to be or not ? this is the question not if my is 2.07 or 2.08 -- then you can also compare a paper of which is box made or if the FONT at your billing recipe is the same ( if not email SB and ask them for a newest FONT type)

You see, this is where you don't know wtf your talking about! I JUST purchased my crafty and if there's a newer firmware than the one I got your damn right I want the newest one! That's the main reason why I purchased it directly from SB. Nobody is talking about a firmware that was released months after I purchased my unit. I'm talking about the time I purchased, I want the newest version from that day on.

You don't need to worry about what others are doing. Worry about yourself!
And next time grow some balls and come at me direct instead of getting at me indirectly!

 yes you have new 100% function device which is pulling vapor in to yours lungs! so you´re so high that you want to go higher with 2.08 ? DO you think that this BIG improvement makes a diffrence? You cant enjoy your crafty because you feel blamed :D  Indirectly - you´re not the first user crying about (for me) unimportant things but your post make me to say my opinion. I didnt mean it towards you but towards all this opinions that SB lies to customers or whatsoever. But I plant my balls now so after a few weeks i can post a picture of them growing and you can taste them if they´re the newest version.

Mate that is uncanny! HAHAHA I was about to make a similar post with the EXACT same analogy. Totally agree!

I think people have to be realistic here. If it is functioning and fulfilling it’s primary purpose then they have lived up to their end of the bargain.
If it does what it supposed to, you don’t really have grounds to demand a refund or be aggressive towards them.

I can say, however, they should allow the crafty app to push updates to the crafty via Bluetooth or PC!
It’s totally possible!!!

The only reason I can imagine they wouldn’t want to do that is because maybe they don’t want their firmware readily available for Chinese manufactures to reverse engineer (happens all the time with other devices).
Also people might brick their device if they turn off their phone/PC while it is updating the crafty.

@Marky , surely they have to draw a line in the sand somewhere... they have to say FROM X date onwards we will use FW 2.08 .... they cant retrospectively update dispatched units.... you were probably at the point before they just drew the line in the sand.
You can send it back and they will update it, just no need to be irate and bag them out... use the crafty and chill out man hahahaha. I know that's why I bought it LOL!
Peace out!

I'm not bagging SB out. I just simply want the newest model that was available the day I purchased it. Thats all! I could have saved $40 and got it elsewhere but i put the extra $40 to make sure i get the latest unit and according to the recent proof, I didnt. I don't get why others are so effected by it?? Mind your business! I emailed SB after the day I received my unit which posts of firmware 2.08 were already floating and they told me there was no 2.08, but that person from SB was obviously not aware. I replied to that email with the screenshot showing 2.08 and asking if I can get a replacement with the newest firmware which I should have received. That's all!

Again, tell me how I'm being aggressive towards them? Stop jumping to conclusions! Do you see my emails to them? No!

I'm not going to respond to the guy before you. He's not competent enough to read previous posts and gather the facts before attacking me for something he was 100% wrong about! He's also very immature judging by his comments. This is a forum, a community. Not a place to bash people. I've been trying to help everyone since day 1 with whatever I can.

I remember my rage when I first bought my Mighty. It comes with owning one of the S&B portables at first. It was definitely an eye opener for me after owning a Volcano for 10 years. It will get better.

If a new Crafty firmware comes out, for example just because a new ios or Android OS version came out, do you think they are obligated to throw a week old bunch of unit in the trash? Or that they should open every box and update dozens of unit because we are their nice little fans? Do you think if they don't do like this they are not entitled to sell their products? Unfortunately not.
It's clear that SB got pissed of some customers behaviour who asked for replacements just for minor problems, and in the long run we all are paying the effects of this because they are now more strict now regarding replacements.

I agree although I wouldn't call it rage in my case. I'm just more nervous I guess. Spending $740 on 2 vaporizers is not that comforting lol. I work hard for my money. I do want the best though.

That's not a good point because you can update to the current ios manually. But I think a few of you are missing the point. I'm not complaining about a firmware that came out just after I purchased my unit. My issue is if that firmware was out when I purchased my unit, I should have received that one. I read here before I ordered my crafty that SB ships out the latest units as they don't stock the older ones. So with that interpretation, I placed my order directly through SB and spent more money doing so. Now I find out there is a newer version than the one I have. I want to know why I didn't receive that one instead and if I can get it replaced with one. If they say no, it's no. If they say it just came out after I purchased then thats fine. I'll live. I even stated in another post that it's ok even if they don't update it because I'll most likely get a warranty replacement before the 2 years are up anyway. My unit is fine for now but i should have received the latest unit/firmware. Whats so wrong with that? Seriously, what's the problem? Let me see you buy a crafty right now and get a older unit/firmware and see if you don't feel a certain way about it.

This situation made me not even want to share anything on here anymore. This is ridiculous! I don't need this.

I get you. Really. But you are assuming that v2.08 was available when you placed your order.

It is the general consensus that if a newer firmware was released even just a few days after you received your device, you are not entitled to an upgrade. I think this is reasonable.

You posted several fairly aggressive posts aimed at S&B and then later recanted part of them via editing your post.
(I went back now and refreshed them and they had changed in some cases)....
*first sign that you spend way too much time on FC lol*

I'm not going to argue, I'm sure everyone is rolling their eyes at the antics that have transpired. I certainly won't participate any further and was never aggressive towards you; You should reciprocate.
Just have a bowl and let your problems vape away hehehe.
Relax man :)

I can see you have contributed, good stuff keep it up. Really liked some of your posts, especially the photos of the muzzmod.

I'm assuming because the day I received my unit there were already people talking about a firmware 2.08. That's why, I'm not assuming that because I want to. I even emailed SB about it when I got it and they said 2.08 didn't exist so I left it at that.

If it came out AFTER my purchase I wouldn't even contact them about it. I already know I wouldn't be eligible nor would I expect to be. I would just be bummed at myself for not waiting a bit longer. I think those of you that have an issue are misunderstanding me. It's sad though that some choose to attack rather than ask questions.

What, you think I heard about a new firmware and want to cry my way to a new unit? That's absurd!

Can you tell me which post I edited? I don't follow what your saying. Only edits I do is if I see a big typo or want to add something but can't make a back to back post.

I never was aggressive towards you. I apologize if you felt so. Yes I did get frustrated at SB but why does that matter to anyone? My experience and your experience with them are totally different. Nobody was ever frustrated at SB before? And if so, should they be attacked for it?

I appreciate the kind words. I never meant to start anything on here and I honestly didnt. A member misunderstood and chose to bash me instead of asking me why I'm acting the way I am and a couple others teamed up with him.

Anyway, I'm done talking about this. I can't believe what was made out of a simple post stating I was requesting a replacement. I won't state anything that goes on between me and SB or my units anymore. I'd hate someone to start something for no reason again and distract all of us from the thread.

Btw, I should get my glass adapters tomorrow and I will finish my muzzmod. I will post up pics of the final result. I'm hoping to make people more comfortable attempting the muzzmod on their own because the original tutorial can look quite intimidating to some.

As I said, the simple fact a new firmware is out, doesn't mean they are obligated to unbox remaining, probably just a few days old units just because you are buying direct from SB.
That would mean additional labor hours to unbox, update, box again the units.
The firmware probably was released just because recently a new Android OS came out, and maybe some smartphone could give issues.

So had my crafty since middle of March (fw 2.05 old casing) just hit 30 hours (would have been more but Daisy gets most of my attention since I got her) and all is still as good as day one , heat up time is still under 2 mins, although it was closer to 2:30 when new for some reason :hmm: still can't work that one out, thought it was due to the clock (on my wall) needing a new battery at the time but that would be backwards so can only put it down to my own bakedness (that's a word right? :D)

I still only have the original CU that came with my crafty using the original orings, with all the spares still in the bag they came in, I have had no overheating issues no cracked plastic just great tasting clouds while still getting 4/6 bowls per charge depending on how hungry my lungs are.

I realise we have members with 200+ and 300+ hours and still going strong  so my piddly 30 hours is almost meaningless but it's been a wonderful trouble free 30 hours (over 5 months) and I have enjoyed every hour :D (now I have to hope that because I've said its been trouble free it continues that way :uhoh: we all know how sods law works )

So I've already said I normally get 4/6 bowls from a full charge (although most of the time I don't run it down, normally just keep it around the middle so don't often fully charge (normally stop when the charger amps drop for trickle charge) and normally charge when I have a bowl or two left, my chosen method is a full bowl (sometimes full tamped down and a little extra on top :brow:) then hit it as hard and fast as I can, so a normal bowl lasts me a few minutes after heat up...

So how do you do it...full bowl half bowl something else? Does a session last you a few minutes or do you take your time? and how many bowls/sessions do you get from a full charge?

I recently bought a bubbler, 100% of the times I mate the Crafty with it, I get the overheating alarm when shutting the unit off. This is because with more suction power it struggles more to maintain the temperature. Sometimes it doesn't even turn on, other than refusing to get charged over 60°C.
This is just to say that probably the Crafty isn't designed or isn't (still?) fool proof like the Volcano is, and cannot handle lengthy sessions.
@UnshavenFish reading your report I should be concerned as I only get 3-4 sessions with a full load. 3 sessions at 210 paired with glass and I guess it would die on me at the end of the third.
This is after 50 hours of use but hardly did any better when new :D
The only difference is I tend to load mine way less than yours, could it be my unit has struggled more because of it?

Exact same experience for me too! Except I have 2 cooling units so I have a clean one on hand at all times.

I usually share with friends so I pack the bowl.... Then pack it more and tamp it down... I have to weigh my bowls but they are pretty packed.
I only get 3 bowls per charge. But I get a crazy amount of large tokes... In the order of 10 @180 and 6 at boosted.
That's off grade A.... If it's bad quality herbs then maybe 10 tokes total.
The quality of herb makes all the difference to my session durations.
We rip through I pretty quickly too don't really hold it around for more than 20 seconds between draws

Nothing to worry about I think, it's more down to how each of us has a "session" to get 6 I have to finish a full bowl in about 2-3 minutes taking 5-6 20 second draws to finish a bowl (not for everyone but it's the way I like it, also probably part of the reason I'm still at low hours as my sessions are shorter than most users) I think 4 is the average for most users at around 8-10 minutes per session so for your usage your probably about right

Sometimes I do take a little longer or get distracted mid session so might get less runtime and I only go from full to empty maybe 30% of the time (the rest of the time I have a couple sessions then charge for around an hour to keep the cell charge around the middle) so I don't get 4/6 sessions between every charge, but when I have gone from full to empty this is what I have recorded, and I think S&B claim 5 sessions for the crafty using their method.

Some of the things that will effect how many sessions you get are how long a session is, how long you wait between draws, how dry your herb is and what temp you use, there are many more but I think these are the main ones, IMO anywhere from 2-6 is realistic depending on how the crafty is used.

Edit: I don't think loading less will make a unit struggle, but it does mean the amount of herb used over its lifetime will be less than a unit with the same hours or less but done with full loads, for instance my unit with 30 hours could have vaped more herb than yours with 50 hours, as my sessions are shorter we could have done the same amount of sessions just over a different timescale but as my loads are full (and sometimes overfilled) I would have vaped twice the amount of herb, if that makes any sense :hmm:

What I'm trying to achive is getting as high as I can as quick as I can which keeps the hours on my crafty low and in my head means a longer lasting cell.
